Edmond Dantes Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 You've said before that we have to link to the specific posts when it's in the OP of the topic. I just can't seem to get to a lot of those posts. I thought by searching the topic title, that we would know that it must be in that topic and couldn't be there by accident. Click on the number in the upper right hand corner of the post. Then, copy the link. It's as simple as that... Left 39 hours and 30 minutes before this hunt is over. 7 chances to win meant your name is written 7 times for draw. The winner will only win 1 prize/minifigure but it will give the person who has 16 images a much higher chance to be drawn. Yes, I know exactly what it means - but if you pick my name first, I still have six entries in the raffle, so if you pick my name again I was wondering if I would win again, or if you'd just throw it out. Now I have the answer (you'd throw it out). Quote
Piranha Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Now what would be hilarious is that if no one who found all 16 won Not very likely to happen but still a chance. (albeit small ) After the contest is over I too would like to share some fig finding techniques I used Finding out who hid the clues helped alot, you have to think like them Quote
Inconspicuous Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I finished finding all 16 several minutes after the last was posted, but I haven't had a chance to send a PM until now. Thanks to Dark/WhiteFang for organizing this all, and a to those who contributed to all the clue making. I eagerly await the results! Quote
CMP Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Found my 14, I have at least 1 shot. It was the Explorer. Must've seen that topic a million times, just didn't read the whole thing. I still need the Witch and the Mime... Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 7 hours remaining! Please note that PM submission after the mentioned deadline will be considered as rejected. Quote
DarkFang Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Just a note to all who have submitted earlier, you will definitely receive an acknowledgement reply from me. If you did not receive and claim to submit, please re-submit again because I have not seen that PM request. Thanks. Quote
prateek Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 So when can we expect to find the winners? Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 So when can we expect to find the winners? I bet by Monday. Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 Just a note to inform all that the hunt is now over. Stay tune for the results in the next few days. Quote
prateek Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Kewl. Next few days sounds reasonable, unlike some other raffles I've taken part in, where the results took over a week, just for a draw Quote
DarkFang Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I am very serious right now... If you think you have send me a PM and not receive any acknowledgment from me aka DarkFang by "NOW"... Please RE-SUBMIT NOW. I am giving at least 12 more hours based on this post for others who think have submitted but not received any... After the extra timing is up, I won't entertain any of such claims. Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I've just noticed that DarkFang only has 9 out of his 21 posts visible to me. Quote
Oky Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Well, I give up. I just can't crack the clue for the Spartan. I gave each word in the clue into the search engine, looked through most reviews in the action themes and action figures forums, and tried all kinds of ways to think outside the box, but came out with a big fat nothing. Oh well, 3 raffles chances are good enough, I guess. I have sent my PM and am waiting to experience a "Doh!"-moment when the locations of the images are revealed. You will reveal them at the end, right? Quote
Jebediahs Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) Thank you for a fun contest. I had a great time exploring. - You found me! ORC! Edited September 19, 2010 by Jebediahs Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 The Mystery Hunt is officially over. No more PM submission. Raffles submission will be process shortly. Yes, I will be revealing the links at the end of everything. Thank you for a fun contest. I had a great time exploring. That is a fun comic strip! Quote
Siegfried Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I've just noticed that DarkFang only has 9 out of his 21 posts visible to me. He's been discussing his new job in the Staff Forum. Well the names have been picked by my random machine, but it's up to White/DarkFang to post them. To keep you all busy, here are the links to the clues by me, with a small explanation of what I was on about. Feel free to insult my clues. 1) Vampire [He's home playing Mahjong.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Not very hard; the MOC featured the actual figure, it was recent, and it was easily searchable. 2) Traffic Cop [He's hanging around with some fellow motorcycle cops, but unlike him in this review they are armless.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Ahh, I loved this one. "Armless" cops... gee I'm so funny. I've used the same joke before so anyone familiar with the early minifigs should have been able to find this fast. If not, this would have been hard. 4) Skier [11 Skis... but no skiers did he find in this review.] [Link provided by Siegfried] This was the first thing that sprung to mind. Should be easy for anyone who owns the set, and if not "11" should have made you think. "Ahh! Off to Peeron I go!" 7) DJ [The DJ went to PSM-2 as he heard DJ Force was there but he didn't get what he expected in the Sci-Fi forum.] [Link provided by Siegfried] I didn't like this clue... but I couldn't think of a better DJ one in the time I had. I didn't want to make it too hard so I said "DJ Force" and since he's a member it was too easy to find. If you didn't pick up (or know) he was a member you would have been in more trouble though! 