I am a huge fan of both the books and the films. I love the characters, especially Luna and Xenophilius Lovegood. I love the LEGO sets because you can make your favourite scenes from the films/books, and it's great to have all the characters in LEGO form. I also love the sets because of the parts and colours. The only downside to the sets is that they are so expensive! I unfortunately still don't have any of the 2010 sets, but I plan to get them soon. Harry Potter is my favourite LEGO theme.

P.S.- The Deathly Hallows part 1 is amazing!

Expensive?

While the price tag is high, you get a lot of brick for your buck. Excluding the Hogwarts Express, most of these sets have about a 9 or 10 brick per dollar range, plus incredible figures!

For me, it seems to be the entire concept that draws me in. The sets, movies, and books are all impressive!

Thread is slightly old but I'm chime in. I didn't get any of the Harry Potter sets until the most recent ones that came out this year. Currently out of these new sets I have The Burrow, Hagrid's Hut, and the new Hogwarts Express. I also wanna get Diagon Alley when it comes out but will have to save up for it (I think it's like $200 MRSP in Canada when it does come out). Two main reasons for this: the first one being that I simply did not really collect Lego much at all during that time (I was a young tween [12-14 years old] to teenager [the rest of my teenage years until about 17/18); was into Lego as a younger child, didn't really get back into the thick of it until the past year or 2, plus I didn't have money leftover from having summer jobs, etc). My second reason is that the older sets did not appeal to me. From a personal standpoint, City is the theme I love the most and these fantasy items did not really intrigue me. Looking at the Harry Potter sets that they have released in the past, there aren't really any sets that make me think "oh I wish I had bought that years ago" other than a couple, them being: 4756 Shrieking Shack, and 10132 Motorized Hogwarts Express. I also enjoy the books and the movies of this series and I guess the lead up to the most recent one.

I saw that Harry Potter was coming to a close soon so I jumped on to the bandwagon and really like the books and movies. As for prices, well Hagrid's hut is currently (other than Technic) the most bricks in a $40 package With rare-er/ish parts. Need I say more? :cry_happy:

I think I submitted a vote ages ago, whilst scanning the topic. However I now can't remember what I voted for .

I simply loved the books. I had read each book before I saw it's film incarnation so the great films further cemented in my mind that the Harry Potter series were some of my favourite books/movies. I can't say I was that into the 1st wave of HP Lego but picked up a large number of sets in the 2nd wave after it became apparent it was a good line. I remember loving it because of it's wonderful portrayal of the movies: The sets recreated the scenes wonderfully, with quirky little details and wonderful traps and obstacles.

My absolute favourite HP set is still 4729 Dumbledore's Office. I think it epitomised the theme: Fantastic colours and parts, great minifigs and a really intriguing, not-your-usual style building. It had some great sub-models too, like the chair and the key-holder. However, two other sets come close to this one: firstlyy 4758 Hogwart's Express from the Prisoner of Azkaban (great train, cool minifigs) and another, very unlikely set: 4711 Flying Lesson. Flying Lesson boasted very little in parts, but was entirely a goodie. It had two good minifigs, a cool cart with nice parts, and the Remembrall - one of my favourite parts of all time.

So, really, I love everything about the theme. But to pick one, it is probably 'huge fan of books' as that was the whole reason I know Harry and his friends. :classic:
