---Vertea--- Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 thank you for that, Vezon :) It's strange how many people turn out liking Xplode.... I wonder if he really IS that cool. Say, would any other arm types work with him? Quote
duncan bulk Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 My Toysrus has every set except the drop ship and I might go today and since I can upload videos again I will make a review of one of the villians but I might get a metal fusion beyblade there aswell :). Quote
Vezon Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) I built Thunder a little while ago, so I'm ready to share my thoughts: The first thing to note is that the silver on Thunder is a new kind. It's basically a mix between normal silver and gunmetal that looks quite nice. The other big thing to note is that Thunder does not fit in with Bionicle sets at all. While Bionicle sets leaned toward the technological, they still felt a bit organic. Thunder, however, is a full on machine. While the legs are normal, literally everything above the waist screams "I'm a robot!" The helmet is awesome, while the arms are fantastic. They look great, have a very unique build, and (due to the way the lower arms attach to the upper arms) are much more posable than the arms in any Bionicle set. The built in Meteor Blaster helps with the mechanical look, while the claw arm looks cool and mechanical (gear-like details are sculpted into the claw pieces), in addition to being posable. The new piece used for the torso armor and lower arms has great MoCing potential, with two built in plus rods, three plus holes, and and two axle holes. The only cons I can think of for Thunder are the extra ball joint sticking out (nowhere near as bad as the one on Skrall Stars though) and the stickers. Granted, I don't mind the stickers that much since they make the lower arms and torso armor look a lot nicer. Overall, Thunder is my favorite Hero Factory set so far. If you've been looking for a set with a different feel than Bionicle, or if you just like robots, then I highly recommend this guy. Tomorrow I'll be opening up Corroder. Ehlekrebound Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 How are the stickers? Do they come off easily with play? I'm debating whether to put them on or not. Quote
The Crazy One Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 You know I will be doing Meltdown and Rotor but lego is slow to ship things. I could have gotten 1-2 day shipping but it would have cost 21 dollars extra. On the plus side i now have 34 VIP points. Yeah, I think I'll leave the reviews to you. Rotor is very cool though. His mask looks so messed up evil, with that weird grin smile he has. Quote
VBBN Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Yeah, I think I'll leave the reviews to you. Just got confirmation that my products shipped, should be here by tuesday or wednesday at the latest. Rotor is very cool though. His mask looks so messed up evil, with that weird grin smile he has. Thus why I want Vapour as well for the recolor. Quote
Bundalings Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Just ordered Bulk, Furno, Stormer, Stringer (called Jim instead of Jimi on S@H?), Surge, Breez, Rotor and Meltdown from S@H. Also Kaxium, Skopio, Cendox and the Shadow Snapper, but you guys don't care about those. =P So I'll post pics and reviews and stuff when they get here. Now I really only will want Thunder and maybe Explode... Furno Bike and Drop Ship would be nice too of course, but eh. I'm spending a lot on Lego right now. XP Quote
Aethersprite Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Damn all you guys, I'll only be able to get my grubby fingers on HF sets in August. Seeing all your opinions, I guess I'll be spending more on Lego this time around... Quote
Zip Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I'm torn between Stormer and Bulk. Which one is a better buy? Quote
Bundalings Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I'm torn between Stormer and Bulk. Which one is a better buy? Bulk looks like a cooler figure overall... but I guess it depends on whether you want the white or silver pieces more, because you like to MOC and all... If I were to choose between them, I'd take Bulk for the figure, and Stormer for the pieces... Quote
The Dor Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Bulk looks like a cooler figure overall... but I guess it depends on whether you want the white or silver pieces more, because you like to MOC and all... If I were to choose between them, I'd take Bulk for the figure, and Stormer for the pieces... Peronally, I find Stormer to be a better figure. His weapon arm is much fuller than Bulk's. Even though it's more hollow on the inside. Also, I would think that black limbs would be more versatile for MoCing purposes than blue ones (but maybe I'm just not very knowledgeable on the subject). So I would suggest the opposite, Stormer as the figure and Bulk for parts. Either way, they are both great, and Zip, you won't be making a wrong decision. :) Quote

The one I got to play around with was a prototype with yellow feet, a blue eye, silver tubes, silver tentacle, and white legs, so it wasn't exactly color accurate. Quote

Superrrrfly69 Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I just got Xplode, corroder, von nebula, and rotor. Von Nebula can't make his legs straight. You basically can't bend his legs. So he's mainly a hunch backed guy. He also has lots of gaps between his body. Xplode's arms are kind of flimsy. They barely have any armor them. He also reminds me of a piraka. O__O Rotor looks just great. He performs perfectly. Corroder's weapons might get in the way with his body. I find his body very flat. Overall, if your a MOCer, get Von Nebula. For his playability, i think you'll pass. Get Rotor instead :). I am getting Thunder and Meltdown soon. Quote

As I've said before, I am friends with a Lego employee stationed here in Michigan and I sometimes get to play around with figures when he gets them in for evaluation or something like that. Either way, He lets me know what he has coming in. I believe he said Furno Bike and Bulk vs vapour would be coming in to him next week so I am hoping to see those. Quote

VBBN Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I wonder if there is any way for him to take pictures of the prototypes? I would very much like to see proto sets. Most times he doesnt get prototypes. Plus Meltdown in those colors is possible to be built using exsting pieces. Quote
