Great review! I actually like Aragog, surprisingly-- being a magical critter it makes sense for him to have a physique unlike regular spiders. However, your mod of him is equally good.

The hut is only marginally impressive. As you say, the interior is magnificent, but the exterior is lacking. The medium nougat around the doorframe in the front feels out-of-place-- if it were extended down one brick it would feel appropriate for a doorframe, but as it is it just feels like a mishmash of colors. The window side is also sub-par. The blend of colors and textures isn't very attractive at all.

The roof colors are OK in my eyes, but I would have preferred if the light bley were replaced with sand green, if only to keep the roof tiles from matching the walls.

I have a question: could you take pictures of the exterior from the side with the chimney? I'd like to see how that compares with the more boring and mismatched window side.

The set looks good but I wont be getting it.... it looks too much like the Hagrid's Hut from 2004 (which I have). Besides the new Hagrid figure, all the rest of them are pretty bland. It would've been nice if they included Hagrid's dog Fang and Buckbeak the hippogriff.

Thanks for putting that pic up! Looks like his face will be very useful. I also like your mod! It gives the hut a very medieval feel to it.

I really want this set now! But why do you call Hagrid's dragon Whelp? His name is Norbert. :P I named by Bearded Dragon Norbert... hehe

I agree with the roof colour: the sand green would definitively given it a better look. Then again, it would probably still look rather bland I guess. Unfortunately, I don't have the pieces needed to modify it in that way, but I welcome (future) owners of the set to try it.

In any case, here are the pics. I still had my modified version...

...But replaced the modified parts on this side with its original version. This side is not as bad as the side with the window, but it is still a bit too light bley for my taste. It looks like this:

If you remove the light brick, you see the red technic piece, which is used to attach the light brick...

I actually like the chimney. Especially the upper part is nice (four black round bricks with the dark bley piece added on). All in all, this side is a bit better in my opinion, though you should ignore the red piece attached to the light brick.

Wonderful review KristofBD! Many thanks! I really quite like this set, and was tempted to get it, but having a look at the details I'll have to pass and go for the bigger Hogwarts myself. Not to say this isn't something I'd love to have, but budget contraints and all, and the spider thinks it's all that, but it's not.

I jut got done putting this together and Im curious as to why Hagrid has fingers? Like he doesn't get staredat enough anyways...now, he's the only person with actual fingers?!

Yep I found that strange also. Is there any other lego fig that has fingers?
