Ninja Go: Masters of Spinjitzu.

Sounds a whole lot like one of the many cartoons I have a fondness for. The video looks like a trailer/opening credits for a saturday morning show. Now, if this is aiming to break into the battle card/toy market, a cartoon is exactly what they need (After all, that is what the popular and successful ones have done) I am going to put these ideas and take a wild leap....

Cartoon Series for kids tv? This would then mean that there could be several waves if the show gains any sort of popularity. Before you all cry "Galidor!" remember that the premise for a Ninja Go series is already playing off popular tropes of the genre. Also Bionicle did well as a series of movies and Clutch Powers must have made some money.

I for one look forward to a potential series

You know, it's entirely possible that there will be more videos even a movie, but a series seems unlikely; all the decor in the video was based on the sets; yes it mimicks 90's ninja cartoons, but I think that's the point. (also who would sign them up for an all-Lego cartoon? Not one network can claim copyright so its going to be like a 30 minute Lego commercial pretty much: and that's expensive)

These actually look far better now, in the context of the cartoon, and the whole play on elements and the return of the living dead actually have a lot of potential. I'm curious as to how they will connect the classic ninja dojo and earthy elements with the crazy motorized vehicles, turrets and fortress.

I'm more excited about the art at the same link. Garmadon looks cool, and that's really the first time I've been able to see what he looks like at all. I know they're all just the art from the cards but dang, it's good looking stuff - and now I want a lego teapot for my sensai

I'd bet money on the fact that a) there will be a TV movie (either a mini-movie like the Atlantis one or a movie split up into multiple "episodes" like the Hero Factory one) and that b) the song in the background will be featured in the movie, and is written by the same guy who wrote the songs and music for The Adventures of Clutch Powers and BIONICLE: The Legend Reborn. It has the same sort of upbeat, modern sound as the songs featured as background music in the Clutch Powers movie. I doubt there will be a full TV series.

In any case, that song is wonderful and really sets the stage for this theme. Same goes for the video clips. Yes, the theme is utterly ridiculous. But as the humorous animal and location descriptions on the Ninjago site demonstrated, the writers for this theme know how ridiculous it is and are taking full advantage of it. The theme's not trying to be anything other than what it is-- an amusing good-versus-evil battle in a zany fantasy world.

Many AFOLs will almost certainly hate this movie just as many of them hated the other movies put out by Tinseltown Toons in the past two years. But I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

In other news, I saw something that will certainly upset some folks here-- if the appearances of the characters in the video clips are to be trusted, the ninja's torsos will have back printing that includes the characters' names. If the actual figs are like that, then that eliminates some of the potential for army-building with these ninjas.

In any event, that's the last section of the teaser site over and done with. Now all we have to wait for is the full site to be revealed next year (along with the appearance of the sets in stores worldwide).

:cry_sad:

Not to mention the names aren't particularly good either. I'd be fine with an army of Bobs (not really, but it sounds better).

More likely those of us who would hate it know that and will simply ignore it's existence. I know the track record for straight to DVD movies. I can't spend any time or energy watching, hating, or even acknowledging them.

I was just looking at some of these sets closer, particularly the Training Center:

Nice idea and something similar to a structure I made last year as part of my Mexican Village. Take a look:

I love your mexican village stuff, and you're right, side by side the training center looks like it's totally ripping you off

There won't be any TV series, but there will be a full-length movie. I guess it's confirmed, since I could clearly see a phrase: "Watch trailer for the upcoming Ninjago movie!" before the 2nd online vid started to load.

You sir have made extreemly happy with this news . I know most AFOLs won't like it but I persoly like these films lego do as they are so cheesy and I say "More make more, But not too many". Its a shame about them having names on there backs but I suppose it wont be too hard to rub off with brasso (prepares for people to get angry).

Thanks, CB

That seems unlikely. I've already watched the vids many times and I'm certain they are either shown without back printing (in the scene where they jump with gliders) or with simple print which includes part of the crossbelt/rope (seen when Kai jumps and grabs the golden sword in a cave). I didn't notice any letters or kanji symbols on their backs. Furthermore, it would be pointless to print their names on their torsos - as far as I remember, the ninja wrap covers most of the figure's back.

EDIT: Oh no... Ur right, there's one scene where it can be seen. However, I think the wrap (hope they didn't change the mold) would cover any printing on their backs.

This is me gloating about my amazing detective skills:

A dangerous mix of curiosity and boredom took me to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Donovan

"Ninjago" - New Lego Movie - WilFilm / Feelgoodfilm, Denmark

Anyway. I really hope the rumors of a 10 USD price tag for the card sets is false. Because 10.00 would really make this theme a sales bomb... There is no way they would compete with Bakugan and friends with that price... And AFOLs are not going to pay 10.00 for just a single minifigure...

Not kosher. Ninjas from 1998 were MUCH better.

And this... Skeletons have high technologies, like bikes (O_o), and the whole idea of Ninjas vs Skeletons is as gallucinogenic, as are the Teletubbies.

Okay, so the skeletons have evil technology, so what if Star Wars has proven will (the force) can overcome those with high tech weapons etc., anyway it's a theme for 7 to 10 year kids so what did you expect ?

Also it's a first to hear Lego referenced to the Teletubbies (Again, again ! ), I too feel the vehicles are overkill, but then I say okay, what would I want as a 8 year old boy who might watch Dragon Ball Z or similar eh ?

I know that the Aussie release date is January and I'll be getting some of the sets and maybe the basic good guy vs bad guy pack, though I also might wait to read some reviews first.

Keep on being silent, quick and whatever like ninja !

Wow. You certainly have very impressive vocabulary. Even though I disagree, I can certainly respect that.

Thanks! I actually found that set a while ago, but the image I found was preliminary. Nice to have an image that's both high-res and finalized!

My only problem with this line is the name...not that there's anything actually wrong with it, but I read "Ninjago" and think "Ninja-a-go-go". Just thought I'd share that with everyone...

LOL .

The weapons assortment is great and the japanese style building are great two I also quite like the box art :sweet:

Though the best part for me about this theme is the purple parts and the skeletons :cry_happy:
