WesternOutlaw Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I must admit that this isn't exactly what I wanted, but after several attempts to photograph this creation and photo-edit, the result is my latest creation, Roman Commander's Tent. Inspired by Playmobil's Roman set 4273, this little creation gives you an idea of what you can do with a few Spartans from the Series 2 Minifigure collection. Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Very nice I liked that playmobil line off romans wish lego could do the same Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Excellent MOC there 'The Brickster' - I could Lego doing a set like this one day ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 For the benefit of those who's not that familiar with this Playmobil set (like me), here's what it looks like (below). And based on this one, you really did a good job The Brickster! You're just 2 Spartans short. And the post-editing is quite nice. Quote
Fugazi Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Very nice! I always thought ancient Rome (or Greece) would make an awesome theme, and this goes to prove it with a simple build that could well have been a small Lego set. And with next year's Atlantis new moulds you would even be able to replace the photoshopped columns with ribbed Lego ones! Where is Asterix when we need him, there are Romans to be whacked! Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Nice small creation down there. Looks like they are preparing for their advance. I can't wait but to notice the ancient Greek Trident. Now, you are on the start of the Spartan Fever. Quote
jokster Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 cool. I love spartns. did that sound rong? Quote
Athos Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 The tent is a little too cube-y. If you could slope the walls a bit, I think it would improve 100%, if not more. Everything else looks good. For the photo editing, I'd make those columns lego too. Steve Quote
prateek Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Looking at the Playmobil, I'm surprised that Lego hasn't made a Roman theme yet! I;m so frustrated!!! Quote
the teutonic knight Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 This could go better as a Greek commander's tent. The trident seems like a Greek thing, and the soldiers are spartans which are of course Greek. All in all, though, 5/5. Great MOC. Quote
Darth Hawken Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Brilliant Moc, but the tent is blocky you might want to slope the walls a bit but besides that it is excellent. Quote
Ceroknight Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Reminds me about the episode "the pandorica opens" of dr who Its lovely Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 That's a nice Roman MOC, TheBrickster. Please don't be angry with me, but: The idea to put the Playmobil set into bricks was great. And to build a Roman MOC at all was great. I even like that you included everything a Roman commander's tent set needs: tent, horse, table, weaponry, minifigs and accessory! But the outcome could imo be better. The reason for that is not your work - I absolutely have no doubts in that you tried your best - but is simply the absence of the needed bricks you'd need (sloped bricks for the tent, correct scaled trident etc.). Nevertheless it's great to see another Roman MOC! Klaus-Dieter Quote
blueandwhite Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I really like the colour choices you've used here. The lime green and red stripes blend together nicely. I also like the general size and shape of the tent. It may not match the Playmobil original but it works quite well. The only issue I have is with the photoshoped background which looks a bit distracting. I would love to see the MOC with a plain white background instead. Still, it is but a minor quibble. Nice Work. Big Cam Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I'm not 100% on board with the photosjopped backdrop, but I am on board with the LEGO work. It sounds silly, but I had not even thought of using a Spartan without all their gear. Nice work. Quote
Artanis I Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Very nice! I always thought ancient Rome (or Greece) would make an awesome theme, and this goes to prove it with a simple build that could well have been a small Lego set. Here! http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=46870 From the comic series of the same name by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo . Enjoy! Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 A great interpretation of the playmobile set. Quote
Oky Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Nice work. I especially like how you did that SPQR staff. However, I have agree with the other criticisms. The tent really could have been better. At the very least it should have that marquee, and as it has been pointed out, the tent needs to be sloped. But it's a good start. And yes, Hound Knight's Asterix would compliment this MOC perfectly! P_Squared Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Very nice little set-up. makes me want to get my hands on at least one of those figures Quote
