Brickthing Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Could someone link me to pics? I'd hate to look thtough 20 pages only to find nothing... Thanks. Right here. No deeplinking them though. Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) Right here. No deeplinking them though. Thanks! Review time: Preston Stormer: I don't like his helmet, but his shield/weapon looks cool. William Furno: Helmet reminds me a little of Jaller Inika. Awesome weapon though. Jimi Stringer: Really cool helmet and weapon. Plus, he uses my 2 favourite colors. Best impulse for me :) Natalie Breez: A little insect-like, but cool weapon. But if it's supposed to be a girl... Duncan Bulk: Reminds me of GI Joe xD Another of my favourite alongside Stringer. If he's made up of real silver I'd get him. Mark Surge: Nice weapons, eww helmet. XPlode: Awesome Piraka xD Really cool, loving every part of him except his reused weapons. Best out of the 4. Corroder: So-so. Reminds me of a Vahki. Meltdown: Cliche. But he looks good. Lovin' that single eye. Thunder: Quite okay, nothing special. The only thing that makes him stand out is that he has new weapons compared to the other regular-sized sets. Overall: Not bad by far, it seems we're moving on from the Avtoran body/limbs and Inika torso(FINALLY). What's weird is that the impulse sets all seem to have new parts for weapons, while 3 out of 4 of the bigger sets reuse parts. Bleh. Not commenting on the Titans due to lack of clearer picls. On a side note, my friend told me he'd saw a similar catalog with the HF pics in it while getting Titan Mata Nui just now. The Stars are coming in tomorrow over here in Singapore, so I'll be heading down tomorrow to get them and have a look at the catalog for clearer pics of the Titans. Hopefully I'll be able to get pics. Edited January 13, 2010 by Lockon Stratos Quote
Zarkan Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Natalie Breez: A little insect-like, but cool weapon. But if it's supposed to be a girl... So were Gali Mistika and Hahli Inika. Your point? Quote
Artahn Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I think Lego should have gone gender-neutral this time around. The only female-looking set they could do was roodaka, and that was shot down for being too girly for little kids... Quote
Algernon Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Will everybody just stop with the hate trips? I guess I'm not surprised, this is what usually happens when something with a huge fan base is replaced with something less deep. But looking at the sets, can you HONESTLY say they're any worse than what Bionicle has been pumping out for years? The only difference is Bionicle tried to tie everything together with an incredibly weak story, and now LEGO has finally seen the wisdom in doing away with that in favor of something so much simpler that it's refreshing. Bionicle was dying, and although I can't say I'm thrilled with the replacement, I do think that these sets look far more intriguing than most of the Bionicle sets I've seen over the past few years. I still probably won't buy any. Quote
Lavalizard78 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Well, here's a PM from my friend. I asked if he'd playtested yet. He says:=/ -Mesonak They need to get some TEENAGERS in there and tell them what really makes best-selling products. F ing 10 year olds designing and shaping MY toys. pfff Quote
Omicron Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 They need to get some TEENAGERS in there and tell them what really makes best-selling products. F ing 10 year olds designing and shaping MY toys. pfff Considering that these toys are not even for teenagers, it only makes sense that a kid shapes the toy into what their age group wants (or supposedly wants). -Omi Quote

That does not mean they can't learn from an eight year olds reactions to seeing the toys. Quote

I still probably won't buy any. As I said in the other topic, since the quality of the storyline is not a matter of objective fact, assertive claims like these add nothing to the debate. Nobody here is engaging in hate trips - we are simply expressing our opinions, and if you can't learn to respect them, than you don't have any place here. If you want to share what you feel about Hero Factory, fine, but enough with the "Bionicle is dying and you guys are silly for thinking otherwise" crap. Bionicle's quality or lack of quality is no more factual than Star Wars's, or Harry Potter's, or any other fantasy or science fiction story, as the quality is almost totally in the eye of the beholder. Seriously, we get it, Algenon. You hate the story, and that's fine, but that's an opinion, not a fact. I happen to like the story, and that's also an opinion. It boggles my mind how some people on this site simply can't or refuse to understand this basic truth, nor why it seems to pain you guys to hear us praise anything Greg has ever done. If you can't stand tollerate comments like "I thought 2009 was a great year for story" without replying in the manner you currently are, then again, you don't belong here or on any other dicussion forum that values respect and differing opinions. Zarkan Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 You know with replies like that, same can be said about you. -Omi Replies like what? Because nothing I said in that last post is the least bit non-sensical or unusual. On the contrary, it's based on what is and should be the single most important rule on all mature discussion boards: RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE AND THEIR OPINIONS. Simple, effective - and yet for some reason certain members don't want to follow it. Could it be that perhaps some of the people that spend a lot of time in this part of the site simply don't want to accept opposing opinions as equally valid? Because if so, than what I said above only holds even truer. Of course, I don't really expect that coming from you, especially how you took my last post in the Bionicle 2010 topic and totally twisted it. Quote

Omicron Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE AND THEIR OPINIONS. I still probably won't buy any. I don't get how are the complaints about HF images anymore of a hate trip than your bionicle rants in this post. I don't see the problem with either rant. So they like Bionicle better than HF and you do the opposite, big deal. This is just people posting their opinions and not hate trips or anything like that... What I don't like is the attitude from one side that the other is not being respectful... I think both are being equally respectful or unrespectful for that matter... I think most bionicle sets from 2002 to 2008 were bland. But I loved 2009. I mean, the sets look awesome. The villians from HF seem like will repeat that deed. The heroes though all look the same and a little bland... Quote
prateek Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Hordika? Oh yeah, I forgot about them. I liked them too. Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Well, it's not Bionicle, but it'd do. Since the start of Bionicle, I've been collecting the sets, and I'll probably just regard these as a sub-theme of Bionicle. The new parts and masks are quite interesting, and I'm glad that they're still going to be using the same general design, so these should be able to fit in. Some of the weapons are strange, though. Another thing that's good about Hero Factory is the new elements. There were only a few main elements seen in sets in Bionicle, but in Hero Factory, we're introduced to electricity, and so on. Quote

The Alchemyst Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Ewwww. Looks like his weapon goes over his prebent arms. i.e. extremely hard to use piece. Feet are new, silly armor over prebent limbs are also new. But silly Quote
