October 2, 201014 yr Oh noez. I have many rare pieces, and old sets that are hard to find. In the place where I live, LEGO is a very rare toy! (Surprisingly), so if that would happen, I'd just give up, since to get a simple set, I have to plan trips and crap, so no, it would be the end of the world.
October 2, 201014 yr I have thought of this before and I think I would at the OP why not. This time around I would keep the instuctions in books. Edited October 2, 201014 yr by LEGOMAN132
October 3, 201014 yr Honestly, if such an 'opportunity' presented itself I would probably take the time to streamline my collection removing those sets I don't have a lot of use for and replacing them with something a bit more useful for my MOCing purposes. Still, my collection is also made from a large number of bricklink orders so replacing it would be difficult.
October 5, 201014 yr I don't buy sets any more, I mostly buy lots or parts. If I had to start over I would design the models first in LDD, then purchase the relevant parts from S@H or BrickLink. Im with him. It would be sad to lose everything, but buying it all back is quite out of question for me. I would probably purchase the set that I love, and leave the rest. Or, I could save all the money and buy a MISB 6399.
October 5, 201014 yr I'd probably skip a lot of the Star Wars sets and funnel that money into more copies of Castle and Adventurer stuff. I might also pick up the landmark sculpture sets (Statue of Liberty, Taj Mahal, etc.) Steve
October 19, 201014 yr Suppose all your Lego is destroyed... You have enough money to buy every single set/brick back, even at current prices... Would you do/buy it all again?... *I worked and paid for every set I bought since I came out of my dark ages, so except for maybe one set, I would buy them all again. I mean, all the modulars, the town plan... Who would want to give up on those?! *I basicly bought none of my pre dark age-sets myself. They were gifts from Saint Nicolas, birthdays etc... I guess I would streamline my old collection and keep out some sets. The money I would save might just be enough to buy the One set that's missing from my "old" collection: So, to summarize the summary of the summary: I'd probably try to get most of my stuff back. I really like what I've got.
October 19, 201014 yr I would not try actively restoring my collection. I would probably buy my favorite stuff back if given a chance to do it but I would not seek for it all around. I would instead buy new models and stuff.
October 19, 201014 yr That's a very interesting question. The biggest part of my collection was bought by my parents when I was a kid. Most sets are from the 80's and some from the 90's. I buy some sets myself these days. I really love the older sets... To answer your question - Yes, if something bad happens, I will try to collect again these sets. Nostalgia is such a freat thing, isn't it? It's a part of my childhood, after all.
