Governor Mister Phes Posted April 20, 2006 Governor Posted April 20, 2006 Here's a raft I found on Brickshelf some time back... This picture is a thumbnail so click on it to view a bigger image. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 17, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 17, 2007 This set looks like its cross between Castaway's Raft and Renegade Raft and made a whole heap bigger. So I pose these questions to ye: 1) Does this frankenstien combination make for an interesting raft? 2) Is the idea original enough or should the creator have put more thought into the design? 3) How could this raft be improved? 4) What features do you lost like about this raft? Quote
exo attack Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 1) Yes 2) I do not know, bu that is because I haven't seen many pirate rafts 3) You may want to take away the light grey, and leave it yellow and black 4) I do not know if that was a typo of least or most so: The things I do not like about this is the big green leaf at the sail looks out of place, and the hook hand pirate should have a different colour of eppaulattes. The things I do like about this raft are The sails, the weapon/oar storage, and the combination of myellow and black. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 18, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 18, 2007 Here are the two rafts I was referring to: 6234 Renegade's Raft 6257 Castaway's Raft Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted March 18, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted March 18, 2007 If I was a smart pirate, and had to be on such a small and defenseless raft, I would remove the Jolly Rogers :-D Who are they going to attack with that raft anyway... now they are giving every ship which passes a reason to blow their little raft to pieces. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 18, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 18, 2007 What gives you the idea they're going to attack anyone on that raft Mr Bonaparte? The impression I get is they've built that raft with whatever they could find, not preparing to go into battle. Quote

I didn't say they are going to attack someone. I just have a feeling they are gonna be attacked. They should cover the Jolly Rogers while they still can. Can't say I didn't warn them... Quote
simonwillems Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 I think you made a nice raft, though with some strange features: Those round yellow pieces in the 6234 are meant to be logs, for floating, but on your raft they do not seem to touch the water.... Why is there a tree growing out of this vessel? Otherwise I think it's a nice idea to combine to existing legosets and make something new (that's what building with lego is meant to be, isn't it? :-D ) I like the sail made out of flags, and the lantern dangling in the mast adds a classic feeling to this MOC. oDDerFisken Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 What gives you the idea they're going to attack anyone on that raft Mr Bonaparte?Hey come on.. they are pirates aren't they? Then they wanna attack everything and everyone the can get close to :-$ I aggre with simonwillems that the yellow brigs looks strange because they are so high above waterline. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 19, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 19, 2007 I didn't say they are going to attack someone. I just have a feeling they are gonna be attacked. They should cover the Jolly Rogers while they still can. Can't say I didn't warn them... You did write "Who are they going to attack with that raft anyway..." which sounded like there was the prospect of attacking someone. Had written "How are they going to idefend with that raft anyway" t'would have been a different intreptation entirely. I think you made a nice raft, though with some strange features: Nobody here made this raft as far as I'm aware. I found it on Brickshelf ages ago. Quote
Captain Roger Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 1) Yes 2) It may be not original....but the raft is cool anyway 3) I think is already ok. It doesn't need improvement 4) I don't know.... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 20, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 20, 2007 Is this your raft, Mister Phes? No it is not. I should have made this clearer in the first post so I've gone back and put a little message there to make it clear for all to see. Quote
Berry Syedow Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 1) Very much so! 2) More thought would have helped, but I like what I see. 3) Perhaps the tubing could be removed, because as it is I can't see why they should be there. Plus I'm reminded of space when I see them sticking up. I don't understand the purpose of that vegetation either, unless they mean to use it as shade. 4) Pretty much everything else... The slant of the makeshift sail adds a uniqeness to this MOC. Quote
ghoulrealm Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I, like Berry Syedow, am not sure what the tubing represents? (perhaps just some tree limbs made into railings?) and yes too many jolly roger patterned flags. perhaps if they were different color flags as if they used cloths to create sails. though, I would stick to all white if I had enough of em. Everything else seems ok to me even the plant decor\shade X-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 20, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 20, 2007 I always thought the tubing was suppose to represent wood, except back in 1992 when Renegade's raft was released there were no brown 1 x 1 cylinders so yellow was used as a substitute. Quote

I don't think you are refering to the same thing as we are. :S we were talking about the flexable hose pieces on top of the front and sides of the deck. But I always thought the yellow cylindrical pieces represented dried bamboo ;-) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 20, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 20, 2007 Ahhhhh... Now I get ya... I've seen those things in Town and Space sets before but they have been used in ships like Black Seas Barracuda and the Imperial Flagship... Observe the monkey hanging from one... Quote
Tully Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Just as I feared. A red striped pirate forced to row the raft. (They're my favorite). NOBODY APPREATS THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:-( >:-( Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 29, 2007 Author Governor Posted March 29, 2007 I was gonna write "There isn't a red striped Pirate amongst them' but it appears Mr Imperial Scouts has bet me to it. Maybe Mr Tully is colour blind. So that means no crows nest for him! Quote
Tully Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Uhm....He's blue striped...not red :-P . I was talking about the raft :-P , and once I tried doing a review on the BSB, But the pirate ranking system was off so people who were at that rank before got to make a review. And, Mr. Phes, I have great eye corrdination. Crow's nest for me! and look at that pic. He's walking the plank!! Saaaad. (p.s. If you try to get a smily from show all, like *pirate*, you get *pirate* .) Quote
Scouty Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Not neccesarily. There are two blue striped pirates that are also rowing the raft. And a third one with an inside shirt that is red striped, and a blue overcoat. So, technically, we're all right X-D . And yes, I bet Mr. Phes to it. Quote

Scouty Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 What question? There is no "?" in your post and elsewise, if there was a question, it was unclear. Quote
