gotoAndLego Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) I took advantage of B&N's 40% off coupon to pick up Battle of Almut. Then I had to figure out what to make with all those great POP colors. Not only is it my first town MOC, but my first attempt at a modular building, my Bridge & Watchtower not withstanding. I was going to wait until the interior is finished to post it, but I'm anxious to show you guys it. Any suggestions are always welcomed. Cheers Edited August 15, 2010 by gotoAndLego Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Very nice modular restaurant 'gotoAndLego' - is there any interior ? I do like the fenders from racers being used as an awning and great work on the brickwork ! I'm a conformist! 'gotoAndLego' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) Very nice modular restaurant 'gotoAndLego' - is there any interior ? Thanks and not yet. I do like the fenders from racers being used as an awning... I don't think I've seen them used that way before. The trans-clears underneath the awning are lights for the table. Rick Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Great way to use those PoP arches. Whereas the mix of tiles and studs works well on the ground floor with the dark-tan, to be honest I don't really like the look on the second floor. But other than that: nice little restaurant. Quote

Is it the mix, or do you feel the contrast between the white and dark red is too great regardless of the plates or tiles used? Edited August 12, 2010 by gotoAndLego Quote
Rick Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Is it the mix, or do you feel the contrast between the white and dark red is too great regardless of the plates or tiles used? The white and dark-red look great together if you ask me, however, on second thought it may be a bit too much dark red for the surface you have. And I would definitely stick to tiles only. Quote
Flare Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Cool! I love the modulars, and Prince of Persia mixed in makes an excellent MOC! Nice job, gotoAndLego! ~Flare Quote
-JaMMiT- Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Very good post, I really hope to see more of these! I will try to create one like this someday. (This should be fun) Quote
Fires-storm Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Well done, but I kind of think the top would look better with tan tile instead of dark red. other then that, nice job Quote
The Soup Nazi Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) It's great that you took the PoP pieces and made a restaurant- for city! My only complaint is the colors for the second floor. Other than that, nice job Edited August 12, 2010 by The Soup Nazi Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Great, I like how you effectively use the PoP parts for this Persian restaurant, the arches really give it the Persian look. It's really very good for your first modular building IMO. Can't wait to see the interiors. Quote
JimBee Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Nice one. I really like the colors on the first floor, and the blue floor tiles are a good choice. The slanted roof is also nicely done. The awning is what caught my attention the most, though. Seriously, using the motorcycle mud guards was genius. I do agree with Rick on the second floor, though. The dark red tiles don't look like they belong, and the overall bright color scheme does not match with that of the rest of the MOC. Quote
irvinelmo Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 (edited) Hi, Nice design.I like to appreciate your creativity. You have done a good job.I have ever seen these kind of good design. Thanks for sharing this. Edited August 15, 2010 by Dragonator Removed suspicious link Quote
Big Cam Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I think it looks really good and blends in to th ebuilding nicely. I could see this on the streets of New York or the sandy roads of Egypt. Great job! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 (edited) Quick update, I changed the second floor tiles to tan, turns out I had enough...who knew. I kept the now tan plates and used 2 2x1 tiles instead of 1 1x4 tile. Having the line separating the two tiles makes it work visually. I know that the backs are usually sealed up, and I do like my bricked arches but I'm thinking about opening up the back like the new family home set because this would allow you to see the interior without having to lift the higher floors or roofs off. What do you modular builders think about doing something like this? One of my neighbors is starting a Persian restaurant. What kind of food is Persian food? One of my fav joints is the Imperial Fez. as they have bellydancers, Princess Leia here I come. The awning is what caught my attention the most, though. Seriously, using the motorcycle mud guards was genius. The ends give it a tassled appearance so they work well. Edited August 14, 2010 by gotoAndLego Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I like this version with the tan colors better than the the previous version with the dark red colors. Very nice use of the arches. Quote
prateek Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Wow. The front is just so overwhelmingly awesome! I love the small splashes of gold. It really makes it look fancy Quote
gotoAndLego Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) And now for the backstory... In the ill-conceived comic sequel to Sands of Time, Nizam opens a restaurant. Life gets zany when Nizam and Tamina hire a young bartender named Dastan. Nizam's partner Amar recently paid for some much needed upgrades, like street signage. prateek Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Top class sign. Now it really fits in to the modular street! Quote
Rick Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 The final version looks great. I like the taller roof decorations and the brick-built sign. Quote
elkapitan Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 the final version is great nice work cheers Quote
