Starwars4J Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 You should probably make them much bigger. I mean when you're in space...just the vehicles would tend to be bigger. Use bricks to make the actual letters and signs as well. Quote

xenologer Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Think civilian...like small ships, not huge starships. Doesn't matter how big the ships are. the real deal is that Space is Big and open. and you need to see stuff far away (navigation satelite anyone?) Space Signs in Cowboy Bebop were pretty well done I thought, they were much bigger than ships themselves, and were mostly made of bright holograms. Maybe you could do something with transparent bricks? Do you really mean Space Street Signs? They look to me like Cloud City Street Signs. For hovercars. Maybe that's what you mean't, it seems to fit your design better. If you want totally Space Signs, with no atmosphere or hovercar stuff, then I'd probably change them to have the writing visible from both sides, and have different street names pointing in different crazy directions (kinda like a real life street corner sign, except pointing Up, Down, left, right, etc since Space is 3d and you could fly all kinds of different ways) Quote

If it's atmospheric they're fine (but still a bit small), but for space it would need to be pretty large. I like the idea of transparent bricks for holograms! Quote
The Hordesman Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 While I do agree with you Xenologer, I do think these are not meant to be actual space signs, but more of street signs on normal roads in planetary colonies, etc. And for that, I salute you! I really like your complex, heavy looking style of things, the style reminds me of well, above mentioned- Cowboy Bebop. Good work, keep it up! Quote

But its meant for the moonbase. -l2k- Quote
Starwars4J Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Moonbase as in just floating there? I mean most of the moonbases are a series of linked containers...so how would it work? For spaceships flying outside I assume? In that case they definitely need to be larger, and the holographic idea mentioned works nicely. If nothing else, at least add a "light" to it. Quote

A civilian sized craft is about the size, maybe a bit bigger, than an average car. These are not meant to direct huge freighters and such. -l2k- Quote

Like I said, maybe add a light or something to illuminate the "sign"? Quote
Jipay Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I like those, they remind me a lot of starcraft, when you are playing the desert cities missions with your troops. The level of detail is really good, I like them ! PS : I think the size is good, after all the spacecraft are equiped with GPS so they don't need big signs, do they ? :-P Quote
