Darth Jar Jar Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 (edited) Well I went to the so called grand opening off the westfield lego store after seeing and ad on westfields site saying the grand opening for the lego store was today so got dressed quickly and got in the car and drove there It wasn't as big as I had expected There were no freebies at all so I was rather disappointed I was going to buy general grevious star fighter brought it up to the counter can I use my V.I.P points to get 10 pound off no we don't do V.I.P yet I was very angry The Pick a brick selection was ok but all it really had was some trans red 1 by 1 plates and some trans clear cheese slopes. Though I spoke to an employe and there will be another six lego stores opening in the UK next year Edited November 19, 2010 by Darth Jar Jar Quote
Fugazi Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Though I spoke to an employe and there will be another six lego stores opening in the UK next year That's great news if true, hope they won't all be in the Greater London area! Quote
escortmad79 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 That's great news if true, hope they won't all be in the Greater London area! Hopefully some north of Manchester!! That would be nice!! Jar Jar: Any idea where they're opening the new stores? Quote

buddy Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Though I spoke to an employe and there will be another six lego stores opening in the UK next year I hope one of these six will be in the town I live in (my wallet wouldn't be pleased though )! ~buddy~ Quote
Peppermint_M Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Well, if the "grand" opening was a bit lame, I will wait until the friday instead, seeing as I have a day off booked then. Moving it would be awkward. Plus on intel from my sister and her tame AT-AT pilot, some of the UK Garrison will turn up close to the opening (possibly Saturday 11th) so more might happen then. Quote
iangreig Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Both the Westfield & St.David's stores are having a 'soft opening'; both of the 'Grand Opening' events will be in the New Year. I'd take any information from new employees with a huge pinch of salt; there's absolutely no chance of 6 new stores in the UK next year. I can believe 6 new stores across Europe in 2011, maybe two of which will be in the UK. Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Both the Westfield & St.David's stores are having a 'soft opening'; both of the 'Grand Opening' events will be in the New Year. Yes but on the website it said Grand Opening Today Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 My Lego catalogue for christmas had a calander with Cardiff Lego Store Opens! on the Monday 6th December. So, not grand, seeing as it is a school day and everything. I will be going on the Friday or Saturday I think. If anyone scouts it out beforehand... Quote
SilentMode Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I'd be keen to find out what the PAB wall selection is like. I've found the Bluewater store's wall has a slightly better selection than Westfield's store, but I might be tempted to visit Cardiff once the store opens (ticket hikes and all). Quote

buddy Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Thanks for the opening times Peppermint_M, they will come in handy when I plan when to visit. Could I just ask anybody who knows, how much in £s are the various sizes of PAB cups in the UK Lego brand retail stores? Thanks. ~buddy~ Quote
SilentMode Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 how much in £s are the various sizes of PAB cups in the UK Lego brand retail stores? £11 for the large ones, £6 for small ones. At least before the new VAT rate kicks in. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 £11 for the large ones, £6 for small ones. At least before the new VAT rate kicks in. Bottoms, I forgot that little issue. Ok, so massive mega blowout purchases before that happens! Quote
buddy Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 £11 for the large ones, £6 for small ones. At least before the new VAT rate kicks in. Thanks for answering my question, these are about the prices I would expect them to be. ~buddy~ Quote
jm28cardiff Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 Next to the Lego Shop in Cardiff is a shop called "Clas Ohlson", they had some plastic drawer units that would be perfect for storing some Lego in. Quote
buddy Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 I'd just like to ask the people who have been to the Cardiff Lego store recently what the PAB wall's assortment and variety of pieces is like, becuase I plan to be visting in just over a weeks time (if the snow isn't too bad ). Thanks. ~buddy~ Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Not too exciting I'm afraid, bricks and plates, nothing in colours I was looking for. The Build a Minifig was great though. Quote

Thanks for your reply Peppermint_M. That's a shame about the PAB, but great news about the Build a Minifig section. Could I just ask if any of the bricks and plates in the PAB section were in Tan? ~buddy~ Quote
LegoDad42 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Any pics from the store and the exclusives they gave out? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 There wasn't any tan that I noticed. There were no exclusives when I went on the first day of opening, which was annoying. Quote

Peppermint_M Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 The "flyer" I posted and linked, that was on Lego.com said there would be though. That exact weekend... Quote
