vexorian Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Idunnolol. But I'd find it pretty embarrassing to go through a line ringing up "Preston Stormer"... I wish they were just named their "surnames". It'd remind me of the Throwbot era, with simple names. Also, where does the leg armour connect? It kind of looks like maybe on the foot, or the knee, but I can't see an axle in either of those places... -K ten bucks the canisters will contain only the surnames on them. -- At least in this wave the bad guys are either bigger or much bigger than the heroes. So I really expect it to be 6 on 1 most of the time. This also means that the villains are going to be as kick-megablocks as they look. All good news to me. Quote
Bfahome Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 ten bucks the canisters will contain only the surnames on them. You're on. :D They're probably just going to have the surnames larger than the first names, like how they have "Toa TAHU". Quote
VBBN Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 From what I have seen of this initial wave, some parts are compatible, but the masks are really different from the seething Bionicle set up. Molded in mics, goofy villain faces, just a warning. there is one repainted bonkle mask tho Quote
ShaddowCroc Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Mrh . . . Anyone else find these sets . . . incredibly disappointing? Just when LEGO started fixing everything that fans were complaining about with the previous BIONICLE sets, and made what may be the greatest sets ever (The Glatorian Legends), they undo it all. -All the canisters are clone sets. They even all have the same exact limbs. Which is something not even the Av-Matoran (Which for some, are the worst sets ever made) had. -They finally made a female BIONICLE set look feminine. But now, look at Natalie Breeze. 'She' has the exact same build as the others. Meaning, guess what, 'she' looks nothing like a female! -The canister sets don't even have bendable limbs. Sure, the Agori/Av-Matoran/Stars don't either, but I'd even prefer the Piraka build to these. -Most of these parts look like they're going to be really hard to MOC with. Another disappointment, since the LEGO philosophy is supposed to be customization. It doesn't look like these sets are built for anything like that. -Even the bigger sets look pretty bad. Ackar shin armor on Metru legs? Sorry LEGO, but that's a terrible and tacky-looking combination. This is really disappointing. And it hurts, because I really don't like complaining. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) the white one's weapon is depressing. that should be, oh, 6 separate parts, but no such luck. there's no use for it. mmh, but I do like the feet. leg covers have a cool look. and the arms/legs are somewhat more usable than the 90 Edited January 15, 2010 by SpiderSpaceman Quote

Well, there is no way they can top 2009 bionicle I agree. Those glatorian and legends were just too good. But I think this year's canisters and titans are not bad. I am getting meltdown , Von Nebula and Rotor for sure.. Quote

SpiderSpaceman Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 looking back at the pictures I'm realizing none of the weapons have any lego compatible dimensions at all. no extra axles, no pin-holes... Quote
Omicron Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) Lego has done something quite interesting- they're made the impulse sets into the main characters- thus making the poor quality of the impulse sets more money and making them win. Impulse sets will always be what they are: impulse sets. Won't matter if its a main character or some guy you just like. And not sure how that is going to sway me, cuz it doesn't. I'm disapinted they are impulse sets Why? :P That makes them cheaper. -Omi Edited January 15, 2010 by Omicron Quote
jala12 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) When did this happen? It happened here. As for the Hero Factory sets, the only one I may consider getting would be Xplode. Awful name, cool appearance. Reminds me of the Piraka too. Edited January 15, 2010 by jala12 Quote
Zarkan Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 So, the story doesn't revolve around humans in armor... that's an interesting and pleasant development. However, the storyline itself doesn't sound like it will be interesting at all, and I don't see how it's possibly going to be interesting than Bionicle's storyline - which, BTW, included at least one year of story that nobody seems to dislike. I doubt the storyline of Hero Factory will be hated, but I sure don't think it's going to win any awards for originality, based on those character descriptions. As for the sets themselves, they're a mixed bag. On the one hand, they've done something no one thought possible less than a year ago - make impulse sets look nearly as sophisticated as canister sets. On the other hand, this is not suprising, as they're technically not using the Av-Matoran build. Every piece on these sets (except the hands and perhaps the heads) are brand new, including the arms, armor, body, and feet. This is both good and bad - good, because we're finally getting lots of new pieces in the small sets, and bad, because most of them don't look very useful. I mean, come on, those chestplates and leg armors look more like something out of Neo-Shifters! Some of the weapons look interesting, I'll give them that, especially the green blades and the electric swords. However, they seem to have an almost total lack of attachment points, which incidentally is a "feature" that the Ben 10 set parts also have. And the masks/helmets, while not bad by any means, don't have any real personality IMO. They just all look like generic robots, rather than having any distinct elemental features like the helmets of 2009. Overall, this line is looking to be a big step down from some of Bionicle's best years, and I'm having a hard time viewing it in the same light as the latter theme when they seem to be very different in many ways. Quote
VBBN Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Why? :PThat makes them cheaper. -Omi Because I'd rather pay $12 for 40-60 pieces for a canister set than $8-9 for 14-17 pieces in an impulse. Quote
vexorian Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 It happened here. Now take any non-skrall glatorian and make him do the same poses. I bet any of them will look girly once you make him do that. But honestly, without those poses, as a set Kiina is just like every other blue toa we've had so far, these things simply don't look feminine to me... Quote
Omicron Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Because I'd rather pay $12 for 40-60 pieces for a canister set than $8-9 for 14-17 pieces in an impulse. So that means you won't buy them because they are impulse? -Omi Quote
vexorian Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) So that means you won't buy them because they are impulse?-Omi I am guessing many (including me) are not going to buy the heroes because we are not interested in re-enacting the story and these sets really blow... I mean, they are just av-Matoran except with less usable parts (by the way, it is kind of a rip off, in the Bionicle ending announcement they did promise a more flexible building system, these guys are seriously away from that) and they are all clones of each other which is seriously what drove me away from bionicle for good for 6 years before the glatorian appeared to have fixed that issue... Overall the heroes are extremely low quality and I think that the only way to make sure LEGO does not make this mistake again is not to buy them. It is not about them being pricey or impulse. It is more about the quality. The pieces seem over specialized. The piece/price ratio is hideous and they all look the same. Compare with the bionicle Stars, they were overpriced but at least each of them was quite unique and the parts are useful so I might buy a couple of them even though they are overpriced impulse sets. But in the case of these ones, it doesn't seem worth it. I am way more interested on/hopeful about the villains right now. Hopefully they will be as good as they look like in the retailer's catalog. LEGO don't make the same mistake with the villains, please ... Edited January 15, 2010 by vexorian Quote
Lavalizard78 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Wow. I knew that these were gonna be lame, (the good dudes) but not this lame! On all of the good dudes, their leg armour is not only the same, but it is 1 peice! No variety in armour. Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 At first i thought they were gonna be completley done with bionicle. But i guess i was wrong . Lego hero factory is almost the same thing as bionicle. Why did they even cancel the bionicle line and start a new story? Quote

BioHero Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 These guys are sweet. Awesome weapons, helmets/masks and for some reason, I like the cloneness. I find Preston and Natalie's weapons weird, Preston's being a messy 3-in-1 and Natalie having some weird blades. My personal favourite is Duncan, he looks cool and his helmet seems to be a cross of Crotesius and Halo. BIOHERO Quote
