sok117 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 How about a Spy mafia? Where good spys would have to weed out the bad spys spying on them , could be another chance for a lot of night actions. And each day could be a james bond movie!
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I would like to see a Japan mafia where the townies are samurai and citizens and they have to get rid of ninjas and assassins.
Peanuts Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I would like to see a Japan mafia where the townies are samurai and citizens and they have to get rid of ninjas and assassins. There once was a game in the future games list titled "Ninja vs. Samurai". I don´t remember who wanted to host it or what has happened to this, but the idea isn´t completely new.

Don't know if he's abandoned the theme or if his planned game will still have ninjas going up against samurais.

I thought WhiteFang was about to host the Soviet vs. USA game? Or did he change his topic from ninjas to communists?
JimBee Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 It's still there... WhiteFang - Scarlet Unification Mafia
RoryoCox Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 This thread really took off. I want to thank everybody for the great feedback and I am sure it will help me and others in the future. The ideas for the actually Mafia games are surprising as I would never have thought about doing those types of games. The night actions is obviously a big one and I know that it really increases the fun one gets from playing a mafia game. Trying to figure out who to use it on, on your own is a tricky business and make it more exciting. Again, Thanks to everybody and I am sure it will continue to grow and help everybody here in the WMG forum. Burman
WhiteFang Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 That was WhiteFang's game. Don't know if he's abandoned the theme or if his planned game will still have ninjas going up against samurais. I am still working on it but there is a possibility that I might not use the original settings due to some issues. Nevertheless, the game will definitely be in the medieval era. I thought WhiteFang was about to host the Soviet vs. USA game? Or did he change his topic from ninjas to communists? Huh??? All this while, I wanting to host a mafia game between Ninja and Samurai. I am very certain that was not my game plan. WhiteFang - Scarlet Unification Mafia Thank you Jimbee.
def Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Huh??? All this while, I wanting to host a mafia game between Ninja and Samurai. I am very certain that was not my game plan. That Soviets game was Bob The Construction Man's, which is still happening in the future, I think.
Professor Flitwick Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 That Soviets game was Bob The Construction Man's, which is still happening in the future, I think. Didn't he swap it out for Cruise Mystery though? Whoops, your right, here it is!
Peanuts Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Huh??? All this while, I wanting to host a mafia game between Ninja and Samurai. I am very certain that was not my game plan. Sorry, my mistake.
Bob Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I thought WhiteFang was about to host the Soviet vs. USA game? Or did he change his topic from ninjas to communists? That'll be my game, sign ups should be tomorrow, unless something comes up.

RileyC Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Wow that seems really early Bob! Its sounds like it should be really interesting!
Shadows Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 That'll be my game, sign ups should be tomorrow, unless something comes up. What a coincidence, I've suddenly got more time to play...
Peanuts Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) That'll be my game, sign ups should be tomorrow, unless something comes up. I thought, there were no two games at the same time? Am I allowed to join or would this be considered metagaming? Sorry, I just saw it was a mystery game. I was mistaking it for a mafia game. Edited November 12, 2010 by Peanuts
Stash2Sixx Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I know only one person who could pull that off... Rick is awesome! True, I am currently working on a mafia game, but I want to do it right. So, it will be a long ways down the road. No, it is not a SigFig game. I like the fact that sig figs can sneak in and make cameos... Most of the characters are made and bios are almost created. Scenes are the next thing, but I can't start that until after Brickworld 2011 in June. As of right now, I will not say what it is exactly. Let's wait a while and make sure I don't change my mind too much. Sok117, I think a Clone Wars Mafia sounds great! Either with characters you create, actual characters from the SW Universe, Clones, or a mixture. As for everyone having a night action, that's tough. I used to agree with the thought that everyone should have a night action, but then I realized that actually trying to win with no special abilities is really a skill. Take a look at what I did in Eurodina and you'll see what I mean. Of course that doesn't mean that everyone can't have an action... I think the number of players should be capped at around 30 or so. Eurodina took quite a while to finish! Not trying to piss anyone off but that game just kept going. If we have games with high player counts, there needs to be a lot of eliminating nightly/daily to keep things moving.

It was a fun game, but yeah it did take awhile, and you dont even know, I was there til the last painful day.
CMP Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I'm just tossing around ideas in my head. I've recently been inspired by the Fallout series. Yea, a bit strange, but it's addicting. It got me thinking. The more recent of the series has many, many multiple endings, with over 5 different factions to side with. And now I can't get it out of my head about a mafia game with no townies, instead, multiple factions with 3 or 4 people in each. Each is like a mini-mafia, not really evil, but then a real mafia is spread across them all. It's complicated, so I'm still trying to work it out, and it's not really a concrete idea right now, so it's all brainstorming.

Not the mafia spread across them all, but having different factions face off rather than town vs. mafia. Sounds interesting, I think you should go for it.
Admiral Ron Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Sounds interesting, I think you should go for it. I agree, that would bring a lot of different strategies to the game. I was thinking of ideas for mafia games, and I was thinking perhaps a new castle mafia. Perhaps one set during the crusades? And if that one wouldnt work, I was thinking a newer Wild West mafia.
pompommini Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 There should be a Alien Conquest mafia game for when the sets come out. The aliens could be disgused as humans.

And the use of night actions might be much more randomized, as the need of precision is much smaller. Yet an interesting idea. I've thought lately about an idea I had, about a mafia game like that: There are 5 sides, 4 of them town, one of them scum. The scum knows all the other scums, as usual, but the four towns have all no clue on the sides of the other townies. All townsides have to work together to get rid of the scum, but each single one has both a small special bonus (like taking one more vote e.g. to convict them)and a further winning condition (like killing someone or keeping someone alive or preventing or doing something), which they have to do. The single sides are more likely to win if they find each other, but overall they have to kill the scum. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? I'm yet thinking of it, and I have some ideas. I also have some ideas on further mafia games. I'll sure try to host one sometime.

I've got about 20, but a few of them suck and need editing. Edited January 27, 2011 by CallMePie

If you discover one scum, you will still have to find the others, or you won't win. And if the scum outnumbers the total of the 4 towns, they will win, so you have to make sure you vote for the right persons. But please clarify, as I don't understand Maybe you misunderstood my idea, I'm not sure I expressed myself clearly.
