LegoFreak5 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Why does Lego.com have to delete Castle in order to put in Kingdoms???? Weird. Quote
Captain Becker Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Thats an perfect question what im wondering too :sceptic: I Really would like if that Castle theme would have contiuned but what we can say about this? Life is life and the life must go on Captain Becker Quote
Captain M Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Castle.Lego.com redirects to Kingdoms.Lego.com. Here's the old site: http://web.archive.org/web/20080607103511rn_1/castle.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx Quote
LegoFreak5 Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 I've tried that, Captain M. But thanks for the link! Quote
Vindicare Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I'm guessing because they retired Castle and replaced it with Kingdoms.........wouldn't that make sense? Quote

Stiel Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I guess they are just trying to shake things up a bit, like if they were selling us something new. But we know better. Even our LGS just put in the new sets under Castle. Quote

Svelte Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Can you please phrase your thread titles with more detail or an exact question? Thread such as 'Lego.com - why?' are completely unhelpful for anyone browsing the forum and just waste people's time. I'll change the thread title but be mindful of this in future. Quote

Mirandir Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Well Lego does a complete overhaul of their evergreen themes (city, space, Castle etc) every few years. This year it was Castle's turn. And it's quite different. Two human factions, no trolls, no skeletons and no dragons. And since the new Castle theme's sets came out before the lifespan on all the old Castle sets had run out I guess LEGO felt that a new name was needed so kids could tell them apart. And since Castle is now becoming obsolete while "Kingdoms" is just getting started Castle is being removed from the site. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Seems like LEGO wants to avoid confusing their customer base by removing the old theme and bringing in the new. Its no good having customers requesting products that are no longer stocked when there is a similar new/well stocked theme to replace it. It was a breath of fresh air having the Fantasy based Castle theme, but now its time to embrace some good ol human vs human action Besides the Medieval MArket Village is still available for now. The Yellow Brick Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) I find this weird too, also Alpha team was still up when Agents were released, Plus Mars Mission is still up when SP3 was released, But why do they have too take down castle when Kingdoms is released. TLV Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 But the elves! They never did elves! So true. That was certainly quite disappointing. Perhaps sometime in the future... just like the pirates short comeback after a 10yr hiatus Quote
metalandi Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I don't see the point of this thread. Kingdoms replaced castle, so castle is gone and kingdoms is there. What's the problem? Quote
ANT Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Regarding Elves, can't Forestmen be considered as such somehow? Quote
metalandi Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 No, not at all actually. Forestmen much more represent a "robin hood" group of people. But i'd be happy, if forestmen would make a return in the current line, they'd fit in perfectly. Quote
Stiel Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 But the elves! They never did elves! It is rumoured that an elf minifigure is coming up in Collectible Minifig Series vol. 3. Quote
Norro Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I've always found these transitions annoying (though economically they make perfect sense). I'd love to see Lego market to a group of people who want a line to continue to run with additions made within it's existing scope (classic castle) rather than "New" series that are, in fact, rehashes. But I seem to be in the minority from a marketing standpoint... God Bless, Nathan Quote

Thank you! That's basically what I was saying, they got replaced...that's it. Edited September 1, 2010 by Legocrazy81 Quote
fred67 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It is rumoured that an elf minifigure is coming up in Collectible Minifig Series vol. 3. That doesn't make me happy... up until now I only wanted one or two of each of the collectibles... if they do elves, they'll be like the Spartans are now... probably even worse. I wish they just did Fantasy one more year to do elves before moving on to Kingdoms. Just my two cents. Still... I don't get the OP either. Castle/Fantasy has reached end-of-life, a new theme emerges... it's the cycle of li... uh, I mean, the cycle of LEGO themes. Quote

Castle/Fantasy has reached end-of-life, a new theme emerges... it's the cycle of li... uh, I mean, the cycle of LEGO themes. I guess the point was they could have just made Kingdoms a subtheme of Castle (as it really is). The previous line, now known as Fantasy Era, was officially considered Castle, so why is Kingdoms different? It's pretty counterintuitive to me. Anyway, Brickset knows better too. : Kingdoms on Brickset Quote

metalandi Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The main point is, why should we care how it's called or whatever, as long as the sets are good (and most of them are). I couldn't care less why or if a theme changes its name, cause the only important thing are the sets themselves, really. Quote
