The Real Indiana Jones Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Umm...heck yeah. Tiamat MOC anyone? Just have to use the different heads of the NinjaGo dragons. Fun. Good call! I ran a search for "Tiamat" here on Eurobricks, and I am shocked that so few people have ever thought of creating the undisputed god of the D&D Universe. A search on Google Images reveled this... My linkhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/esteemedhelga/4886615979/sizes/l/in/photostream/ It might also look great to use the Ninjago dragon heads with the head of the Midgard Serpent from the Vikings sets, or any of the dragons from the Fantasy Era sets or the other Viking sets. To really support five heads, you could also create a body, or just the front half of a body emerging from the underworld, using red Tecnic/Bionicle/Hero Factory parts from Lego Digital Designer or BrickLink. Gokey Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Lightning dragon does seem very cool, wish we knew piece count/price. :( Quote
Gregorovich Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 The new Kingdoms, City, Harry Potter and Alien Conquest sets are all ot and most have even been reviewed. I don't understand why the NinjaGO sets (which appear to be one of the themes TLG are putting the most effort into) aren't available yet. Does anyone have information on when these summer wave sets will arrive? Quote
Ceroknight Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Thank you for the picture! I have heard of it but I have never seen the picture Quote
Oky Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Hm, that turned out better than I expected. Some useful pieces in there. That ATV is pretty neat, especially with that printed tile, and so is that little shrine/gate thing. Still probably wont get it though. Too many awesome sets to get this year... again. Quote
The Real Indiana Jones Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 @Gregorovich Good question! I think that up until recently the new sets would always come out quarterly on Feb 1, May 1, Aug 1, and Nov 1... but LEGO might be staggering the releases more now, to accomodate movie-tie-ins, and just to make sure that there is always something fresh on the shelf. I guess all you can do is be patient, buy some older sets to hold you over for a bit, check the LEGO website under "What's New", and look at the mailed catalog when it comes. The new Star Wars sets were just released in Germany, and I heard that all the announced NinjaGo sets will by out before Mid-July. Any other info? Quote

Gokey Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) Something on my body just grew an extra few inches after seeing that! (my eyes) :P Omg though, I REALLY wanted it before, now I MUST have it Edited May 31, 2011 by Gokey Quote
Gregorovich Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Thanks for the pictures, Grogall! The sets look even better in these photos. Quote
The_Box Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I hate to say it but I find the Lightning Dargon to be a bit excessive. I've always had a thing against dragons having 4 legs and claws on their wings. The copter, on the other hand, is great. I will definitely be downloading the intructions because I really like that brick-built skull cockpit. I'm thinking this set will be in the $50 to $70 USD range. That spinner is what's going to jack up the price, though. Quote

"ONLY HELICOPTER!" or "ONLY DRAGON!" which would be terrific because the only ninjago stuff I feel strongly pulled to buy is the collection of skeleton vehicles. just big copter and monster truck to go! And of course, Thanks once again, grogall! Quote

I'm thinking this set will be in the $50 to $70 USD range. That spinner is what's going to jack up the price, though. I agree completely on the legs+claws being too many. It just upsets its overall aesthetic IMO. If it were just one claw on each wing, then that would be OK, but with a full hand on each it's hard to tell what look this dragon is going for. I'm also not too happy with the torso. That beefy upper body might work if the front legs weren't so puny, but as it is it just looks silly. On the other hand, I love the skelicopter, especially with Frakjaw in that flight helmet-- hilarious! Its build is very unconventional and I feel it could use a little less white and a little more purple or red, but it's still amazingly creative. And it has some parts that make me raise my eyebrows in curiosity, like the Atlantis 7M-diameter propeller in Medium Lilac (dark purple). I think we can all agree that the Lightning Dragon's tail is far superior to his fiery cousin, and I love the inclusion of a lightning bolt on the tip-- classy! The spears on his back and wings are also awesome. And I love his color scheme. He has plenty of interesting parts (and, needless to say, enough of them that one could easily reduce it in size and thus eliminate some of the more awkward features). Also, this marks the first actual building set to have a spinner for one of the skeletons. Seems about the same as the one in his spinner set, of course, but this means that you needn't get the spinner set unless you want his awesome weapon. I wonder how much this set will run for-- it'll certainly be expensive, just in terms of its sheer bulk of pieces! Quote
prateek Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 That helicopter is awesome, as is the dragon. Hopefully it isn't too expensive... Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 OMG ! The lightning dragon set is pure AWESOMENESS ! Yeah, the fire dragon one is not bad too.....ouch my wallet ! Thanks 'grogall' you've done it again and everyone keep on spinning ! Quote
Ceroknight Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Thank you for the pictures! Looks expensive.. Quote
ZO6 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Thanks for the pics, Grogall! It was upon seeing pics of the Fire Temple (back whenever they first appeared) that convinced me to collect the Ninja based sets from the theme. The skeleton faction does not appeal to me, but the Ninja stuff is alright (I suppose nostalgia is playing a large role in my desire to acquire them). The Fire Temple looks stunning. It doesn't appear to have as many play features as I'd hoped, and the splitting function is rather bizarre, but perhaps there are still some features not yet known. In any case, it's near the top of my must-haves for this year. I quite like the dragon from the Lightning Dragon Battle, but the skeleton helicopter would be put to the side should I ever pick up the set. Sure the design of the helicopter is quite elaborate, but it's just not for me. I'm really looking forward to this summer wave of NinjaGo sets! Quote
