Deadraque Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 If it's gone be like the release of Gran turismo 5 or Diablo 3, we gone need MANYYYYYYY patience..... Quote
BrickWild Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Are you getting PMs with complaints about this? I'm not! Quote
prateek Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 If it's gone be like the release of Gran turismo 5 or Diablo 3, we gone need MANYYYYYYY patience..... But GT5 is understandable, but this is just a Lego CAD program. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Hopefully Lego isn't pulling a Duke Nukem Forever Over 10 years of promised release, teaser images, and no actual software. One magazine gave the game a permanent vaporware award. Quote
Randal Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I've been staving off my bit-chomping by reading Discworld books. In the last four weeks, I've read all the Rincewind books, all the Watch books, most all the Tiffany Aching books, and I'm working on the witches books. In the meantime, I've been able to squeak by with Ver 3. =S Quote
Jetro Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 But GT5 is understandable, but this is just a Lego CAD program. Just compare the available budget and expected benefit and you'll see there is much more reason or LEGO to be 'late' than GT5 :) I've been staving off my bit-chomping by reading Discworld books. In the last four weeks, I've read all the Rincewind books, all the Watch books, most all the Tiffany Aching books, and I'm working on the witches books. BrickWild Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Patience everyone! It'll be either later in the month, or probably next month. Quote
Superkalle Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Have you seen the new www.lego.com layout? In one of the intro-animations it gives you a what seems to be yet another look at the new model view in 4.0 with brick outlines and improved shading. No news of 4.0 release date though. Quote
prateek Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Tisk, tisk. Lego is taunting us for no reason. They fully update all the pictures about LDD, yet they don't give us the new version! I'm getting really impatient... Hopefully they realize they forgot something and release it tomorrow Quote
BrickWild Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 It'll be either late October or November. Quote
Randal Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 It'll be either late October or November. and then after that it will be late November or December :/ I hope not, but I think they're pushing it off til after things smooth over with LU, which could take a while. "We're sorry for the wait, but we needed to borrow the LDD coders to help with the LU overflow. Thank you for your patience and understanding." That's my guess, anyway. I know after big patches or new Xpacks for WoW, you'd be hard pressed to find anybody for support help, they're all busy changing things they didn't foresee in the beta. Quote
NecroViolator Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Oman... People guessing and Lego taunting us... I think I might whip out my Taunt Packs I made for UT and start them all at once !!! Still no news, but Im mostly waiting for Serious Sam 3 which should be any month now... Im a lier OK ???... Im biting my nails because I want to BUILD !!!... ;)... Quote
BrickWild Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Okay you guys, stop gossiping & posting 'impatience' comments like this. Quote
CTM Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Hi all, Let me first say that we in 3D Studio (informally known as the LDD team) are very happy and proud that the new release of LDD, version 4, is so eagerly anticipated. I wish I had more concrete news for you (the reason why I have not posted earlier is that I hoped I would have), but what I can essentially say is that LDD 4 is pretty much done but we are waiting for a "launch window" where we can put it online. We were originally scheduled for a late September launch but, as another member at the site correctly guessed, LEGO Universe is pulling a lot of resources these days, and this has made it necessary to reshuffle our launch plans. Of course we would like to get LDD 4 out now that it is done, but LEGO Universe is a very important project to all of us, and launching it successfully, which we are very much on track to do, has top priority. I will let you know when we have an update for you on the launch date for LDD 4. Best regards, Claus Toftegaard Matthiesen Technology Manager, 3D Studio Quote
JopieK Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Well, that at least is good news! We're looking forward to it. Quote

Its good that you (3D Studio Max *joke*) get the Lego Universe in working order and the best of success to you all... Maybe you (and team) at one time or another, will release a Lego Piece creator because there is many of the older Models people want to build... Yes, Im old and have the older Lego... Thanks again... JopieK Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I instructed the system operators to install LDD 3.x then at my highschool. I want to work with LDD in education and it seems LDD 4.0 seems to be delayed too long at this point. Well, 3.x also works fine :) Hope the kids will enjoy LDD as much as we do at EB.com! Quote

That sounds awesome. It almost makes me want to go back to high school. Too bad I already graduated in 2007. I'm curious as to which classes at your school will make use of LDD, and how. At my high school, I took three robotics classes, and because each one used LEGO Mindstorms. In my second class, my team got to use MLCAD to design a robotic tank. -Toa Of Justice Quote
