I took advantage of B&N's 40% off coupon to pick up Battle of Almut. Then I had to figure out what to make with all those great POP colors. Not only is it my first town MOC, but my first attempt at a modular building, my Bridge & Watchtower not withstanding. I was going to wait until the interior is finished to post it, but I'm anxious to show you guys it. Any suggestions are always welcomed.

Cheers

Very nice modular restaurant 'gotoAndLego' :sweet: - is there any interior ?

I do like the fenders from racers being used as an awning and great work on the brickwork !

I'm a conformist! 'gotoAndLego' I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

Thanks and not yet.

I don't think I've seen them used that way before. The trans-clears underneath the awning are lights for the table.

Great way to use those PoP arches. Whereas the mix of tiles and studs works well on the ground floor with the dark-tan, to be honest I don't really like the look on the second floor. But other than that: nice little restaurant. :classic:

Is it the mix, or do you feel the contrast between the white and dark red is too great regardless of the plates or tiles used?

The white and dark-red look great together if you ask me, however, on second thought it may be a bit too much dark red for the surface you have. And I would definitely stick to tiles only.

It's great that you took the PoP pieces and made a restaurant- for city! My only complaint is the colors for the second floor. Other than that, nice job

Great, I like how you effectively use the PoP parts for this Persian restaurant, the arches really give it the Persian look. It's really very good for your first modular building IMO. Can't wait to see the interiors.

Nice one. I really like the colors on the first floor, and the blue floor tiles are a good choice. The slanted roof is also nicely done.

The awning is what caught my attention the most, though. Seriously, using the motorcycle mud guards was genius.

I do agree with Rick on the second floor, though. The dark red tiles don't look like they belong, and the overall bright color scheme does not match with that of the rest of the MOC.

I think it looks really good and blends in to th ebuilding nicely.

I could see this on the streets of New York or the sandy roads of Egypt.

Great job!

Quick update, I changed the second floor tiles to tan, turns out I had enough...who knew. I kept the now tan plates and used 2 2x1 tiles instead of 1 1x4 tile. Having the line separating the two tiles makes it work visually.

I know that the backs are usually sealed up, and I do like my bricked arches but I'm thinking about opening up the back like the new family home set because this would allow you to see the interior without having to lift the higher floors or roofs off. What do you modular builders think about doing something like this?

One of my neighbors is starting a Persian restaurant. What kind of food is Persian food?

One of my fav joints is the Imperial Fez. as they have bellydancers, Princess Leia here I come.

The awning is what caught my attention the most, though. Seriously, using the motorcycle mud guards was genius.

The ends give it a tassled appearance so they work well.

And now for the backstory...

In the ill-conceived comic sequel to Sands of Time, Nizam opens a restaurant. Life gets zany when Nizam and Tamina hire a young bartender named Dastan. Nizam's partner Amar recently paid for some much needed upgrades, like street signage.
