MOC: Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop

Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop is located in a side street off the main road in Hogsmeade. It's a small tea shop owned by Madam Puddifoot favoured among Hogwarts couples, and was where Harry Potter and Cho Chang went to on Valentine's Day in 1996.

After a hard day of work Madam Puddifoot is cleaning things a bit up. She has just put the milk bottles outside and is now cleaning the front of her little tea shop a bit. It's getting dark outside and her cat wants to get in.

I'm waiting on some orders to complete a bigger Hogsmeade building, so I started building this today. And it's already done, yay. It was going to have two floors, but if so I had to use bricks from the other building and it's only a tea shop, so it's small. Hope you liked it!

Wonderful MOC, Matn. When a very interesting idea meets a brilliant builder, this is what happens! The pink roofing is just perfect, and the flowers, teacups, and kitten are completely relevant and hilarious. For some reason I'm not recognizing Puddifoot's face. Where is it from?

This is neat, Matn! I have never seen this in anything Harry Potter before, but I like it a lot any ways. I never thought of putting the flowers like that. All the little details really tie it together.

I like the use of the flowers and teacups as decals, along with the pink roof, it is very similar to how i pictured the actual building. It has excellent woodwork too! The door technique appears interesting, could you tell us a bit more about that? Does it have any interior?

This would make an excellent start to a Hogsmeade diorama .

Very nice cottage! I like the white panelling. It looks very cool. One thing, though, I fear for those brown 1x1 clips holding the cups. They will snap any minute.

Great MOC. Where did you ever get that many pink slopes? O_o It looks terrifyingly quaint, just like in the books. The Tudor style works really well (especially the pink flowers in the white bits - excellent touch!)

Congrats on getting the canonical date of their date right, too.

What a lovely MOC Matn! What I love the most is the fact this isn't even in the film, so you only had a description in the book to go by and I have to say its perfect.

What with your MOC of the Burrow and your huge Hogwarts Castle, your MOCs get better and better! Keep it up.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I really appreciate it! I ordered the magenta bricks from Bricklink, together with a batch for my other Hogsmeade building. Then I almost ordered bright pink to use (instead of white), but then I realised it would cost way too much, there are useful headlight and technic bricks and white, and it would look too pink.

For some reason I'm not recognizing Puddifoot's face. Where is it from?

The head is from a Speed Racer set, from the Trixie minifigure.

The door technique appears interesting, could you tell us a bit more about that? Does it have any interior?

It's not very complicated, just plates on their side with a headlight brick between them. I did use an official LEGO wooden door, in dark red, but it would be to wide to fit. It doesn't have an interior because of few things: the door stands in the way, it would use too much of my bricks and most importantly: I'm going to use this tea shop in a Hogsmeade layout, so there's no real point of having an interior for events.

One thing, though, I fear for those brown 1x1 clips holding the cups. They will snap any minute.

No worries, they actually fit pretty well and won't come of (if you don't touch the cups )

And don't worry, it works much better as one-story house. Can't wait to see more of your Hogsmead!

You're right. I've experimented today with the other taverns of Hogsmeade and it just doesn't look very good either. The Three Broomsticks and the Hog's Head will only be a little bit bigger because I want all the buildings to look good together so I don't want to much height differences. It would also take up many bricks, having a whole town of two storage houses in this style.

Yeah, those two should definitely be larger than the rest, though not by much. After all, The Three Broomsticks has a second floor in the movies.

You did a great job on the house. Wish I was still able to build. Not really any time anymore to build. I hate getting older.. You get into these stumps.. when you can't build anything for the life of you.. Your lucky you still have the capability. I wish someone invented Viagra for the builder.. when you think you lost it... It comes back to you & you are inspired to build great things once again..

My wife has been doing all the building lately.. making gardens and such. She found a new use for clown hair..
