I will definitely be grabbing one of these. Im not a harry-Potter fan (In fact I have never read any of the books/seen the movies)

However, I need more books in my lego library, and the basic parts are usable. Thanks for the pictures.

Great review! :sweet: Lately Harry Potter has been catching on to me since I saw the sets, and started rereading the books. I think this set is great with all it's pieces, and that dobby minifig looks so much better than the old one. I'll be sure to pick up a few of these when they come out in stores! :classic: I'm just wondering, on quality of the plastic, is it good, like the old Harry Potter sets, or kind of bad, like the new Kingdom's battle packs?

Excellent review Jammiedodger714. Great photo's too - although the one of Dobby's head still in it's plastic bag was kind of disturbing! I voted only average for the set though.

The minifigs are great, but to me it lacks the charm of the previous set.

Glad to see the sock is a printed piece (I thought for sure it would be a sticker!).

Once again thanks for the review

Thanks for the review JD. Speaking as a non-HP fan, this relatively small set is a great way to get a good selection of HP figs, most especially Harry, which I currently don't have, so picking this one up might be a good deal since I've missed all past HP sets.

Dobby comes in flesh intead of tan, with head printing this time!

Since this one comes in a separate plastic bag, does this mean it's "China-made"? Like the Buzz Lightyear and some specialized TS figs.

I would assume so, although some parts come from China which aren't bagged, like the PoP Dagger of Time and the PoP pointy helmets (if you look at the underside of the headpieces you can tell which is a Chinese part as they have a full thick circle where the stud fits, whereas minifig headgear made elsewhere has a thinner rim which is broken up along the perimeter at two points. It's easy to tell the difference if you compare an Agent Trace hair from an Agents set to the Cheerleader or Lifeguard ponytail.)

Yeah, well, my powers aren't fully developed yet, so it takes some time for them to take effect.

Loving the new avatar by the way.

Wow. It seems Tesco really ships out those stuff and I wonder what other neat stuff did you order in there? :sweet:

Thanks for doing up this early review. It's great to see these outstanding minifigures. I really love them a lot. Somehow, I felt that Dobby eyes appears to be realistic looking and it can be quite creepy if you stare at it for too long. I am also surprised of the minifigures (double facial expression) and it's definitely a neat touch. However, I was disappointed that Harry Potter didn't wear a cap at the back unlike the earlier HP sets.

Seriously, getting this set is only for the minifigures and by comparing in terms of rarity of parts in the first version, is totally on a different platform. I prefer the old set in terms of its building appeal unlike this one.

For sure, I am still getting it and loving it. There is no way I could give up on these superb HP sets after missing all of the earlier releases.

But maybe Harry made some embroidery on his spare time

Haaaahahaha! I bet he did!

Great to see the first HP Review out, I am eagerly awaiting a closer look at some of the bigger sets. :sweet:

Thanks for the Great Review Jammie!

The set isn't bad, but those figs are so lovely!

I think I'll pick this set up if I can, its quite cheap and got a decent amount of parts.

Thanks again for the review! Can't wait for more!

A nice review Jammie!

Great to see that the HP sets is starting to show up now. Will be really great to see some of them close-up

in some good EB reviews soon.

Oh no Dobbys made in China :hmpf_bad: This looks to be a great set I was out yesterday looking for it in Tesco but they had already taken it off the shelf there was a big gap

Great review Jammiedodger714 makes me want the set even more.

Hmm, I didn't know the head was double-sided. Interesting.

I wished the second face on Lucius was a bit larger (i.e. covering the whole part of the face, instead of a mask-like size). I also think the hair sits a bit high, too. That's just my opinion, anyway.

Thanks for the review!

I share the opinion of many othes here: I too prefer the old 2002 set's corner building...

Maybe TLC will start to see a pattern here ;)

Anyway, the new minigures look better this time 'round. Can't win 'em all, I guess... ;)

Thanks again for the review! Keep 'em comin'!

Great review!

One question though: how's the quality of dobby's head?

I have the set as well, so I can answer that one! It's really good quality, it feels the same as the older Dobby's head, but a little bit stronger.
