Lordofdragonss Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 (edited) I was wondering, is the big skeleton a three-armed figure or four? This guy He is the main vilian. And he have 4 arms. he is only in Skeleton fortress set Edited December 17, 2010 by Lordofdragonss Quote
Corydoras Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 (edited) So far on the monster truck I've notice two things about it,one it looks like it might have a bitting function, and 2 it looks like the giant fist gets hidden by a back hood cover. The monster truck appears in the 2nd Ninjago trailer. It shoots a big skeleton hand that grabs Nya. The shooting mechanism probably works with a rubber band, as I can clearly see one holding the "fist". I must say the 2nd wave sets disappointed me. The temple has some really nice pieces, but I expected it to be something really big and super special. The Fire Dragon is too colorful for my taste and the Earth Dragon looks more like a dewback (a SW creature) than a real dragon. At first I thought the momocle skeleton is some kind of a mutant with an even bigger, horribly deformed head. I was relieved to learn that it's a new helmet which blends with the skull on the photo. Masked Builder Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Boy these new large headed skeletons are great! Quote
jonwil Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Do we know for sure if the black army helmet comes in the NinjaGo sets or not? (i.e. was it just a prototype that they tried and then decided not to use)? Quote
Aanchir Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Boy these new large headed skeletons are great! I'm still not quite happy with what I've seen of them. As much as I always hate this accusation (it's almost always leveled against any specialized piece that isn't ten or more years old, even though for some reason older parts get a pass), they do remind me quite a bit of MegaBloks. And not in a good way. They're one of the only things I'm not happy with about Ninjago. I also don't understand them from a story perspective. There's what looks to be a grave in the Garmadon's Fortress set, which hints he may be raising these skeleton warriors from their graves to be his servants. But unless head deformities and/or mutations are common in the land of Ninjago, this doesn't explain where all the larger-headed skeletons are coming from. On a side-note, if LEGO did want to impress me with a more specialized skull piece, I wouldn't mind seeing a minifig head the same size and shape as a regular one, but with details like the eye sockets carved out (still printed inside the carved-out portions, of course). I've warmed up to most of the other skeleton parts, but the larger skeleton heads will take a bit more time, I'd wager. Quote
KristofBD Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 This ninjago theme surely is innovative. At first I thought it was kind of a ridiculous theme, but now it seems that there is stuff that will interest the kids and there is stuff that will interest the Afols. I also find the earth dragon and the Fire Temple wonderful. At the same time I think there's also a lot of hideous sets in this line (the skeleton fortress and the skeleton vehicles for instance). However, I like the fact that LEGO experiments. Surely there's always some bad sets when one experiments, but it's the best way to move forward. Quote

If he has the magic to raise the dead, he can probably mutate them too. To act as generals or something. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Using some magic hoodoo he turns skeletons into his monster warriors. I mean, if you are willing to suspend disbelief enough to allow skeletons with no ligaments, muscles and tendons to walk around and wave weapons, well, magic making them more monsterlike is easy! I think the potential to combine the sets into a large temple/HQ looks to be very useful. I hope The temple is a set. Quote
CommanderR Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 I was thinking about the "lightning dragon battle" and a thought came to me... What if there are two lightning dragons: one for lord garmadon, and one for Jay. Of course lord garmadons dragon would be darker and would have a different style and shape (maybe an undead dragon). Amen to that. They don't seem to mind retooling parts and adding new parts and an actual skeleton skull head on a skeleton would be grand. Quote

I guess, though, that since you bought it for the parts you won't be writing a review. Still, I respect your decision. Perhaps you could at least write a short review of the new and interesting pieces to post in this topic? I've seen a few pictures of the new skeleton parts on Flickr, but would love to hear some more opinions on them. EDIT: Cool News: someone on Flickr pointed out to me that the Japanese Ninjago website is live! It includes various interesting things. The Characters page has links to movie scenes, movie stills, and wallpapers of the main Ninja characters. Pity I can't read a thing on this site... EDIT 2: Skeleton characters also have movie scenes, stills, and wallpapers. Edited December 19, 2010 by Aanchir Quote

Well, the enouying this is that I'm so bussy. checking eurobricks daily for 15 minutes is doable, but making a whole revieuw is very timeconsuming. When you do a revieuw, you must do it good. I'll try to take some pictures just to make you guys happy. Anybody want to pm their e-mail address, so I can forward the pictures, I really don't want to spend my evening uploading, hotlinking etc... (I work 7 days a week these days, hope you understand my lazyness. Quote
