Now I wrote this short movie for school (It hasn't been produced yet) Of course it is based on my adventures...I wrote it on my spare time...(Actually no I did it cause I had too) Please remember to tell me what you think of it, ohh and the character names are actually the names of the actors who will play them.

Enjoy!

Treachery at sea

The deck

Will: Men get on deck! We must make it to port. (Giving Orders)

Evan: Yes sir!

Will: Julien get off that ash and get to work. (Commanding voice, Julien is sitting in ash)

Julien: Aye! A large Spanish galleon is on its way from the north Captain. What are your orders Captain? (Nervous)

Will: Ohh would you stop saying Captain you idiot

Well dear Willy I've just got home from the weekend and I was rather frazzled from the previous night's activities so I wasn't really in a state to read it. Now I've got get some stuff ready for graphic design class tomorrow because I don't plan on coming home till Wednesday probably, for Tuesday is ANZAC Day (look it up on Wikipedia if you don't know what that is). My friend who is in the navy wants me to be there at the dawn service to watch him march as it would really mean something to him. Then we're going to spend the rest of the day drinking cheap (or hopefully free) grog all day and night.

However, I may be able to give you a decent response tomorrow as the class involves using computers so I can take a 5 minute break here and there to respond to threads.

First of all Willy you must remember this is a LEGO disccussion board not a screenwriting discussion board so you can't expect a huge volume of resposnses to something that could be considered off topic.

The first observation I make is the script format is very unconventoinal and I'm wondering for what purpose you've written it? When you say "it hasn't been produced yet" does that mean you're going to actually film actors or you going to create an animation or something else?

The dialogue carries the narrator very well but there is little direction in the way of actions. Will there be action associated with this dialogue or is the story going to be mostly vocal?

Why is there a refererence to "Pirates of the Caribbean" though? Is it the recent movie, the Disney attraction or a generealisation, although it seemed like a specific reference to me? What year is this story set? If its set in the 17th century then such reference seems illogical because 20th and 21st century phenomena is not going to be in the mindset of the characters.

Ok... There's a start...

This is for school. So yes it will be filmed, and no its not based in the 1600's. It COULD be made to fit that, and be a real pirate movie, but the humor would have to be tailored slightly to fit the setting. Yes it will be filmed (Otherwise I shall be getting poor marks in L.A class) So yes that is a reference to the Disney movie.

The dialogue carries the narrator very well but there is little direction in the way of actions.

Now this im not sure what you mean. Narrator? Explain please.

Yes there will be action, but it will be mostley decided during filming. I know basically what is going on in my head. But this is just like Shakespear where you dont really get specific directions.

Hope that answers all you questions...And yes im not awaiting tons of responce for you are right about the fact this is no screenwrite forum.

Thanks

Willy

Yes, but of course it wont be anything spectacular, for I happen not to live in a 17th century port. And so props will be rather...Bad? This is for school though. Make the images in your head :D

Evil Willy, I know what you mean about not making anything spectacular because I'm in a similiar situation myself. But if you're really hard up for props, locations, costumes, etc. what you can do is carry the story through the dialogue. However it helps if you have really good actors which is another defficiency young filmmakers face - where to get actors that know their stuff.

As a size thought you could always animate Pirate LEGO like in that other thread that's floating about, but obviously that's very time consuming and perhaps not feasible. Although it would make this project completely Pirate LEGO related which would be great!

Yeah, I realise you must complete it for school, but by "delivering the goods" I mean you better show us... Now that you've got us all excited about it!

I small sony handheld, and the other one I dont remember exactley(Its at home, im at school) but we should be using two cammera's like mentioned, one of which has a fisheye :D Now I would like to inquire Mr. Phes...What did you think of the script itself? Anything to be changed. Did you actually read it all?

I already gave comments on the script itselfs, do you mean on the actual story contained within the script? I haven't really commented on that yet and after reading it again I'm wondering if this is suppose to be a comedy.

Giving someone "the finger" whilst dying doesn't seem to be a very gentlemanly thing to do!

Yes it is suposed to be funny. Thats the whole point of a lot of stupid things that happen within the script. Our teacher said it had to be funny... Otherwise classmates would get bored.

So your teacher isn't concerned about exploring other aspects of the medium which challenges the viewers mind and swaying the piece from juvenilality?
