I built Ultimate 8043, and its way better than original. Great job Jurgen!

But I made my own modification out of modification

I used the standard battery box, and did not use lights or extension cable, (Because I don't own ones, or small battery box)

To use the standard battery box, I made few changes in the inner structure and panels on the right side. It's possible, if somebody wondered.

The structure is solid.

If somebody wants more details, just ask :)

Great work, your modification! A good solution for using a standard BB box, so it's not necessary to buy the expensive charging BB.

Just finished Jurgen's Ultimate 8043, with big bucket modif and a flashing light. Wow, that was hard... making a model based on pictures is difficult, but fun!

I finished the Ultimate 8043 also, except I didn't have an XL motor so I just used an M motor in it's place and it still works great. Thanks Jurgen for the excellent MOC and instructions!

Just been playing with my stock version with my son. It's slow, unhappy and clunky. I didn't build it. I bought it second hand, boxed and all. It defo needs the upgrades.

So how do I do this as this is my first moc, mod non offical build.

The instructions I'm going to get printed off into a booklet. Do it proper.

Parts.... Is there a list or website to get them all.

I built the Ultimate 8043 a few months ago and recently ordered up 3 XL motors from Lego. The XL for the boom is quite loud, so I tried the other ones and same thing. Is this normal? Also, what would I have to modify if I wanted to use the other 2 XL's for both tracks? Could anyone whip up an LDD for me?

Sorry for my poor english as I am non-english speaker.

I built my 8043 set in early 2011 and had been putting it onto shelf, until I found recently that the two actuators supporting the boom were getting very weak even with new batteries installed. Inspired by the MOC from this post but without too many extra parts from my own, eg, the expensive 8878 rechargeable battery, I tried to pack the default AA batteries box with 6 motors plus some extra work around for more space to align the IR receivers, etc.. it's a great set to play with and her are some overview.

I created a LDD file to document my earlier MOCs (post #165) when i was disassembling my own version of 8043 with some minor changes, see if that's helpful.

Hey guys, i just built my Ultimate 8043, it is really cool.

but there is a small problem that the left and right side drives in different speed so it cannot just go straight .( i noticed that some guys also complain about this issue)

i think it is because of the gearing design is different between 2 side, the right side gears are way complex than the left side, so my solution is replace the right side motor from M motor to L motor .

after i made this change, it works perfectly fine, hope this small tips can solve your problem.

Also i have extend the length of the boom so it can help to go through some blocks.

Just (almost) finished Jurgens version of the 8043. As one of the receivers had an error, I had to disassemble the side with the cables again. Now I have the problem again how to "store" them (cables) in a good way in the chasis. Can please anybody give me a good hint or so how to manage this properly?
