Bfahome Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Considering the other new action theme this year is about flying mummies, 'historical accuracy' shouldn't be part of the criteria at all. Quote
vexorian Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Let me rephrase my opinion a bit, I think that the sets don't match the figs and that the big attack machines, like the one below, have been given to much of a Mars Mission twist. Just look at it, does that resemble something Ninja like to you? The skeletons ride the tank and the bike. Not the ninjas. Historical ninjas are out of fashion in the food chain of cool. Mythical super hero ninjas are more popular nowadays. It makes no sense, and that's basically what TLG intends to do with these sets. Specially ninja go is completely aimed at kids with that game thing. AFOLs can always reuse the ninja figs and the designs. The Dojo is awesome and easily transformable into something historical. I, for one will likely get the vehicles. Quote
Zarkan Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Okay, I'll admit it: I'm starting to warm up to this theme. Looking at the finalized pictures, I'm honestly suprised at how good the skeleton sets and the ninja dojo look. That skeliie dragster in particular looks a hundred times better in that clear photo than it did in the catalog. However, I still have a few big issues with the theme - the "collectible" minifigures look like an utter rip-off, and that Ice dragon is as terrible as ever. Also, I'm confounded by the design of the new skeleton arms - while the limb looks much better, the hand is molded in a position that will make it hard to pose weapons. Don't expect to make an army formation of these guys like with the castle skeletons, anyway - I fear their weapons will just bump into each other like fish in a barrel. Quote
Bricks2000 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Does anyone know whatever happened to this set? CLICK I haven't seen any pictures or heard about it for a while. I hope that LEGO didn't get rid of it. It was one of my favorites. I'm also wondering what happened to the set. Quote
Bricks2000 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I see a couple of 1x2 bricks and a 2x2 plate in every set like these... . Quote
prateek Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I was wondering why too. Anyone know why they're there? Quote
lordskylark Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Can someone repost to Ninjago preliminary pics? I can't seem to find them anymore anywhere. I would like to compare. Thanks Andy Quote

Anyone know why they're there? well, I think that the 2x2 plate, clips into those two hook things in the center of the top. and your ninja or skeleton goes on top. And then, I'm guessing, with enough force, the plate will pop off with warrior, I don't know about the 1x2 bricks though Quote

I think that's one reason the new Skeletons have boots. Quote

There actually seems to be two types of new-style skeleton arm, based on the box art. Whether or not that can be trusted is yet to be seen, but I certainly hope there are two variations-- it's the next best thing to actually having posable hands. Quote

Then the arms will look awkward when they're not holding weapons, like the new Battle Droids. Quote
Aanchir Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) Then the arms will look awkward when they're not holding weapons, like the new Battle Droids. Why? They're nothing like the battle-droid arms-- the arms seem have their elbows at the same angle no matter what angle the hands are at. In other words, it's basically the same as if the hands could rotate, only you're limited to those two angles. EDIT: See what I mean? Interestingly, the only sets that seem to obviously use the arms in "classic Battle Droid position" are the tops. The reason for this is almost certainly because it allows the weapons to clash together more easily when playing the tie-in game. Edited November 17, 2010 by Aanchir Quote

squidman85 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I was wondering why too. Anyone know why they're there? They are for cards(there was a pdf rules of the game with some card demonstration). Quote
Aanchir Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Fair point. I think it's just my grudge of Battle Droid arms kicking in But that's precisely the reason to love these arm pieces! Because fantasy-era skeletons are no longer required to use Battle Droid arms! Where? It was on LEGO.com a few weeks back, but got taken down. There was a news article on Brickset about it. Quote

MightySlickPancake Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I realised what the bricks are for, They hold up your ninja cards. I saw it when I read this (its on page one). Sorry if this has been said before. Thanks, CB Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I don't know about this game, I mean clearly I'm not going to play it but to me it seems that even kids won't find it all that exciting; the rules are so simple its like the game concept was an afterthought, and yet they are marketed as a game! I can't see kids sitting around for hours playing this; it will get old after a few tries and apart from positioning weapons and pulling cards out, what possible strategic value does this have? Quote
sok117 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 whats the point of playing cards? the tops will spin either way Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 whats the point of playing cards? the tops will spin either way I think adding a cards to spinning tops was a great idea! They totaly change the game! Quote
Delta 38 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 whats the point of playing cards? the tops will spin either way If you put it that way, what's the point of tops when there's always the cards? More logically, though, what's the point of both when there are actual sets? It's almost certainly to add extra gameplay value, because trying to knock over minifigs just by spinning yours into others isn't too interesting. Personally, though, I do like those bases used for spinning. I won't use them that way, though. Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 This is the only 2011 theme I have not yet seen in TRU, wondering what's taking so long. I got a whole bunch of pharaoh's Quest sets yesterday and there were Atlantis and city sets, but no Ninja stuff yet Quote
Mesonak Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I've noticed that some some themes such as Hero Factory and NinjaGo aren't being released as early as some; It puzzles me, but I don't really care for NinjaGo, so I'll live. Quote
