WhiteHexagon Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Hi All, Anyone want to help beta test a LEGO style online game? http://www.whitehexagon.com Thanks Peter Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted May 24, 2006 Author Posted May 24, 2006 Update: The modeller has now been added, not quite as fancy as LDD, but I'm busy busy improving things. I've also just added some forums for some feedback... :) whitehexagon.com PS love the bat theme here :) I hope this stays a bit longer than one month! Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted May 25, 2006 Author Posted May 25, 2006 uh oh, I attracted the attention of root admin ;) about the game: It's early days so far and just a few of us working on it, so progress is a bit slow. Basically we are trying to write a LEGO style online RPG. It's a really big task but we have some great ideas for how to be different from some of the other RPG games out there, such as making the basic game Free! and of course having the entire whitehexagon world built out of small bricks :) Currently there isn't much 'play' involved. We are working on getting the modeller better, adding more bricks, and testing the whole infrastructure and architecture of the game engine. Plus we have the website to maintain, which can also be quite time consuming as I'm sure you know. I guess we should also put a wiki or FAQ somewhere to explain some of this a bit better, it's just tough finding the time to do everything. So we just keeping hacking along, one feature at a time. I hope it's okay to post updates here? I thought people might be interested in such a themed game :) Plus we need some patient testers to help us along... Thanks Peter Quote
Jipay Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Well you can of course post updates in here, no problem. Quote
xenologer Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 So, in this game will you actually be able to 'build' things using bricks, meaning actual stacking bricks to build... whatever design you want? Or is it 'fake' building, like that Lego WorldBuilder game? Ok, game is in progress I guess, what are the final product featues going to be? Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted May 25, 2006 Author Posted May 25, 2006 You can already 'stack' basic bricks, in any design you want! :) The modeling tool is a bit basic at the moment, and we only have a few simple bricks to start with, but you can do quite alot with a few 2x4 bricks :) In future we will of course add more bricks, better UI, customizable avatar (minifig), and later more RPG style features. At the moment I don't want to promise anything, but we have some great ideas to make this into a huge fun game! So sign up and have a look :) Peter Quote
prateek Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 kool i joined but i cant play because i dont have java Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted May 27, 2006 Author Posted May 27, 2006 Hi Prateek, There should be link to download java on our about page, otherwise just go to the Sun site directly: http://www.java.com/en/ Cheers Peter Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted June 10, 2006 Author Posted June 10, 2006 Hi All, Just to let you know we have been fixing some bugs and adding a few new features to WhiteHexagon. We are still looking for beta testers, so please take a look and offer some feedback. whitehexagon.com You need Java installed but thats explained in the ABOUT page. Thanks Peter Quote
prateek Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 I tried and i dont know what to do at all *wacko* Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 Ok, I assume you have Java downloaded and have managed to log in? So there's not much to do at the moment, we are working on new features as quickly as possible. But for now you should be able to move around the 3D world, by clicking on the Map Overview in the top left, and see what others have been doing. Most of the game buttons have tooltips, so if you hover the mouse over them you should get an idea what they do. Click on 'Locate base' to find your personal area. If you then click your home 'base plate', it should show as selected in the small window on the left. Just under there is a button for 'Edit Object' - a popup should appear that allows you to add and remove bricks. Its stack bassed at the moment which means you can only work with the last brick added. There are currently only about a dozen bricks, but that will grow soon. Next we plan to add the ability to pickup and drop bricks with your minifig, and transfer items to other players.. Any problems then just email me :) and don't be afraid to break it, that's what a beta test is :) Have fun! Peter Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 Hi, Thanks to everyone that has joined the Beta Testing. We had 4 players testing online at once last week, and things are looking quite good. However we plan to limit the beta test to 100 people, mainly because that's all our current server can probably handle. So if you haven't joined already, nows a good time :) So here's a list of new features included in this weeks release. * Pressing 'I' for inventory brings up a list of the items your avatar is carrying. * Two extra panels showing the contents of your avatars left and right hands. * Drag and drop of items between inventory and hands. * Buttons for dropping the contents of your hands. * Items can be grouped inside user defined Bags. * Automatic pickup of Items your Avatar can carry. * The Locate Avatar button should now also select your Avatar. * Bug fix for chat messages originating from wrong player. Since we don't currently have any full time developers, we hope you understand that development progress is quite slow. But we have lots of ideas planned for the game and lots of motivation! Here are just a few of the things you can expect to see in the future. Of course your feedback is always welcome and you can do that by email from the main website. * Forums. * Gallery of the best models. * Animated Avatar * Customization of your Avatar, including accessories you might expect for minifigs. * A complete economy based on trading of bricks, blueprints, magical items, accessories and much more. * Quests - special challenge areas with various rewards upon completion. * A complete magic system based on 7 types of magical brick that can be combined anyway you like. * And a host more features that you would expect in an online RPG. Thanks for your attention and we hope to see you online soon! Kind Regards Peter Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 Hi All, Just to let you know that we can't process any more beta testers at the moment. The people that have applied will get some more information soon, and hopefully we can accept some more testers soon. Thanks to everyone for thier support and interest thus far. Seems most of you are finding us via this board, so thanks also for that! The 'Quests' part of the game is going really well, although the quest editor is taking some time. Hopefully we will have some big updates to show in the not too distant future! Cheers Peter Quote
