I wonder if this is similar to the campaign currently running in sweden. Here you get one or two special cards if you buy a NinjaGo spinner. 50 first customers also get a foam "battle arena" and a sticker.

The cards come in theese nice black packets

One card is a nice and shiny golden "Off Balance" battle card. And notice that this card only requires 100 earth to be played. The regular "Off Balance" card requires 3 times as much in earh. And the fig doesn't need to hold a golden weapon either.

The other card is a Krazi figure card with a nice hologram effect. I've uploaded a small video of it to flickr here.

Hello Mirandir,

Do you know if this campaign is still running in Sweden and if so, in which shops? We are going to Sweden this weekend (we live in Denmark and here we have no such campaign), so it would be great to be able to pick these "special" cards up.

We have collected the other special Ninjago cards currently available.

Two are issued with the special Sensei Wu set (853111). These are a hologram Sensei Wu (number *1) and a gold edition of the Force Field battle card (number *4). Another was given away in a US Toys'r'us campaign but can be found on BrickLink and eBay. It was a gold Flame Pit battle card (number *6). Finally, the Ninjago Trading Card Holder (853114) comes with a hologram version of Kai (number *2).

Best regards.

If anyone wants to do a little comparison between the (assumed) final Fire Temple and the preliminary one....

This is the only shot I can find of the finalized boxart, it's only partial...this was shown at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. This is also a good picture for seeing the finalized set as a whole.

http://www.spieletest.at/pics/bericht/865/lego13.JPG

Good shot of the preliminary artwork, shown at New York Toy Fair:

LEGO Toy Fair 2011 - Ninjago - 2507 Fire Temple - 01

The preliminary shot shows 8 minifigures, the rep at Nuremeberg fair confirmed final set will have only 7 figures, which I believe to be the 7 I mentioned in my other post.

Unfortunatly I don't have a list of what shops participated. I was told that it was the top 100 stores that sells most LEGO in Sweden that had this campaign. So larger toystores had it. Some shops may have cards left, I don't know. I know that my favourite store, "HB Adventure", had some left when I was there a week ago. But it's located in Skellefteå far north in Sweden.

Looks like the fire dragon in the Fire Temple set no longer has the gorgeous printed wings that he had in one of our earliest pics of him. Darn. But on the bright side, unprinted wings will be more versatile.

The blacksmith shop also looks gorgeous. The picture for it reveals that some of the upcoming skeletons have new and unique armor, rather than just the spiked-shoulder armor of the first wave. Kai is also holding an interesting printed map piece.

The Earth Dragon's tail isn't quite as colorful as in his preliminary box art, but I still think it's artistically handled. And as ToyFair demonstrated, the functionality has been maintained.

The Sensei Wu and Lord Garmadon spinner sets are still marked as preliminary/confidential, and I'm curious about Garmadon's in particular. His staff has been replaced with the same lightning-shaped staff head on one of the new lightsaber handle-like pieces with the side studs. Additionally, he has a big ol' double-scythe (maybe a fancified pickaxe?) and a sword. I'd think a longer weapon like his staff from the Garmadon's Fortress set would actually be better for the spinner game. I'm curious why he doesn't have that-- maybe because that would raise the piece count and keep him from having as many other weapons.

Nya's spinner has her cute phoenix-emblem in the corners. Those gold blades will probably be very desirable for some builders. I don't think they appear in any other sets. Garmadon's emblem on his spinner is interesting-- some kind of shadow-lightning-worm, obviously analogous to Sensei Wu's more elegant dragon emblem.

The Mountain Shrine set, interestingly, DOES include the fancy dragon-sword from the Fire Temple. So people who aren't sold on the Fire Temple have that as an option. It's another set that seems to focus on spinner function, with plenty of things to knock around with a spinning ninja.

On a side note, reading the actual Gizmodo article attached to these pics made me want to cry (as did the comments underneath). People really can't have any respect for something that isn't exactly the same as their childhoods, can they? The amount of hatred for Ninjago and Hero Factory was difficult to bear. I wish people would sort of figure out that their childhoods weren't necessarily the best childhoods possible, and that people can still be just as imaginative with today's sets as with the sets of 30 years ago.

Oh no, some ninjas are either now DX or not in the sets at all. I may have to get two of Kai DX, because the Mountain Shrine appeals to me somehow.

I'm confused as to whether the large samurai helmet on one of the skeletons is actually a separate headpiece or moulded. It looks like part of it, but if it does separate, then that's a bonus.

Finally, both the Earth Dragon and the Skull Truck have been boosted in size, from what I originally saw. Both are rather intimidating now, but the price might go up.

Edit: We still haven't seen the rumoured Lightning Dragon set. If it does exist, I imagine it will come with DX Jay. Must wait further...

Thanks for the pics! I'm still going to follow through with my plan of the blacksmith shop, fire temple, and earth dragon.

I know what you're saying! I'm wondering to wait to find out if this exsists, or go ahead and get Skeleton Bowling for DX Jay. But then again, in that set Jay might be Chinese Plastic, so this set better be real!

I picked up that set about two months ago and I can assure you it's real plastic, but it is overpriced as a set.

Eh, I stopped giving Gizmodo my clicks a long time ago, bunch of apple sucking losers as far as the eye can see. Commenters are the sad basement man-children kind who get scared if things change, doubly so if they once liked but didn't keep up.

Thanks for the pictures, wouldn't have seen them so soon otherwise!

All of the set ninjas are in normal plastic, so that's not an issue. I think the Skeleton Bowling set is an exclusive though, so finding it is hard enough. That's why I'm worried, because if the Lightning Dragon isn't going to come out, then there's little chance of getting the Skeleton Bowling set.

They're actually in quite high supply at my toys r us, 30USD.

OMG. My son is going to lose his mind when he sees the rock dragon. Hell, I'm lovin' it myself! Actually, this line has been WAY better than I ever thought it would be.

I also really want that dragon sword...

I'm not getting any of these sets, but they look far better than I expected. The skeleton chomping monster truck and the fire temple have awesome functions.

It is precisely because I love LEGO that I complain about prices when I find them high. Every cent spent on a set is a cent you won't get to spend in other new sets, vintage sets from the internet, loose minifigs or used bricks...

Exactly.

The more any given set costs, the less I have to spend on other LEGO sets...and in a year such as this, with sooooooooo many OUTSTANDING sets, it's becoming increasingly important for me to prioritize my spending on LEGO. Unfortunately, this means that some very cool sets will probably get 'pushed aside' simply due to price.

About the Lightning Dragon:

From Brickapedia:

2521 Lightning Dragon Battle is a Ninjago limited edition set to be released in 2011. It includes a large, blue dragon which looks very similar to the Ice Dragon. It includes Jay in his DX attire and a currently unknown skeleton.

That really tells us nothing that we couldn't have guessed based on the sets we've already seen-- and in fact whoever added that probably guessed on most of it. Wikis are never a good source of information unless they tell where the information came from, and if a wiki's the first place new information shows up then it's almost certainly unfounded. And no, this isn't just me hating on wikis (I was a part of a BIONICLE wiki for a long, long time)-- it's just an unavoidable part of their nature.
