September 24, 201014 yr I urge to write Lego The letter concerning color of the car Orange, dark blue or even a lime It is sadly far too late for them to change the color. With the dealer catalogs already out, I'm sure the packaging, instructions, and much of the part bag packing is already in work or done. It would be a major expense and delay to change color. I am also guessing that the reason they chose red is that they already have plenty of red parts in production and not adding new colors makes it cheaper to produce. Personally, I would pay good money for a "color pack" if they offered a supplemental pack with different colored body panels. I would vote for blue for that Viper GTS-R look. A few black parts which already exist could easily make it look like a Viper ACR.

They have made a color change late in development at least once before. 8454 was originally green in the pre-release pictures, while the final version of the set was red. Many people who saw that actually think that the green one looked better. But you're right, they probably chose red to minimize the costs, and they wouldn't change it in that case.
September 24, 201014 yr Author A color-pack would be nice! I tried to get an example in different set-coloring with the conceptcar by Nathanael Kuipers. If TLC would introduce add-on set like this a lot of people would be so happy. Edited September 24, 201014 yr by JunkstyleGio

Many people who saw that actually think that the green one looked better. I did not know that. Every version of these airport fire trucks I've seen in real life has been lime green, although a Google image search shows red versions as well. A color-pack would be nice! Some kinds of cars just should not be red. I like blue though. Gold and pink are right out.
September 24, 201014 yr This car looks great, I see there influence of modern muscle cars. But mostly I see dodge cars, overall body is like Viper but if I see grille my imagine say this looks like Dodge Charger srt8. This crossed design make supercar 8070 very unusual and incredible beauty. No doubt, this car will be succes mostly by his design . Any my observation...Gear unit is missing for me!But I think that designer decided to not put it in because new supercars has automatic gearbox or paddle under the steering wheel. Also nowadays children can decided manual transmission little disappointing as function ... And what about Power functions?Better not say at this moment.Looks like this car has very fresh functions(Open doors, open hood, spoiler) but everything has same scheme "open, close, open, close" And this car looks easy to transform into radio controlled car because in main model is place to put battery box and m motor.Xl can be placed instead fake engine.Ir receiver can be put everywhere. Thats is all at this moment! Edited September 24, 201014 yr by Ondra
September 24, 201014 yr I vote for dark blue. I really second that! My son played with the F1 cars today and thinking over I would like to build a Red Bull Formula 1 car... but...no dark blue Technic parts no car.
September 25, 201014 yr Gold and pink are right out. Oh God no, 8880 in PINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT HAS STAINED MY EYEBALLS! I always thought 8880 would look good white with a black stripe, the original black with yellow stripe is still awesome. There were a number of sets with that same colour shceme. I like the blue one too.

Wao, it's very awful and disapponting (this time yes ) to repeat the same thing ad libitum: gearshift between seats serves to transmission, NOT TO FUNCTIONS!!! A typographic (a little misunderstanding) choice deoesn't mean two separate informations are related. Opinions aren't facts. NOW, I give you FACTS: Traduction: "Thanks to PF motorization system, it's possible to move the rear flap, to open and close both doors and the hood and to make use of the 4 speed gearshift* between the seats. " * or better, gearbox Now, what do you say ? Edited September 25, 201014 yr by Plastic Nurak
September 25, 201014 yr I think the gearshift is used for the functions only. Now, what do you say ? So I say you are wrong. Edited September 25, 201014 yr by Anio
September 25, 201014 yr Do you accept any bet ? Traduction: "Thanks to PF motorization system, it's possible to move the rear flap, to open and close both doors and the hood and to make use of the 4 speed gearshift* between the seats. " * or better, gearbox Now, what do you say ? There is NO drivetrain transmission on this model. Why do they show the 4 speed transmission(Control box) with numbers in the same orange column with the 4 functions with the same numbers in the same font? And besides, if there was a 4 speed transmission between the seats, then where is the control box for the functions? There is obviously no room anywhere else as this battery box will take up most of the space in the rear end of the car. It is making use of the "4 speed gearbox" between the seats by operating the functions. That single motor isn't going to open/close everything and drive the car. September 25, 201014 yr In that case it's a misleading information . It's easy, reading these lines, to understand there's a gearbox . #8070 could prove as 2011 epic failure . I hope you're wrong... but now I'm not so as sure as I was formerly.

I'm new to this topic, so I don't read all comments but I think that the numbers (at the left picture of a sort of gearbox) are the numbers of the functions that are shown. And that it looks like a gearbox between the seats, is just for show.

September 25, 201014 yr That gearbox is a gear-box, but it doesnt change engine gears, but switches functions from PF M motor. Exactly just because something says that it is a gearbox doesn't mean that has to shift gears that drive a car. The 8043 set had a gearbox as well.
September 25, 201014 yr I have very important question! How we can open the door, if the door will be closed and power function gearbox cannot be accessible . People be clever! There is only one gearbox, because of complexity of two separate gearbox in one average dimension lego car .If there will be two gearbox system. I eat supercar carton box and send formal thanksgiving letter to lego . Edited September 25, 201014 yr by Ondra
September 25, 201014 yr It does actually say 'four speed'. Which means that if there isn't a gearbox for the transmission - then they are lying. Yet, that's what I think they do. Edited September 25, 201014 yr by Pauger
September 25, 201014 yr Ok, guys, does it sound reasonable only to me that the 4-speed gearbox as part of the drive-train is to be used in the B-model? Nice open-close functions for the kids and realistic mechanics for AFOLs as secondary version?
September 25, 201014 yr I 've saw three missing sets for 1H2010. That small container truck is a hook lift truck, and uses this tipper bed (probably in dark bley): http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4080 The hook is raised and lowered by a worm gear, and it's only function of this set. The second model is buggy. With front made with using two small black panels: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=87086 Front and rear axles are suspended, and front wheels are steerable by gear on the back. These tires are used on both axles: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=56891 The last model is small, three axle crane. It has steerable front axle, two stabilizers (one per side)that are mounted between first and second axle. It uses this boom: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=57779 And those tires: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2346 The boom can be raised, extended and rotated. ------- Mini actuators works. There are two universal joints on the back of the 8069, and it seems that they are connected with TWO z12 black double bevel gears on the cabin's roof. Now it's clear how the backhoe will be operated :) Edited September 25, 201014 yr by M_longer

Nice open-close functions for the kids and realistic mechanics for AFOLs as secondary version? This may be very possible. Seriously though even if the A-Model did in fact have a 4 speed, don't you think that is kind of taking a back step to the 8448 or 8466 sets from 10 years ago that had 5 forward gears and a reverse?
