GRogall Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 Hmm I have seen this on a sight a couple or so months ago wonder what the price will be The Price is going to be €4.99 Apparently it's already available! Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 The Price is going to be €4.99 Apparently it's already available! I don't think I'll get it I have two reasons. 1 the price 2 I can't read french Quote
RileyC Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Thats pretty cool. I wonder if the magazine will catch on at all. I hope so cause it looks interesting. I get why they included a minifig, but why a 2x8 brick? Quote

Aanchir Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Here it is in Polish. It's similar to this book. If anyone's wondering, I regularly check www.ameet.pl for new books. While I don't live in Poland or read Polish, books published by AMEET usually appear in other European countries under other publishing companies. Granted, I'll probably never get any of those books out of lack of interest and living in the United States, but it's still nice to see what kind of books LEGO is investing in. Quote

I get why they included a minifig, but why a 2x8 brick? Hi, I actually have this magazine, and it is a 2x8 plate but I don't see the point of putting it with the fireman minifig, maybe it's intended to be a sort of stand like in the minifigures series 1 and 2 . If anyone want pics, I can scan some pages! Of course, you'll have to understand French. It is made of some stories written like a fireman diary and some games. It really is a product made for the kids (yeah I know Lego in general is made for kids), but my girlfriend gave it to me as a gift so it's just fun and a nice object to collect Quote
Plastic Nurak Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 The Price is going to be €4.99 Apparently it's already available! Not apparently. I've seen it when I was in France last July. I understand French, but I didn't buy it. Quote
Ogre Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) Not apparently. I've seen it when I was in France last July. I understand French, but I didn't buy it. Both of those books are available in North America on Amazon.com/Amazon.ca. "Fire Rescue Activity Book" and "Let's Build Activity Book", IIRC. Edited October 28, 2010 by Ogre Quote

Big Cam Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Think of the brick as a metaphor for a giant wall of fire. I was also curious about the random brick included, maybe it's a crappy ladder. Quote
Ogre Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) I was also curious about the random brick included, maybe it's a crappy ladder. Included with Fire Rescue book: Firefighter legs + torso + head, white helmet, visor, silver firefighter's helmet, black hatchet, black walkie-talkie, yellow 2x8 plate. Included with Let's Build book: Construction worker legs + torso + head, red construction helmet, black shovel, white small nose cone 1x1, black parabola (diameter 16mm), trans-orange globe W. 3.2 stick, 2x8 green plate. Bren Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 They are also available in the UK (WH Smiths) and are published by Ladybird books. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 That's...interesting. Not going to get it. This better not be the Brickmaster replacement. Quote
Aanchir Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 That's...interesting. Not going to get it. This better not be the Brickmaster replacement. Trust me, it's not. This was out in some countries before the decision to end Brickmaster was even publicized. And it had numerous forerunners (although not all of them included actual minifigures). The topic title calls this a magazine, which I think sounds a bit misleading. In the US we would call this an activity book. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) As a Pole and owner of 3 of this books I can say It's just an activity book with 1 normal quality minifig guys Previously we had just the Atlantis one (1 and 2) And now this. I wonder if new themes like NinjagGo or Paraoh Quest will get them too! Edited November 1, 2010 by Lordofdragonss Quote

I wonder if new themes like NinjagGo or Paraoh Quest will get them too! What are the pages like? Are they glossy, colored pages, or thin, black-and-white coloring-book-style pages? Just curious if AFOLs could stand to gain anything from the book itself besides just the minifigure. Even if the activities feel childish, good-quality pages with full-color images could easily be cut out and used to decorate a workspace. Not so much with coloring-book-style pages (although those AFOLs who actually have kids of their own could surely put them to good use). Quote

There's a central poster that looks cool yet a bit childish Edited November 1, 2010 by Decale Quote

Pages are just like the 'Atlantis' activity book pages...full colour, non-glossy finish...pictures are drawn, not photographs of LEGO, though they represent LEGO sets, minifigures and scenes. Quote

Hey, drawn is even better. You can get photographs anywhere. Any indication who the artist is? I'm familiar with a number of LEGO's artists from BIONICLE promo material, and always love to see a familiar name. Quote
escortmad79 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 John Lewis in the UK sell the books. The Fire Rescue & Let's build ones are £3.49 each & the Atlantis ones (The quest for the lost city & The menace from the deep) are £4.99 each. Seems a little excessive, pricewise for a comic with a minifig & one plate considering you can buy Small car for £3.49/£3.99 Quote

Thego Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) The topic title calls this a magazine, which I think sounds a bit misleading. In the US we would call this an activity book. We would say that is an activity book in the UK as well. I'd love to see a regular LEGO magazine for kids though, with little freebies like minifigs. I don't mind the same price point as the books, but could have features and comics from different themes. I was in WHSmith in the UK today and looking at the children's magazines, I saw this Playmobil mag with a free figure. Something like this for LEGO would be amazing.
