davidmull Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I think it is the same, but it does not use a diff ether. What's making it sluggish? So one track slightly struggles on the zorex too? What's the advantage of using a diff? Quote
Ensonic Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Thanks Jurgen for that outstanding Mod. You should have earned 10 € for that instructions, too. After that build I will build the Backhoe. This might be outstanding too. The battery arrived after 4 days from Wassermann, that was fast! One little question. To charge the battery, do you have to remove the left panel too, to get to the charging jack / port? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) If it is the rechargeable battery box that you should see a black input jack on the top. http://shop.lego.com...attery-Box-8878 If you bought the AAA box that underneath you will need to remove the two screws to gain access to were to insert the battery's. http://www.google.co...Q9QEwBA&dur=406 Edited March 2, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

Yes u have to pull out the left panel to charge 8878, Also iv just build the backhoe and it's a masterpiece and even better than the ultimate 8043. It's expensive but worth every penny :) U will see my pics of the backhoe in jurgens backhoe tread. Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 One little question. To charge the battery, do you have to remove the left panel too, to get to the charging jack / port? No, you shouldn't have to remove anything if you want to recharge the 8878. It was designed for the 8878. If you have the AAA-box, you'll have to take some parts off. Quote
Ensonic Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 hm... , my charger from wassermann has a long straight plug that doesn't fit into the charging jack. the side panel is in the way.... No big deal. fantastic model that will stay, asembled in the tray. Quote

I have to pull back the side cover to charge too, it's no big deal, i will also leave the model assembled though the battery is now removed and in the backhoe :) Quote
Ensonic Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 the battery stays in the 8043! I am so glad that I won the fight against the cables :D For the Backhoe I will order a another battery from wassermann. Quote

I am so glad that I won the fight against the cables :D For the Backhoe I will order a another battery from wassermann. I might just order a spare 88000 battery , anyway when u build the backhoe 8043 seems a lot less fun so u won't worry about it :) Quote
Eigenbroetler Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Just built this model, and i enjoyed it a lot. i have just one thing that bothers me, when the dipper is fully "in" and the boom is fully "up" the bucket movement is quite noisy and shaky, i guess its because of the angles the joints are in at that moment that are a bit to extreme. am i the first who have noticed this or have i made some mistake? other that that im happy, altough it is very slow in driving :D Quote
snot Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) Just got through building ultimate 8043 this weekend after finally collecting all the pieces I needed. Such a massive improvement over the original set. Love it. Money well spent! I removed the back top left body panel so that I could recharge without pulling the left side off. Then I used a few liftarms to bring back the structural stability and good looks I lost from removing the panel. It doesn't look quite as good but greatly improves the functionality. I'm having trouble making my fumbly fingers maneuver the slew and boom at the same time so I'm contemplating tearing down the red joystick and then building it back as a mirror image of itself. I would have to reverse the way the slew/boom motors are plugged into the receiver but otherwise it should function just the same (but with that little bit of play on the right side of itself instead of the left). I've started building a flush lid to go over the motors but I'm not sure if the added weight is worth it. It drives pretty slow as it is. Thank you Jurgen. This has been so much fun! Brewc Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Built this last year was a good 3-4 day build and took many re-tries for me to get it right the get the upper arm to line up and work, I went from PC and ipad for instructions instead of printing . I love it but, time to let it go any ideas what it would be worth? Sorry if that last part is not part of forum rules just curious Quote
tbird8057 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Where does the bush in photo 96 end up? I couldn't figure that one out. Quote
xbatmanx Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Sorry for bringing back an old post... Can this be built with the regular battery pack instead of the 88000 or 8878 rechargeable???? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 It is not designed to fit the regular battery box,but you may be able to modify the body to allow the regular battery box to fit. Quote
afol1969 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Hi there, I've finally finished to build the Ultimate 8043 http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/20/252320/3264356562623838.jpg But I had some problems with the instructions where some steps are not very clear that I'd made some mistakes before I arrived to finish the 8043 with fully working functions. So I've decided to combine the instructions with more photos and signs to pieces to better see where they belong. I've made the first part of the instructions, here some examples: http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/20/252320/3438623033666338.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/20/252320/6236383133326561.jpg http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/20/252320/3761323862353439.jpg Hope I'll finish the instructions during next week Greetings Alex Quote
yepyep14u2know Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Hi, I just found a really good deal on eBay for the 8043! Now I must painstakingly wait for shipping, but while I'm waiting I want to order the parts for the ultimate model and I'm not sure what extra is needed. Do I just need to order the 8878 with charger, an XL motor and another IR remote control or are there other parts required also? Quote
Theo van Vroenhoven Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) Check www.rebrickable.com Use the 'Compare sets' option to compare 8043-1 and MOC-0080 and you will find out that you need 277 extra parts to build the Ultimate 8043. Enjoy! Edited November 15, 2013 by Theo van Vroenhoven Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Or use the Brickstore XML-parts list on my website.http://www.jurgenstechniccorner.com Quote
afol1969 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Just for note: During next week I'll publish an MLCAD Version of Jurgens' Ultimate Excavator. There will be a full part list included. Jurgen gave me some tips to make some corrections an notes to do, then I'll make the first version (PDF file) online. As I don't have the time to dismantle an rebuild the excavator, so I need information if there are some errors or something unclear in the instructions, that I can publish a second and final version. Here a first impression: Best greetings Alex Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) Looks very good, what are the main differences between your instructions and jurgens? Don't forget to add the flex hose on the cab. Edited November 16, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
afol1969 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Looks very good, what are the main differences between your instructions and jurgens? Don't forget to add the flex hose on the cab. There are no differences (only the tiles and some more pins), it's a copy from Jurgens' photo instructions. As I would build his version, I'd made some errors, so I partially had to dismantle it before I finally finished it. Some steps were not very clear to follow - for me. And as I found the original 8043 MLCAD file from Strikeman, I decided to modify it to Jurgens' Ultimate Version. It was a good exercise for me to get common with MLCAD. And yes, I've the flex hoses too in the instructions, but this file was made on an other Computer where LSynth isn't installed. Greetings Alex Quote
yepyep14u2know Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 So I got my 8043 today, but I noticed an issue and I'm trying to figure out how to fix it without tearing the whole thing apart. The problem lies in the red switch that changes modes. It sticks and barely turns with the motor. I'm thinking a connection might be too tight? Any advice on what to remove without complete dismantling would be appreciated. I'm waiting on the extra parts to arrive for the ultimate model, until then I'd like to enjoy the basic model without this problem. Thanks! Quote
