vexorian Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I think the Bara Magna sets were the best BIONICLE sets ever because they looked like their elements for once. And definitely a breath of fresh air considering the Mistika and Phantoka didn't even look remotely elemental. They are awesome. I always thought these sets were the final point of evolution in bionicle and out of the dark ages.. For some reason it seems fans hate 2009 i guess it is more because of the story... compare 2009 with any other year after 2003 and I don't think it is even a fair match set-wise :) ... Quote
VBBN Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 mkay people, go look at the Nektann box art, then come back. notice anything? Quote
Mesonak Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Exactly what I thought. How are they altered? Also, I don't think Lego's altered a piece to such an extreme before. In other words, Lego wouldn't alter a piece so that it goes straight on one set's packaging when it can only bend at a 90 degree angle IRL. -Mesonak Quote
ultimate antrozek Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I think I need to draw why I think that the arms are Bendable Quote

That's close enough to both straight and right-angled to be portrayed as near either on the packaging. Quote

That's close enough to both straight and right-angled to be portrayed as near either on the packaging. This is what I think is most likely. The only way those pieces are bending is if they are made of rubber and I really don't want to consider that possibility Quote
BioHero Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Pre-bent limbs. Unmovable. They could have just realised staright, unmovable versions of the arms too... which would suck. Not to big on some of the names, but by now they annoy me a lot less for some reason. XPlode, Meltdown, Corrodor and Thunder pwn. Not sure about the smaller sets thought, they look as though they have some Ben Ten parts. Just going to wait and see. BIOHERO Quote
Phantoka_Chirox Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) Yellow and red ankle cuffs yaaay. new feet? yaaaaay. oh and It hasn't got a spiked ball, and it is bigger. Also since it is a prelim, remember the Glatorian prelims, they had the Piraka launchers at first, so this will be changed. yay sorry that was irresistible :DD Edited January 12, 2010 by Phantoka_Chirox Quote
Artahn Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Anyone else notice that the red guy (XPlode, right?) has a dark red Skrall armor piece? See post above me.. Quote
Disturbia Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I'd never thought I would ever buy a HF set, but seeing proper pictures now I'll have to reconsider... Meltdown, Thunder, Corroder and Xplode look appealing, at least to me. Those toxic waste barrels are a great addition to Meltdown Quote
BioHero Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Anyone else notice that the red guy (XPlode, right?) has a dark red Skrall armor piece?See post above me.. Actually, I like to believe that is Mata Red, which we started to see more of with Ackar. XPlode's face reminds me of Hakann's, who was my favourite Piraka in 06. His armour looks cool, though his arms look odd. I'm disappointed to see more Thornax Launchers and Zamors. They probably just prelims though, like the launchers on the Glatorian were. BIOHERO Quote
Artahn Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I honestly think I'd find a dark red skrall armor plate a lot more useful than a bright red one. Quote
EspEth12 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) Hehehe lego does some unnecessary stuff sometimes Hero Factory is one of them. They're just bionicles with sort of real names (unlike bionicles with their strange names). But seriously they only just changed the name they're basically still bionicles with a different theme name. I'm not saying I don't like them, they're awesome and pretty cool looking. I also see lego's making vehicles for them like they did with bionicle . YES! Edited January 12, 2010 by EspEth12 Quote

Zarkan Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I think its just because they weren't making that much money from the costs of the movies and comics and writers and illustrators.... Yeah, especially since Greg said most of the target audience doesn't even care about storyline. I'm sure these sets will sell fine, as long as the packaging is eye-catching. Quote
vexorian Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I think its just because they weren't making that much money from the costs of the movies and comics and writers and illustrators.... So, instead of a movie there will be four 22-minute long episodes to be shown on TV... hmnn. I really think it is just that LEGO wanted to once again introduce conflict between good human characters and evil monsters. Bionicle was just not 'flexible' enough to introduce that kind of plot (humans in Bionicle? No way...) . Quote
Darkness Falls Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Yeah, especially since Greg said most of the target audience doesn't even care about storyline. I'm sure these sets will sell fine, as long as the packaging is eye-catching. Maybe the target audience doesn't care because he's made such a terrible story. LET THE TOPIC-SPANNING LULZ CONTINUE. Also, I'm curious as to how in-depth the episodes will be. Probably not very, but hey, it's possible. Quote
Zarkan Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Also, I'm curious as to how in-depth the episodes will be. Probably not very, but hey, it's possible. Most likely, they'll be about as in-depth as any average saturday morning cartoon from the eighties. Meaning, exactly what you said. Maybe the target audience doesn't care because he's made such a terrible story.LET THE TOPIC-SPANNING LULZ CONTINUE. Oh, you just had to do that, didn't you? Quote
InnerRayg Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Yeah, especially since Greg said most of the target audience doesn't even care about storyline. I'm sure these sets will sell fine, as long as the packaging is eye-catching. I've never really bought that myself. They don't know a lot in-depth stuff, yeah, but I doubt Bionicle could ever have lasted this long without its story. All those cool illustrations and movies and stuff are what bring people into being interested. If Hero Factory fails, I feel I will be proven correct. If not, then I suppose Lego made the right decision. Quote
Artahn Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Maybe Hero Factory is just an experiment to see if the story really is what sells sets. If Hero Factory bombs, System themes may get more of a story. If it succeeds, Bionicle may come back with less of a story (if it comes back at all), but the sets would presumably be cheaper, doe to the fact that they are no longer paying for the movies and comics and.... YES! yeh, looking at the new pictures, the only difference is the names. william furno (RED GUY) is basicly an av-matoran style inika jaller, and jimi stringer (BLACK/ORANGE GUY) is a messed up skrall. apart from the names, i would pretty much say its bionicle with a different name and storyline. theyre faces dont even look human (good for bionicle mocs ). are they wearing mechanical suits or something??? meltdown looks plain awesome! Phantoka_Chirox Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Hey look they have danger levels. Oh and hey, Xplode has the biggest danger level cuz he willz xplodez your mindz! Quote
