Trionx Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 "(short version: super heroes and villains theme, massive online community and customization abilities, including the ability to affect the toy line and story line!)."This thing is quite interesting... Also to note it's a massive online community, which doesn't necessarily mean mmorpg... hmn... And... the "ability to affect the toy line"?, That's also intriguing, how will the online community will get that (incredibly useful) ability? I'm thinking that its LEGO trying to make an official version of BZPower in the sense that some of the story is made up by fans. Though it seems here that the fans will have a greater impact on the story than BIONICLE. This'll be interesting to see. Why does this remind me of that Batman story where people could phone in to vote for the annoying Robin to be killed? I feel that Technic should expand on making fantasy creatures, etc so we can have some semblance of the original complexity of Bionicle sets. The Bahrag remains one of my favorite sets ever. I agree, some of the best BIONICLE sets IMO were the '01 Rahi and the '08-'09 vehicles. The only problem I see with Technic is that the sets would be to expensive for me to get. I hope HF has Alaxara-sized sets next year.... Quote
Makuta Plasmix Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 How is the fact there are only 8 do-able sets a good thing? Or do you for some reason felt the obligation to buy all the sets every year? Last year I only got 1 legend and Tuma, not because of lack of availability but because I don't have that much money so I chose what I liked more...I am sure that if action figurez was all a kid wanted a smart parent wouldn't bother buying ones that have a higher price tag just because of the single second it takes to build them. Perhaps they would buy some actual action figure that can do more things or is a famous superhero and not something as generic as these guys... Well, it is likely that if the kid throws a tantrum they'll buy one of them. But after seeing how little the set really has to offer, I guess the parent will assume 'rip off' and not buy any HF set anymore. Well, these sets are good for mocing, so I want as many as I can get. The Dor Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 So am I the only person who actually likes the Heroes? More specifically the weapon arms? I think they'll look awesome. And since I was never actually planning on using these guys for MoCs, I think that's a great thing. I mean, my favorite sets are Jimi Stringer, Preston Stormer, and Duncan Bulk.I find these guys at least as aesthetically pleasing as the Mata, only in a different way. I like the big guns :3 Also: I just noticed that it's the "Rookies" who have the same torso armor, all the others have custom armor. And the rookies don't have gun-arms. Quote

And great observation. Quote
The Dor Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Nope, I love 'em.And great observation. Also they have dual weapons (even Blaze, I want to see him holding one blaster in each hand though). I'm hoping they can actually "fire" some of the weapons (specifically Stormer and Blaze), as well as remove the "H" emblem on their chests. That would be great. Similar to knocking masks off. Also I'm quite interested in Surge's "electrical shields" and I want to know if all the heroes have them. Also, the story sounds much more flexible and sounds like it would be great for the target audience. Giving structured missions for the heroes, with the possibilities for your own missions and heroes. That would be pretty neat actually. Quote
Bfahome Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Also I'm quite interested in Surge's "electrical shields" and I want to know if all the heroes have them. Wouldn't those be the zappy things he's holding? Quote
The Dor Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Wouldn't those be the zappy things he's holding? " ... his skill in manipulating his electrical shield, armor and lightning weapon ..." I'd assume those zappy things would be his lightning weapons. Which, btw, have to orientations at which they can be held. That's awesome. Quote
Mata Nui Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Well, this wont be the sets I will buy. At least, I got many lines to enjoy. Castle(Kingdoms), Atlantis is good, Prince Of Persia,..... Quote

Not a big fan of the Star Wars theme? We are getting some really great sets this summer... I enjoy those big guns as well, I just think their MOCing potential is close to zero. Quote
Chef Hatchet Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 .....ew I thought the sets looked decent at first... but these look like incredibly crappy Mega Bloks sets. :sceptic: Quote
Zip Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 MMORPG totally reminds me of Neo Shifters. I still can't tell how Blaze is holding his weapon. Quote
The Dor Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I still can't tell how Blaze is holding his weapon. I'm pretty sure he's holding two weapons, one on each side of his hand. Quote
VBBN Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 The rookie weapons are gloriously reusable, the gun arms are an absolute eyesore Quote
The Dor Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 She has the same chest piece as Blaze and Surge, I'm pretty sure. It seems to be the "rookie" chest piece. Quote
Phantoka_Chirox Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) lego is developing a liking for rookies. Gresh included. The only one that looks happy is xplode since he's smiling. yaay go optimism Edited January 17, 2010 by Phantoka_Chirox Quote

ultimate antrozek Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Antrozek, I'm convinced that there isn't a thing in the world you can't make look awesome in your artwork style. Lego don't make teaser like that awesome anymore. Im sad. So I decided to make epic..Hero Factory Quote
Wrinkledlion X Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Jack Stone is to System as Hero Factory is to BIONICLE. Quote
Front Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 AFOL - Bionicle Team : 1 - 0 The match is not over yet Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Now that I know the story, it's pretty much what I had in mind after seeing the name and sets. While it might be good for some, maybe the similarity between Hero Factory and Bionicle will put off some people. Seeing how they're "built", I get a feeling there will probably be alternate or combiner models. Quote
---Vertea--- Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 hey fellas- two days until we see who gets one of the hero factory sets from Twitter! I'm really very excited despite the late shipping date. Quote
