SWMAN Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Very nice MOC. I really like when people take Lego's designs and make them more accurate. Lego is more concerned with playability than accuracy, which I completely understand. Their core market is kids who play with the toys. But back to your creation. I really love the small details that you added. Great job. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Sorry to slightly bump this, but this is what I was talking about when I said brick-built turret: No problem, this topic is still in the first page so it ain't that old news yet. That's a pretty good RGS I must say, love the smoothness of the finish, that might be another way to make an RGS, but I'm sticking with my modified TLG version for the time being. Regarding the wing turret, it's a good brickbuild, though kinda small IMO. I think I'll be sticking also with my double bubble wing turret. But thanks for sharing, some techniques there might be useful in my future RGS MOCs/MODs. Quote

I guess it's our job as AFOLs to somehow correct these inaccuracies by a li'l bit of moddind here and slight tweaking there to achieve what we want in a particular set. Quote
Ritz Brick Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I love how you took out the random tan stuff you see on the outside, but did you also remove the random yellow and blue from the interior structure? Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 I love how you took out the random tan stuff you see on the outside, but did you also remove the random yellow and blue from the interior structure? I guess there's a bit of random blue still remaining in the interior, I'm just not quite sure since my focus was really to remove all the random colors in the exterior and make them all white for a cleaner look (though unrealistic since there's no visible 'battlescars' = 'Shinies' as Rex would call it). mattlegodude Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Cool! IMO I think a mixture of your's an lego's would be perfect. I like the slanted rear in lego's and a little more playability in the troop compartment. But other than that I think that's great. nice job with it. Quote

The rear part in my modified RGS is also slanted, thought the size, shape, and angle is different than the official RGS. The opening rear of the official RGS is actually accurate to that of the real RGS, I wasn't just able to pull it off considering the instability of the rear part when I removed the supporting arch. Solscud007 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 can you explain what is different with the hinges and how is the rear supported if the support arches and vertical beams are removed for the spacious interior? Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 (edited) can you explain what is different with the hinges and how is the rear supported if the support arches and vertical beams are removed for the spacious interior? The pic below will answer both of your questions: 1. The positioning of the long technic door hinge was repositioned from the bottom (in the official RGS) to the top (in JAG). This way, the doors fits more to the body, decreases the visible gaps, and gives more headspace for the minifigs 2. The photo in the first page is a 'trick shot', there is actually a column of stacked trans-clear 2x1 bricks that supports the weight in the rear part, I just removed them for presentation purposes. I love it i give it 2  good job Why thank you legoman234. Edited August 26, 2010 by KielDaMan Quote
