CisFran Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Slightly yes but nothing noticeable , the boom clicks when fully up or down but this is normal, it's the clutch in the la,s. everything works great to be honest, well worth the build. Thanks. I just finished building my regular 8043. I will enjoy it first then build the Ultimate in the next few months Quote
davidmull Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) Made a rear cover for my ultimate 8043,can be removed easily, what u think? http://s306.beta.photobucket.com/user/david961/media/0294843D-ACF4-4622-8146-B91121348ED8-6118-00000999562A9E79.jpg.html Edited February 5, 2013 by davidmull Quote
CisFran Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 that's nice. but I'm sure it's pretty expensive for those yellow panels Quote

davidmull Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Another angle sent from David with black border added ! Nice mod!!! Thanks for putting up the picture sapo, I added the black sides to make it look exactly like the real jcb js330. If anyone didn't know we figured out this was the real machine exactly like 8043 :) lego Definitely went off the js330 as its the most similar. http://www.motorstown.com/imgs/58449-jcb-js-330-2.html Quote

Markus1972 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Sorry for my poor english as I am non-english speaker. I built my 8043 set in early 2011 and had been putting it onto shelf, until I found recently that the two actuators supporting the boom were getting very weak even with new batteries installed. Inspired by the MOC from this post but without too many extra parts from my own, eg, the expensive 8878 rechargable battery, I decided to give it a try to pack my default AA batteries box with 6 motors plus some extra relocation of the modules. The result is good with all functions working simultaneously . Here you are some pictures with brief decscription, enjoy! Hi Gerger, I very much like your design, I also want to avoid to buy the expensive rechargable battery. What is the 3rd L-motor used for? Do you have more pictures of the modification? At the moment I can not imagine how to rebuild the gearing for all the functions. Best regards Markus Quote

Best regards Markus Just use jurgens instructions. No need for L motors in this, it works great. And the xl motor works well for lifting the boom. Also iv just bought 8878 battery and its great, no more buying dam batteries :) Edited February 10, 2013 by davidmull Quote
davidmull Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I'm just after noticing something on my ultimate 8043, the right hand track struggles, u can hear the draw on the motor! Is this because its geared different to the original 8043? Iv checked all gearing and everything is fine.the reason I'm only noticing this now is i have just ran my original 8043 that i have and the right track runs much better, any ideas? Is it because now i run 7.2 volts maybe? Also my original 8043 has more power with the normal batterie box and lithium 1.5v batteries! Iv only charged my 8878 once for an hour. On the contrary the ultimate 8043 is a way way better machine. Any ideas to the above would be great thanks. David. Quote
CisFran Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 My original 8043 also runs in 7.2 volts since I'm using rechargeable AA's Quote
davidmull Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) The finished product with stickers, mirror and rear engine hood. Edited February 11, 2013 by davidmull Quote
davidmull Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Neatly fitted a beacon bar , finishes it off nice i think :) was able to order the light and old type extension wire which plugged into the technic extension wire 8886. Maybe a single beacon might be nicer but they only come with a white base. Edited February 13, 2013 by davidmull Quote
CisFran Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 does it still has the track problems you mentioned before? Quote
davidmull Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) does it still has the track problems you mentioned before? Slightly one track struggles but nothing major, worked better after giving 8878 a full charge :) Its down to the more complex gearing that's all. Great set though with this mod :) Edited February 13, 2013 by davidmull Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Did you try using a old style diff going though the middle of the turntable? Quote
davidmull Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Did you try using a old style diff going though the middle of the turntable? I'm not sure what u mean? For some reason one track is driven by 8/24 which runs fine, the other that struggles runs 16/16 gears,I think this is the problem, if u change this side to 8/24 it would run too slow, there must be a reason jurgen done it this way. Do both tracks on jurgens zorex-220 drive well or have the same power? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I think it is the same, but it does not use a diff ether. Quote
