Ricecracker Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 On my fairly recent trip to New York City, I noticed many of the vehicles, including cars had various types of bull-bars on the front. The distinct vertical grille of the CityStar posed a challenge with the bull-bar. All large cities have delivery trucks like these - small cabover refrigerated trucks with graffiti on the sides. And yes, Rice is built using regular purple, not dark purple. 肉 means 'meat' in Japanese. Thanks to Def for the translation! Unfortunately, with all of the SNOT work used for the graffiti, there is little room for an interior, much less an opening door. IM are my initials. Even though I didn't manage to get a working door in, there is a slide-out ramp. Thanks! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Excellent truck 'ricecracker' - dam that's a great bullbar.....mind if I might try it ? Cool slide out ramp feature - very clever indeed ! Great looking delivery truck and I'm a conformist! 'ricecracker' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
prateek Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Awesome! The SNOT on it is great, and I love the bull bars Quote
Fires-storm Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Wow, this truly is an insanely good truck! The snot detailing on the side is beautiful, and the bull bars just sell it. Mind if I use that design for bull bars on an apoc truck I'm working on? Quote
Ricecracker Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 Thank you all! Feel free to base the design of your bull-bar off of mine. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 The bull-bars are great, but I must say the brickbuilt RICE and Japanese character are even more amazing! I like the fact that you put effort into it and did not just resort into the easy way out of using decals. Great job Ricecracker! Quote
Rick Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Great work on the bull bar. Are they really this 'high', otherwise the 3-wide bars (available from the strongman's weights from the series 2 collectible figs) might be a good - future - solution. The graffiti and the slide out ramp are cool touches too. Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) Excelent SNOT on the truck and Im Just the graffiti. I realy like the slide out ramp to and the bull bars Edited August 23, 2010 by Darth Jar Jar Quote
Ricecracker Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 Thanks, again! Often times, no, they aren't that high, but on many trucks they are, as you can see here or here. (They're actually the same truck, but it's somewhat hard to tell) Quote
peterab Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 This is a great little truck Ricecracker, and I particularly like the Japanese character on the side. Often times, no, they aren't that high, but on many trucks they are, as you can see here or here. (They're actually the same truck, but it's somewhat hard to tell) In Australia, many of the large trucks which are used between cities have what we call 'Roo Bars' to protect against Kangaroo's. They are easily as large as the ones on your truck, though they are more often fitted on bigger trucks. A Kangaroo will totally destroy a car if it fully hits you. Quote

I would imagine hitting a kangaroo would be much like hitting a deer or moose, so I can imagine what it would do to a vehicle. Here's a pic of a roo bar for those needing to google it. Quote
peterab Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 (edited) Thanks you Peter! Hitting a moose is bad because they're bigger and heavier than a roo, but a big roo at full speed jumps about 10 meters, and can move at 70km/h for short distances. They are pretty hard to see coming, and like to run across roads at dusk. Don't get me started on wombats ... or I'll go off topic again. Edited August 26, 2010 by peterab Quote
