Thanks for the pic Grogall!

It looks really great, and the amount of weapons is fabulous!

But upon closerinspection, I see that there is no base plate, just and arena around the fighters.

That's a huge con for me, because I suspect that the price will be too high.

Still-the pieces are awesome-but I am afraid the price will be too high. :cry_sad:

Wouldn't the price be even higher if there were a baseplate? :sceptic: But I guess what you're saying is that without a baseplate, it's not worth the cost. Correct me if that's a misunderstanding.

Not kosher. Ninjas from 1998 were MUCH better.

And this... Skeletons have high technologies, like bikes (O_o), and the whole idea of Ninjas vs Skeletons is as gallucinogenic, as are the Teletubbies.

Lol. Yeah, I kind of agree with you. This is the strangest theme we've gotten since that bizarre time-traveling one from the 90s.

But I have to say it's been growing on me, too. Some of the models are actually pretty nice. Some great new Asian-themed parts such as the hats and wall panels, and even if the high-tech Skeletons are strange, the models are definitely the coolest this theme has to offer.

...but I also would have preferred a more generic Ninja theme in vein of the 1998 wave you mentioned. Ninjago is just too strange for me to think of it as a true Ninja theme.

Yes, I am sating that without a baseplate, its not worth the money.

Sounds like you've been turned  Much rejoicing is in order.

and the Time-whatever they weres, yeah - I remember getting the mountain base kinda thing on clearance a few years after the theme came out. One heck of a fun set. I also had the Twisters vehicle with the clear blue barrel of junk, pop up and down skeleton top hat heads, and a bathtub base. Trippy stuff.

Wow, this image has made my day. Thanks! This is great, a DX version of the red ninja with spinner and a gold katana! :classic:

Totally must-get. Even if the minifig is available separately, I'd rather have this. The ATV is quite nice.

That is a really cool set! That is probably the Nuckal ATV we heard about earlier. Does anybody know when these will be in stores? I am getting very anxious for these sets.

Again another great set, thanks grogall . I like the DX ninjas but does it mean we wont get a fire dragon (or even a earth and water dragon) rest as he is included in this set? The different coloured spinning discs are always a bonus.

Thanks, CB

Okay, now that I get to see the arena set in higher resolution, I've taken an interest in the set. The main reason for that is the katana holder featuring one of each type. There's a black katana for the ninja in this set plus an additional gold katana that I'll need for Nya. I can finally have an army of each type with identical katanas now, yay! The bases are great too, as I normally would rather get individual figures for their bases than get actual sets. In this case, I can get bases, katanas and a DX figure without too much trouble. :classic:

I didn't notice it before, but the bases seem to be made up of two main parts. There's the studded circular base (the useful part) and a smooth underside which I believe is clipped on. It looks better with the underside in my opinion.

Thanks, Grogal, especially for that pic of the elusive ATV. But where are the minifig pack pics you've promised us? :classic:

@ Delta38: I don't think the underside of the tops comes off, it's the way they're manufactured, I think.

Hi again guys,(and girls) I just noticed something on the box's. On it was an ad for a ninjago video game it said Lego ninjago the video game, coming soon to nintendo DS. It could be interesting. Bye.

There will definitely be more dragons if there are future waves. TLG wouldn't risk so much on fabricating the mold for the dragon head if they didn't intend to use it as much as possible. The appearance of DX ninjas in certain sets is irrelevant. The white DX ninja appears in both the ice dragon set and in a standalone minifigure set. The only minifigure that probably won't appear in a standalone set is Sensei Wu because the Spinjitsu Training Center comes with his cards.

The biker skeletons aren't that weird of villians if you compare the theme to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Sorry...what is a DX Ninja?

@ceroknight

DX ninjas are just ninja minifigures with special dragon printing on them. Their standalone sets cost more than the regular ones but come with different weapons and different cards that go with the spinning top/card game aspect.

Good observation! So, in the Ninjago franchise there is going to be:

Spinning tops

Trading cards

System playsets

A Brickmaster book

A videogame

A boardgame

A movie

Anything I missed?

On closer observation, yeah, I think you're right. They look a bit too thin to be separate. Still, before finalised and higher resolution images, I don't recall seeing the underside on those bases, so that's interesting.

There are many "interesting" things in this line. For example, cards being available in some sets (the dojo set), which I would never have anticipated. I think it will probably be likely that there will be card packs, and perhaps even minifig packs to put on the spinners, or something. I wonder if this line is too ambitious? The sets themselves are great in my opinion, though.

Thanks for sharing these hi-res pics grogall! Yeah it's quite nice to see these new sets, but I'm still not that much interested with Ninjago. Except for a few new nice pieces, I still think it's a bit 'weirdly' done, which is understandable since this is definitely intended for kids and not for AFOLs. The flying dragon set looks quite good though.

But there have been lines that advertised videogames and nothing came of, I think mars mission was one, then the closest thing was "LEGO Battles" which by all accounts is a throwaway. So, if I may put it mildly, expect absolutely nothing.

That's why it's in the action themes forum, not historic.

Where does it say we're getting those?

I suppose we could add the headband and sticker from a couple of pages ago to the list though.

True. By no means is this a confirmation, but a rumor at the least. It would make sense for them to make a videogame for this theme though. It would be pretty fun to beat up skellies with kung fu (or "spinjitzu"), ride dragons, and drive crazy skeleton vehicles.

Hi, and perdon my intrusion ! Ninjago is one of the new theme that i really can't wait to see !! I hope, however, that the minifig in single pack won't have some """compatibility""" issue, as for exemple the minifigure collectible series have with "casual" minifigs.

Well, on that point, i am unsure of the "video game" definition. I meant, over the lego universe forum, some did "file diving", revealing some file name containing ninjago and spinjutsu. That with the official anounce made a day or so before, i'm pretty sure lego universe will have a more or less big world to welcome ninjago. I can easyly imagine code accesses, you know, kinda like many CCG or collectibles game (bakugan, yu gi oh online, ect ...). Now, will it be on the casual multyplateforms ( DS, XBOX, PC, PS3, WII, ... ) as a stand alone game ? I guess we'll have to wait to know the last word of the story :B
