AllanSmith Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I was enjoying the hunt but am now frustrated I can't find the weightlifter or surfer. To compound the situation our internet broadband speed has dropped to dial up speed as we are over our monthly allowance. It can take up to half an our to load one topic page in my search if it has lots of pictures. I just hope the competition stays open after 12 September New Zealand Time when I have better speed. What is the closing date? Quote
Oky Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 So far I got 8/13. Still can't find the cop, skier, spartan, witch, and surfer. But I still have some leads I can follow. It's funny how some are really easy and others are really tricky, never something in between. Finally found the weightlifter. Got to say i thought that clue was ridiculous! No idea how you would get that unless you really knew the subject (which i really didnt!). Resorted to going through every thread till i found it Hehe, 'tis true, you really gotta know the subject to get that one (which I totally did, so I knew exactly where to go)! But some googling should help. Quote
RoryoCox Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Finally got the Spartan after finding something I didn't know existed. Only the Witch to find now, I wonder where it is -Looks to Stars- Quote

To compound the situation our internet broadband speed has dropped to dial up speed as we are over our monthly allowance. It can take up to half an our to load one topic page in my search if it has lots of pictures. Here's a general hint: you can switch off images in your settings, and copy the image URL of the minifig image you're looking for in the first post. While opening topics, use the "find" feature on your browser (Ctrl+F for Windows) and paste the URL and press enter. I sometimes use this technique when opening dozens of tabs in search for these figs so my computer doesn't freeze up. (Hopefully this is legal). Quote

The URL to the minifig you need to find is different to the window ones Whitefang has made available in this thread. I checked this with the first one in the vain hope i could just google the URL and get the figs that way Seems like whitefang had already thought of that !! Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 I just hope the competition stays open after 12 September New Zealand Time when I have better speed. What is the closing date? The last window will be made available on the 10th September. I have not made the official announcement for the submission deadline but it will last for at least another 7 days, likely on or after 17th Sep. I hope this helps. (Hopefully this is legal). I am not sure if you have used that method above but I don't think it's quite possible for you to locate in this manner based on the given windows in the first post. In short, the URLs are different and yes, the EB Staff have already considered that possibility. Dear Eurobricks Community, The exciting moment is coming soon and now we are on the 14th window, Mime Artist - 14th window [8th SEPTEMBER 2010 at 0830HRS, GMT +8] [Poor Mime, why must you be sad? You look so miserable, but at least you've found a friend to cry with. Maybe you could both wear your happy faces instead?] WhiteFang Quote
prateek Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) No offence to the creator, but this is the worst clue ever! It's too vague. EDIT: Nevermind. Found it. It was easy once I remembered something. Edited September 8, 2010 by prateek Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 No offence to the creator, but this is the worst clue ever! It's too vague. The creator is definitely not me. However, this clue can be pretty direct if you read it from a certain angle and think simple by using your existing LEGO knowledge in a particular recent theme (less than 4 years) where you could easily relate this. prateek Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Nevermind! Found it. I was looking at a certain minifig I have on my desk and I remembered something... So I take back whatever I said Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 It's actually a pretty good clue once you get it. Quote
JCC1004 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Quite easy for the mime. The Mexican could be in so many topics. I've already went through a bunch. Quote
Oky Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Found the Skier and Surfer, as well as the mime, which indeed is quite easy. Still missing the stupid Cop, Spartan, and Witch. That's 11/14, so I'm catching up. Quote
Piranha Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Got the Mime, very easy for me Also not one of the two unreleased ones I have found. I am 13-1-2 Therefore I have found all but 1. Still looking for the witch, which is very hard, been looking for an easy 6 hrs +, I have searched everywhere, everything possible, and still no dice. Since I have found all others but that one, I can say that, it is by far the hardest. (for me) Also depends on what the two last clues are, I stumbled upon them by chance, will be fun to see what the clues are Quote
Scop Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 easiest clue for me so far. Did´nt even have to use the search engine :) Quote
Inconspicuous Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Nice clue. Easily findable yet had a good amount of twist to the clue. I'm at 15/14. I'm praying that the next clue will be the only one I haven't found, but I have reasons to believe it won't be. Quote
Quarryman Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Really liked the mime clue, seemed a bit vague at first, but it didn't take long at all, think it was in the fourth topic I checked. So that's 15/16 then, unfortunately the one I'm missing is the last one, so not going to get all before Friday it seems Quote
Rick Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 So that's 15/16 then Same here, which one is going to be the last one? Explorer or Life Guard? Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 Same here, which one is going to be the last one? Explorer or Life Guard? Isn't it obvious? Quote

Rick Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 That one I haven't found yet. He could literally be exploring everywhere... Quote
Cecilie Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I got the mime clue right away, and I found an extra searching for the weightlifter (guess that's what happens when you start searching rather blindly ). Well, found the weightlifter at last too, so only one left now Quote
Siegfried Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Well, found the weightlifter at last too, so only one left now Do you understand the clue now? Quote
Cecilie Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Do you understand the clue now? yes, with some additional googling related to the theme where I found it, I get it. Quote
Siegfried Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 yes, with some additional googling related to the theme where I found it, I get it. Good work! Solving that backwards would be really hard! Quote
Cusm Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I am about to punch my monitor over the stupid Weightlifter. I thought I was going to get it first try, but that theme did not pan out. Then I googled a theme I knew nothing about, thought I hit pay dirt and after looking at every review in the series - BIG FAT NOTHING. Quote
