starstreak Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) This review will be on the 8214 Lamborghini Polizia They always think they can outrun the Polizia. Not even close. This authentic model is packed with all the details of the original, from the replica wheels rims to the chrome exhaust pipes. Open the front to reveal the on-board medical equipment and fire extinguisher. Look inside to see all the police equipment or open the engine cover to check out the highly-detailed V10 engine. 1:17 scale model includes police decals Front and back doors and hood really open Incredible interior details including radio, speed camera and stop stick Fold seats forward to reveal defibrillator, glass hammer and other essential equipment Check under the hood to see the fire extinguisher and organ transplant cool box Measures 11" (27cm) long and over 4" (10cm) wide Set Name: 8214 Lamborghini Polizia Theme: Racers Released: 2010 Pieces: 801 Price: $59.99/$51.16 EUR/45.96 GBP Here are some quicklinks Lego.com, Brickset, Bricklink Wanna see some pictures? Let's start with the normal box arts and manuals! Box art front Very nice box art. I love the street they put the car on. Very authentic. I could imagine how rough it would be to drive a car like that on a road like this. Yes, it's a real car. Look on the passenger door. You can even see the the police warning stick. Box art rear Again, Lego went to great lengths to keep the photos looking good. Even while showing the interior, they had it shot with a nice bacground. Manual cover Parts bags Parts lists Sticker sheet Random photos Oh yes. This product was given the "ok" by Lamborghini. I LOVE that little hologram sticker. I wish I could have one to stick somewhere besides on the box. Extra pieces The long blue piece is NOT extra. It's the rear spoiler that I lost and then found. And when I found it, I had it mixed with the extra parts photo. Build Process- Now I suppose you want to see how this beauty of a car gets put together? You're wish is my headache. To save space, I grouped it in 4s. Follow it by going left to right on each line. In the bottom right photo you can see the interior taking shape. Including the bottom of the seats and the emergency brake handle. Now you see the rear diffuser. I kind of like it where the rear center brake light is. Yup. Those grey studs are gonna hold the rear bumper. Another good use of snot. This is actually different than the engine found in the #8169 Yellow Lamborghini. While this car looks VERY close to that other Lambo, Lego did good in making things different enough to keep people from thinking they just bought the same car in a different color. I'm not sure what the orange cone is for. But you can see a emergency kit and another box for something. Both of which are totally hidden once you build the car unless you move the seatback forward. Good detail there. Bottom left panel you can see the hidden blue lights on the inside of the car. While many hate stickers, I think the sticker used for the rear of the car is done well. Unlike the Yellow Lambo where they used stickers for the front lights. Good view of the inside of the car. Notice you can't see the hidden gear behind the seats, although you can now see the emergency hand wand on the passenger door. Yes, that is a very red bull horn in the front boot. Bottom right panel shows how the roof lights are oriented. Top right panel shows there is a CAMERA to catch what the Polizia is chasing down. Yes, this is a organ box. Hmm.. What organs would be a red and white studs in a minifig? :) Finished photos Top view. Very nice lines. I still don't like how much the rims make the wheels stick out of the car. Front angle. Front view. The front spoiler is different than that on the yellow Lamborghini. I love the lights. They finally figured a way to make them without using stickers. Side view. Yes, I'm SORRY. I don't have the POLIZIA stickers on the side of the car. It's too ugly. I know it's on the real car, but I just couldn't do it. Rear quarter view. Yes. I know the rear spoiler is missing. It was lost when I took the shot. Rear view. Sweet. I wouldn't mind driving behind this all day. Inside view. You can see a closer view of that emergency hand wand. And yes, don't think too hard that there is no "dash". Lego could've given stickers for the dash. I wish they did. Hood open. Now you know where they stick the organ donor box. Everything open. Bonus photos. Group shots of the 8214 and 8169 Lamborghini cars. You can see how the front spoiler are different from each other. The stickers used for the headlights are nice, but its wrong! They should've spent a little more time and made them out of Lego. Ok. I guess you can't see how the engines are different. But besides the engine block, they are put together differently. Honest. Final rear shot. Same but different. Lego had enough time to iron out the little things on the car design to make it more polished on the Polizia car. Comments: I love replicas. And I like it when Lego makes them without getting too technic-y. Like those of the Ferrari cars. But they are nice in their own right. No working steering. Not suspension. But I would rather have the "photo" look than the technic look they would have had to do to make those options. I hate that Polizia sticker on the side. But I know it belongs. It's MY car so there. I hope you still like the review. My rating Playability: 4/5 This is playable. It's more of a static model, but everything that opens, does. Design: 4/5 Much better than the yellow Lamborghini. But still they used stickers for the rear lights. Although nowhere near as tacky as stickers for the front lights, some purest would say Lego should've made the rear lights out of lego. Build experience: 3/5 It says it's for ages 9+. I think it could be built by younger kids. But I think it was made for older people. Example: My son of 8 years of age, likes the car. But only because it's a car. Not because of how detailed it is or that it's a Lamborghini. Overall: 5/5 If you love cars, this is a must have. I wouldn't pay $80 for it as some stores are charging, but it's worth the MSRP. Car talk for Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! prateek Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Very nice! I love this set, but I'd rather have the yellow one, mostly because it is a civilian car and this isn't. I really wish they fixed the tiny errors in the first one, because this one looks so detailed! BTW, where did you read that this was $39.99? Quote
Captain Becker Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Great rewier, but you forgot only one thing. What about the figs? Traffic cop and the other driver? Anyway, i feel now at i have to get thi. Thanks for the rewier Startstreak Captain Becker Quote

lightningtiger Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Thanks for the review 'starstreak' - the police car is far better than the yellow one from last year......dude, such detail is AWESOME ! Looks like a solid build, but that DSS - so many stickers, but I guess it's one of the things that give it bling ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
dr_spock Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Thanks for the review. It would be nice if it was only $40. Gonna wait for a sale. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Fantastic review starstreak! As alwayss, very detailed and comprehensive (almost step-by-step building process), and crisp-clear photos are brilliant. I like the comparison photos with the yellow Lamborghini, and based on the reference pic of the real vehicle the model looks really very accurate. Now how I wish I didn't read this review, makes me wanna go and buy this one right now. Quote
starstreak Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 Thanks. Glad you liked the review. The group shot came out better than I thought. Fantastic review starstreak! Dunjohn Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Thanks for the very informative review! Unfortunately, I'm not a huge fan of the set, I don't like the front of the car. It loses a lot of the sleek beauty of the real thing. They do a decent job of capturing the lines elsewhere but the jaggy front end just hurts it for me. Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Very nice detailed review as usual especially having to see both vehicles comparing side by side. It's definitely a nice looking display especially for one who is in love with sports cars. I will index this review at the Other Themes Reviews index. Quote
The Cobra Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I really like this car, both the real world vertsion and the Lego one. As for the box art, I'm thinking they made an odd artwork. That big thing on the background looks a lot like the Fountain of Trevi. Quote
sok117 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I may just have to get this, the blue and white make this car look really sexy. This is a very cool creation and I'm glad I got to see your review. Quote
