Pretty sure I said this like 20 pages back, but.....

I would like to point out that the only reason I ever got into Bionicle was because I liked giant robots as a kid. Storyline meant little to nothing for me when Bionicle began. I got more into the story as the years progressed, but with the release of Hero Factory, I'm right back at Step 1.

So yeah. These are cool robots, I like cool robots, and will probably buy them. Storyline should not affect the purchase of cool toys. /=

IMO.

Truth.

Although there are urges when you have 5 of a set and you need to finish it, but that may be just me. @_@

Blaze's Blades remind me awfully of Skrall blades.

And the oversized-ness and how he holds them reminds me of Gresh Star.

Oh and maybe possible that Natalie's weapons are two pieces? Green blade has an axle to silver hilt?

If so, that'd be wonderful.

Because Hero Factory isn't that different from Bionicle after-all. Hopefully in future waves the canisters might decrease in numbers, which would probably improve the characterization of each one.

Or at least improve my wallet. =P

I've become a bit sick of the usual six "good" sets and six "bad" sets in Bionicle. After a while, they do start becoming a bit hard to manage. In this case, we have ten sets altogether so far, and it's sort of good if you want to save money. I don't know if they will decrease in number, but at least they could release sets at a slower rate. Maybe six sets total per wave?

It looks more like two thin connections where the two colours mix, as seen in Tarix's blades.

I kinda like the idea that lego have made. Bioniclke was set in the past, and this line is set in the future. In bionicle the story never really told you where they came from; that they just appear. This line tells you how the heroes came into existance. Im not saying that hero factory is better than bionicle, i just like the idea. Im definitly getting some. My favorites are jimi stringer, preston stormer and mark surge. Is surges' arms a metalic grey, like in vezon and fenrakk?

Am i the only one who likes these sets?

Eh, I don't like these, but I don't get all worked up about it. Some of the masks are really cool, though, and would look great on Agori villagers. I just personally miss the more alien look of Bionicle figures. I won't mind focusing my wallet and imagination of the Bara Magna sets rather than these. :classic:

We havent seen HD pics of the criminals yet, have we :hmpf_bad: ? i swear that meltdown is alien...

You're right, the villains look decent -- I was referring to the small guys only, since we don't have good pics of the rest. xD

Maybe I'm just spoiled because the Bara Magna sets were so good.

Didnt the description say that they're teleported through space? maybe the criminals are alien robots, and thats why they look alien-like. That, or that lego just wanted the bad guys to look evil.

And also through time... We might get in some point some dinosaurs, huge insects and stuff... The thing is, a "superhero" theme is extremely flexble, so, to some point you can have organic things and monsters, and giant animals, and mutants, and stuff; you can also have robots, cyborgs and stuff, and you can also have legends, magic powers and fantasy settings. So, a hero theme is actually a really good idea when used properly.

so when lego say "a more flexible line" they dont mean more posable, but that they can put more stuff into it more than bionicle?

I have wondered why people think the action figures of the new line would be more flexible, i.e. posable than Bionicle. That was not what Jan Faltum stated, when he announced the end to Bionicle. He said that the line would be more flexible in the way that it's not tied up by a complex story developed over a long time.

Go back and check if you disagree.

so it'll be something along the lines of beating up the bad guys, going home and then beat them up again?

AHH!!!! ALL HOPE IS LOST!!!

stupid wording getting my hopes up. That wasn't algebraic, not algebraic at all... (sorry, I have "Adventure Time!" on my mind)

I thought it was a flexible building system, but that's just me.

Got the new Toyfare. The comic art looks incredible. Preston Stormer looks like crap from the front, Blaze, Breez, and Surge look great.

Are any of those images that we haven't seen before? If so, can you make scans? :sweet:

.....

The LEGO Group will debut a new, more flexible buildable figure property created by the same people who brought you BIONICLE

.......

The above is taken from the "end of Bionicle announcement". The word flexible concerns the word property, not figure.

But don't worry, articulation value has yet to peak.

It sounded exciting at first "more flexible buildable figure" ... I thought LEGO would go back to its roots into making it about building toys rather than about following storyline at the same time as we get ripped off by av-matoran-ish builds that have overspecialized pieces. Now that we know it is just because of storyline this really blows. Bionicle's storyline was flexible enough, I mean if it was able to comprise both the toa mata and the decepticons from 2008 then no change in story was really needed to improve the sets...

Another disappointment now is :

he LEGO Group achieves its greatest success by embracing the uncertainty that innovation brings. After all, BIONICLE almost never launched because it was such a big risk to the company’s way of doing business.
It is disappointing that there was actually no innovation at all about this. In fact, it seems like LEGO is just playing it safe by making repetitive sets using the av-matoran build they already know is an easy way to get money while not delivering LEGO's usual experience of a buildable set.

-

Beyond style stuff, these sets are a lot less LEGO-like than the original Bionicle or even the glatorian stuff. They are placing even less emphasis on it being a buildable toy than in the past.

Woah, where'd my last few posts go? And for that matter, where'd Darth Vader's post that I just replied to go?

When I heard "more flexible line" I was thinking on more varied builds and Technic.

But I have hope for Technic in the Drop Ship

The pic makes me think the dropship is so small that you'll probably get a lot more interesting Technic fun from 2008/9 vehicles.
