Posted August 10, 201014 yr Hello fellows, the weeks I've still thinking about a harbour and here is a first outlook of the beginning.
August 10, 201014 yr WOW that looks huge . I like the big and wide docks but feel that they should have stuff on them like barrels, crates, ship supplies, ect. Also, could you take some pictures of the whole thing with out ships too. I think that it might give us a better idea of what it looks like since the ships distract from the picture a bit. I can't wait to see updates on this, keep it up.
August 21, 201014 yr Author Here a total view of the harbour at the current state: I've insert some life, some market wifes selling food: No harbour without guards for keeping up justice ;): Some lungering people and a loving leutant and his girl: Last but not least the crane of the shipyard as been installed:
August 21, 201014 yr Looks great. Try to just add a little more detail i would say. if you can make the black docks brown, and it would look amazing.
August 22, 201014 yr That's a huge layout . I really like the peddeler selling the food and the soldiers on patroll. One thing I would change is the crane, it seems too modern or steampunk and not really pirate. Great job though.
August 24, 201014 yr Author May you are right with the crane. Do you have some "drawing" from another model? That would be awesome.
August 24, 201014 yr May you are right with the crane. Do you have some "drawing" from another model? That would be awesome. I would say to go with something similar to the on Soldiers Fort, only a larger scale. about the same hiegt as the building the crane is on, maybe a few inches taller, but i dont think it needs to be quite as tall as what you have now. Then all you need is essentially the same rope winding mechanism and a larger shaft that guides the rope(i hope i am making sense).
August 24, 201014 yr This looks great and the market chicks are awesome XD. Keep up the good work, this looks very promising!
August 24, 201014 yr i think it would be really cool if you could create something likethis: it's the Crane-Gate, one of the historic landmarks of Gdansk, one of my favourite cities worldwide, and i guess that in the time frame that we're talking about, this would have been one of the larger cranes ... edit. link fix Edited August 25, 201014 yr by kabel
August 24, 201014 yr May you are right with the crane. Do you have some "drawing" from another model? That would be awesome. Well, ZCerberus has wonderfull cranes in his Fort easton, the pieces you will need is in his Brickself, theres a pic what pieces you will need to do it. And if you like, the Soldiers Fort`s crane is cool too, hope this helps a bit Captain Becker
August 25, 201014 yr Author Thanks to Cpt. Becker and ZCerberus for his great contruction and very good pictures. I think you meant this crane? I will redesign the crane and maybe I name the shipyard ZCerberus-Yard
August 25, 201014 yr Thanks to Cpt. Becker and ZCerberus for his great contruction and very good pictures. I think you meant this crane? I will redesign the crane and maybe I name the shipyard ZCerberus-Yard Aye! Thats the crane, And ZCerberus-Yard sounds nice, at least Z can say at he has his own crane yard and he can be proud of it. I mean at how many can say the same? Captain Becker
September 20, 201014 yr Author Well I'm still building on the harbour and have done a little changes so far and start with building some cranes. But I didn't get a picture at the weekend so I made a 3D model for presenting it. The cranes are looking like this: Edited September 20, 201014 yr by Kerntechniker

Away from my bricks and busy with non-lego stuff I've started to contruct some digital parts of the harbour. The merchants houses in the background of the Gdansk picture make me bricking this house. Comments are welcome.
September 27, 201014 yr Yea´h, that looks pretty neat, I really dig the houses with the gables towards the street front. I too tried to produce stuff like that but just recently took it apart because I needed the parts for another project. However, the good thing about Gdansk is, that the Polish rebuild it the way it looked in the 18th century. (before we Prussians/Germans took posession of it). What's missing in your moc tough, is a kind of front Porch the merchant houses have in Gdansk, it really adds to their specific flavor.
September 28, 201014 yr Author @ Kabel, thanks for the good picture. I get what you mean. So I've something to do this evening and maybe I should travel to Gdansk for a weekend. ;) It seems a great source of Inspiration for the harbour, in special for the buildings. UPDATE 10/10/04 I've been designing a new house and as you can see there are something new ;) Edited October 4, 201014 yr by Kerntechniker
October 31, 201014 yr while scrutenizing the web for pictures of typcial Baltic Sea towns I came across this picture of an old harbour crane, maybe that's something else to use as a source of inspiration :
