This may be very possible. Seriously though even if the A-Model did in fact have a 4 speed, don't you think that is kind of taking a back step to the 8448 or 8466 sets from 10 years ago that had 5 forward gears and a reverse?

Remember this is only a first half set, although it's price would probably lead others to think otherwise.

They should have just not called it a supercar, because it just isn't a supercar.

I think a proper flagship supercar would, or should raise the bar, just like 8880 raised the bar from 8865. That's what I wanna see from a supercar. A whole new gear box system that can take enought torque to easily drive the car with 5 or 6 gears plus reverse without wasting any power from the motor overcomeing the friction of the gearbox itself and a more realistic gear shift mechanism. you know, real innovative stuff like that which allows us to do things we always wanted to but was ugly or difficult in practice, just like 8880 did. THAT'S A SUPER CAR.

A motor which could drive the car were very boring, IMO.

Translations are sometimes difficult to understand for those who don't speak the original language (and don't know how expressions are used in a particular language). TBs now has a copy of the Dutch retail brochure which reads:

"The gearbox between the chairs and the Power Functions system allow the rear spoiler, hood and doors to be opened and closed" - just in case anybody still doubted there would be a transmission gearbox...

BTW, the secondary model for the backhoe is ... a log loader

Hmm, cant quite decide whether I'm impressed with these models or not. The "supercar" looks quite interesting, otherwise the others give me a "meh" kind of feeling. I guess I'll have to wait and see the final packaging and/or reviews on here before I make up my mind.

I also noticed that the helicopter is using the Ferrari wheel-covers which technicbricks was hinting at a while back, for the rear-propeller.

The miniature crane looks great for its size!

The miniatures are really great! I like them how they look and also it looks promising what kind of functionality is included in the small space.

I'm still not sure about the supercar though. I think a Super-Car out of the box does not need any motorized function. It is about the possibilities inside, drivetrain, Steering, damping and other mechanisms.

That crane looks great just like a smaller 8431 The Jeep looks like it will go very nicely with the 8261 Rally truck and Container truck looks like a fast fun build .

Although I will not buy any of the smaller ones, the Crane looks really cute.

The SUV will probably be a gift from my GF. She likes small Technic sets. I am still not sure aout it. One part of me says YES the other Definitely NOT.

The Container truck is OK except the container. :)

Retracted I guess. Suddenly looks a lot better at that picture :)

Blakbird, I think that it is actually part of the rear end and actually flips upwards. Because in the pic where it is flipped up there doesn't appear to be anything above the battery box.

I would also like to add that the doors are not just scissor doors. They appear to be butterfly/scissor doors.

I think when retracting the rear spoiler moves forward, lifts the rear of the car and then is hidden by it.

I think #8070 will be a very nice set. Although there is no complex drivetrain it will be a pleasure to see how they squeezed 4 motorised functions, suspension and power functions components into this car.

It does look better! But the arrow shows tht the spoiler moves forward (toward the roof) from the deployed position, but I can't see any sign of it in that last picture.

I thought of that too, but the rear bumper is already pretty solid, so I don't think there is anywhere to fold down into.

That would be pretty cool, but it would suggest a much more complicated mechanism than the simple arrow in the picture would indicate.

The simplest solution, of course, is that they simply left it off of that computer render for some reason. I can't see any other images that show what the retracted spoiler looks like.

Edit: I recant. The lower left picture clearly shows a 4 bar linkage supporting the spoiler. If these bars were the same length then the spoiler would stay parallel to the ground which wouldn't make any sense. However different lengths would allow it to rotate down and cover the exposed rear battery box.

Now I wanna understand why in italian catalogue they tell a 4 speed gearbox, while in dutch catalogue (language that I'm enough able to understand if I read slowly) they clearly say the gearbox is useful for motorized functions .

Now, I expect new SC as 2011 epic failure.

I don't really like the way it looks and I know that I will buy it as soon as it comes out. Everyone loves cars and this set will probably be one of, if not the top technic selling set all of next year. And more than likely in a few years from now people will be paying out the rear end to find a new unopened one.

It is a common expression used by teenagers in the USA. I only know because I have a teenage daughter. Like most expressions, it doesn't really mean what the words say, and I'm not sure the kids using it even know what the words mean. I'm not sure where people from other countries pick up the expression except perhaps from chat rooms or message boards. Never take English advice from message boards with teenagers on them! I have never heard an adult (in my country) use this phrase.

For an actual "epic failure", see military battles with massive loss of life. It is not possible, by definition, for anything done by the LEGO Company to be an epic failure.

I'm wondering if they come together, to fit in between the rear 'window'?

the other option, is that they 'slot in' between the gap just above the rear brake lights?

it's going to be nifty to finally see the drivetrain, and all the mechanisms that operate all the features!

I kinda agree with some of the other posts..

regular 4 speed gear boxes are a bit boring. (even to me as an adult!), when the only 'visible' difference you see are pistons moving a bit faster! (and it's mechanically wrong anyway... driving the engine via the wheels!!)

and we've had gearboxes in every other technic super car since the original... so it's good to see something new here

Would be nice if they provided 'alternate' instructions to add in another couple of motors + IR, so we can drive it around AND operate all the functions!

although, I'm sure, within a week of someone getting this set... they'll have modded it, with an 8043 style gearbox! ;)

That phrase came from the PC/console gaming world and is in widespread use over there.

I certainly wouldn't say it applies to this set though. It does have fairly unique features, although the "super car" name is misleading. I probably won't get it myself though. I try to limit my set purchases these days and only buy the sets that I think are truly exceptional, as I have a huge backlog with sets I have bought but not opened.

RE: miniLA?

Has this little bit been spotted here or at TBs yet? If there's any notion still that it's just a friction piston, this confirms otherwise.
