satrap Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I think it's about taste, really. Personally, I liked Bionicle story-line wise in comparison to what we know so far in Hero Factory. On the other hand, seeing how it doesn't have story restraints (i.e. the sets have to correspond with the story), this means we can see more things such as elements and weapons that we normally wouldn't get.On the other hand, there is that horrible weapon-arm in some of the sets, which could be a good thing, but I imagine it's mostly bad because of poseability issues. i agree with you i think the same because we do not know much about this new story line so lets not judge it before we have enough info. do not judge a book by its cover Quote
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Great. Turns out that Hero Factory is about a factory that produces robotic heroes. Next thing you know, Von Nebula is the landlord who threatens to shut down the factory by any means necessary. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) I now know what Hero Factory sets lacks. They're not cool. -Ikk :D Edited January 21, 2010 by Ikki o' Moopyville Quote
Darkness Falls Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I now know what Hero Factory sets lacks. They're not cool. -Ikk :D All I got from that article is a justification of why the 2007 sets were awesome. I have no complaints with that- they were awesome. However, there are just as many cool pieces on these guys as there were on the Barraki, Mahri, etc. I think the thing Lego is really trying to emulate here is the fact that these things are robots, and they are advanced to the level that all or their armor is streamlined and polished. At least, that's what I feel. I'd really love it if this was a sequel to Bionicle. Like, it's when Spherus Magna was returned to its original state and Matoran and Toa evolved into more organic forms, resulting in the need to build Heroes to protect them. Is that just me? Quote
Still Raindrop Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I think the new trailer, showing that the arms and legs are the same, answer that question, since one-piece leg armor wouldn't work too well if it didn't bend with the leg. Sooo… I doubt it.He basically confirmed that they aren't. Got it; I misread. Quote

I agree with you about the look LEGO was going for; I'm glad I'm not the only one who seems to see it that way. As a sequel to BIONICLE, I think it would be kind of meh. It sounds like a prequel/crossover storyline I toyed with way back in BIONICLE's early days, with the Slizers being "imitation Toa" the Matoran created while waiting for the true Toa to arrive. Roboriders were also somewhere in that equation, but today I can't quite remember. I had a wandering mind back in those days, and tried to establish ties between all my favorite LEGO themes-- there was an Ice Planet 2002 and Rock Raiders crossover somewhere as well. Quote

The Crazy One Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 /headdeskThis topic is now about complaining. Anyone caught speaking of Hero Factory 2010 will face administrative action. Alright bossy boots. To be honest, I don't see much to complain about, apart from maybe the arms. Quote
Scyzoryk Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I've never really been a fan of Bionicle. >.> I might just pick up a set or two for the weapons + armor, even though Technic is not something I like. (Definitly the black and silver dudes.) Quote
Brickthing Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Please keep the topic at least vaguely related to Hero Factory. There isn't really a spot for mask discussion right, so maybe a Kanohi Discussion topic could be in order... Quote
Scyzoryk Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Can't we all just get along? (And go back on topic aswell in the mean time.) Quote
80 Dollar Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I just noticed that Surge has silver arms...I thought they were gray. Nice. Still don´t have any decent pictures of Rotor and Nebula? Quote

RileyC Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I liked the teaser it made me intrigued about the product but I think they look like a knock off brand of bionicles IMO Quote

Dunjohn Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 *sigh* Up to this point, I had still been hoping that "Hero Factory" was still just a working title. It really is awful, but I guess we're stuck with it now. It was a slim hope to begin with, I know. The video was nice, even so. And I do like that the line keeps its Bionicle roots. I may not be a Bionicle fan, but I've always respected its place in the lineup. Quote
Bfahome Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I just noticed that Surge has silver arms...I thought they were gray. Nice. I hope that isn't just LEGO using the CGI to make things look shinier. Bionicle much? Hello, welcome to the BIONICLE forum. Quote
birdie100 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Watching that promo is distinctly uninspiring. "hero factory heroes"... I know I'm not the intended age range but that phrase doesn't make sense! I do hope this advert won't be used on TV as it looks very dull and boring, all grey and cold and frankly a dull toy. There's no real evidence of what you'd actually do with it; the adventures you could have? This has the makings of being another Lego Explore moment when this line bombs. Having said that though I thought Power Miners would be distinctly poor sellers but they've sold really well. Quote
VBBN Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Small drip of news, drop ship hero is not surge. bilk and vapor is store exclusive Quote
Brickthing Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Hopefully in future waves the canisters might decrease in numbers, which would probably improve the characterization of each one. Aside from the vehicles, the heroes are smaller and probably a lot less powerful than the villains, so I suspect the missions will feature 2 heroes against each villain in a fashion similar to Agents. Lavalizard78 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) Gee, i thought lego was copying off a dodge trucks or something. they have a commercial where its like "dodge, we build blah, we build blah and blah, we build trucks" now lego comes out with a cheesier-than cheese pizza motto. poor lego. you've lost my respect for you as a "company that builds a toy for all ages" Edited January 22, 2010 by 3D Brickthing Smiley to text ratio way too high... Bfahome Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 you've lost my respect for you as a "company that builds a toy for all ages" So by creating a new line that targets younger audiences, they're no longer building toys for all ages? Quote