9) Karate Master [Faster than a speeding rocket he decended to the ocean floor to meet a famous karate expert in a review.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Spongebob Squarepants. Anyone familar with the show (my kids love it) would get this in about 30 seconds. Sandy the Squirrel is Karate obsessed and lives on the bottom of the ocean doing research. Once she made a rocket down there (insane concept, but I digress) and there was a set made of that. 10) Pharaoh [i can't tell you where he is; it's forbidden. But I can tell you it's in a review.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Easy. Probably too easy in fact. It's a review so the first thing you should do is go to a list of Adventures sets, on or off site. Answer found... 11) Weightlifter [He's off in a review to prove he doesn't need venom to be the strongest.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Batman reference. Bane is a character who made himself super strong with a drug called Venom. Knowing that there's only one set Bane was found in. 15) Lifeguard [After failing to find a beach paradise to work on she went to a review about a poolside one.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Also too easy. The words are all there; a paradise that is poolside. Quote
squiz Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Thanks for putting that up siegfried, i enjoyed all of your clues execpt the weightlifter one! I dont know much about batman, and without already knowing about bane and venom, there was no way of linking the two. Quote
Fugazi Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Thanks for putting that up siegfried, i enjoyed all of your clues execpt the weightlifter one! I dont know much about batman, and without already knowing about bane and venom, there was no way of linking the two. Yep, the weightlifter was the most difficult of this batch for me, as I am unfamiliar with Batman references. What saved me though was Peeron (again), searching 'venom' got me minifig parts from the Batman set as results! Quote
RoryoCox Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I am waiting to see the Witch. It'll be so darn obvious I will have to slap myself. Quote
Rick Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I am waiting to see the Witch. It'll be so darn obvious I will have to slap myself. You really had to hunt for the witch... Quote
Siegfried Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I am waiting to see the Witch. It'll be so darn obvious I will have to slap myself. Give me 5... Here are the rest. None of these were made by me, and I won't out the staffer responsible. 3) Pop Star [Where can the Pop Star get a good skirt? It can be found in a tutorial] [Link] 5) Spartan [Take a search for the closest LEGO set there is to a Spartan action figure...] [Link] 6) Witch [it's a witch! As we all know, the best way to deal with witches is to hunt them and put them on trial for their crimes. This noble witch is suitably found paying for its crimes in such a place.] [Link] 8) Ringmaster [Oh god, please help me find my circus. Last I heard it was in a contest MOC] [Link] 12) Surfer [A lot of people would want him to be their sigfig. Can be found in a discussion.] [Link] 13) Mexican [He likes to roams the streets of his village. Can be found in a MOC.] [Link] 14) Mime Artist [Poor Mime, why must you be sad? You look so miserable, but at least you've found a friend to cry with. Maybe you could both wear your happy faces instead?] [Link] 16) Jungle Explorer [is ready to take to the skies in a review] [Link] Quote
RoryoCox Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 *Slaps himself* How did I not get that? I suppose it was my fault, thinking that no one would ever put the picture in a mafia game. Quote
Zorbas Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 [facepalm] Dang, of course...Spongebob set...I searched in EVERY underwater related set I could think of except the obvious... [/facepalm] That was a great one Sieggy! My favorite from Sieggy's is definitely the cop. Very clever! About the Spartan....My story. First I went here. I saw the photo with the MB Halo Spartan being next/close to an Atlantis minifig. I went to Bricklink to see in which LEGO set that minifig is, I went back to EB to check these reviews and after checking I broke my mouse. Quote
squiz Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Yep, the weightlifter was the most difficult of this batch for me, as I am unfamiliar with Batman references. What saved me though was Peeron (again), searching 'venom' got me minifig parts from the Batman set as results! Every search for Lego and Venom came up with the striking venom exo force set. I know nothing about exo force so i trawled that forum for hours searching for the fig! talk about barking up the wrong tree. In the end i resorted to searching through every review on EB! Luckily the lego licensed forum is first, and the batman sets are pretty high up within the review index, so this way only took about 10 minutes!! Quote
prateek Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 The weight lifter hint was no good (no offence). I just happened to stumble upon it because I had an intuition that it was in the Licensed forum. Quote
