badboytje88 Posted October 10, 2010 Author Posted October 10, 2010 Thanks for all the compliments guys. It's actually a really hard thing to build. After a building at the house for a few hours I quit, satisfied with the progress. But the next day I'll start doing it over since I end up not being so satisfied as I was the day before. The house half way finished but at the same time no where near finished... Quote
badboytje88 Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Today you won't get an update of the house, but I'll give you an update of the figs. I'm not quite happy about them. Both faces aren't perfect. I can live wit Russels, but Carls face looks to young and too happy. Suggestions are welcome. I'm a purist so decals aren't an option for me. Quote
prateek Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Try this one. It doesn't look too happy, but still old. BTW, I really like Carl. Are you gonna make Dug? Quote
badboytje88 Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 Try this one. It doesn't look too happy, but still old. BTW, I really like Carl. Are you gonna make Dug? Humn I thought about that head, but he doesn't look grumpy enough. I'll give it a try. My sixth WIP shot: I bought a big load of pink bricks at LEGO World. So I was able to build the last few walls. I think I got a bad case of the Big Gray Wall Syndrome in pink... Is that even possible? Reference pic: My link Suggestions and tips are more than welcome. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Keep going it.....this looks AWESOME 'badboytje88' and keep on yes I'll say it again....bricking ! Quote
buddy Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Great WIP, badboytje88! It looks just like the real thing. Well done so far. ~buddy~ Quote
The Soup Nazi Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Hmm.... if you like fleshies, then I have a solution to your faces... Quote

badboytje88 Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 Hmm.... if you like fleshies, then I have a solution to your faces... I will seriously consider these two faces. But I would need to buy a second Dumbledore. I don't want to take the one I got apart. Thanks for the suggestion! Quote
badboytje88 Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 I started on the roof of my Up house, which proves to be very difficult. Quote
prateek Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I like your roof so far. I can't wait to see how it ends up Quote
Gregorovich Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) Looking good, badboytje88! It looks just like it does in the film! I love how colourful it is, and the windows are lovely. For the minifigures, I think you should use the Short Round and flesh Dumbledore heads for the figures, they look the most like them. Also, which set did the grey hair come from? Edited January 21, 2011 by Gregorovich Quote
badboytje88 Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Sorry for the late reply. It's not in any set, it's a non production part. Quote
SuperBagel Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Wow badboytje88! This is looking great. You could break up that pink wall by adding the gutter downspout like in your reference. I'm excited to see this one finished. Quote
badboytje88 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 My Up house still needs a lot of work. I started building the roof. Which turned out to be quite challenging. I'm not entirely happy with how it turned out at this point so it will probably be changed. I still need a massive amount of pieces before I can finish this MOC. I need some grey wedge plates, dark pink, dark blue and orange 1x1 round bricks, I need to add the hose, I need to add the iron rooster on top of the roof... But without further ado I present my latest WIP shot: Comments and Critics are welcome Quote
Juppy Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Nice work! the roof looks much better now! Quote
Solitary Dark Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 It looks fantastic - How well does it hold together? Quote
badboytje88 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 It looks fantastic - How well does it hold together? The house itself is quite sturdy. The roof is attached with just a few hinge bricks, or some parts of it aren't attached at all, so the roof is very flimsy... Thank God for gravity Quote
prateek Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) Excellent! Compared to this pic, it looks really good. You might want to add a small roof section over the window over the door. Edited February 27, 2011 by prateek Quote

I know, I still need to do that, but I don't have the right wedge plates in dark blueish grey... I need to place a few BL orders. Quote
Tom Bricks Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 looks great but I have one suggestion, I think the angle of the roof above the yellow section should be at a steeper angle. I think thats the only thing keeping this from looking perfect Quote
badboytje88 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 I know the angle needs to be steeper, but it's not possible to make it steeper with LEGO bricks. The yellow part of the house at the front isn't as broad as the pink wall directly facing the yellow wall. The roof goes from the pink to the yellow wall. A birds view shot of the roof of this house would look like this: \ / The roof gets less wide towards the yellow wall. This effect is impossible with LEGO, I have to build the roof like this: I I (if you get what I mean). And thus the angle of the roof is determined by the widest wall, the pink one in the back. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Looks great! The colors are pretty spot on as is the majority of the build. Will you include the balloons after? Quote
AussieJimbo Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Nice progress, mate. Can't wait to see the finished article. :classic: Quote

If all goes well, this will be put on display during the next LEGO World in autumn. I will buy a few helium balloons and attach them to the house. It probably won't float because it's really heavy, but it'll look cute! Quote
