I've been thinking: will HF have comics like BIONICLE? If not, how will they do the story? Obviously, they're not gonna do the same with BIONICLE, otherwise they would've had Greg do it.

It was said that there were not going to be comics for HF. just the series.

I think that the comic was made by the Toyfare producers

The comics are, apparently, custom made so any piece can be fit into them, allowing fans to put their own hero into the comic- they're virtual.

I hope the story isn't repetetive: first team (alpha team) made, some bad guy to beat up, Then beta team and some more bad guys :P ...

Hey, darkness falls, do you have those scans yet? If not, does anyone Else have them?

I'm already about 99.999% I won't be buying any of these.

Here here!

Hohum. These things are awful. :look:

I was left going :hmpf: the whole way through the commercial. Boring as sin and not interesting at all.

I'm going to agree with you on both of these.

That commercial doesn't compare to the epic commercials and such that Bionicle had.

It's not a commercial. It's just a teaser.

The real commercial will have all the sets at least in the end. Lego will never promotione just 1 set over all the other of the same line. That's not how Lego works.

If HERO FACTORY were real. maybe the teaser they show us. Could be the commercial about the Factory in their world promoting the hard work they do. lol

heaven forbid a teaser doesn't show much...

This topic has become a major bash-fest for something that in all honesty is looking like a far better prospect than what Bionicle was becoming. Let Bionicle die... it's time has come. Alternate universes, giant robots, sudden plot changes, and a paper-thin story are all that is left of what started out as a mysterious and wonderful thing. Part of what made Bionicle so nice was that it's story was loose and vague so that the builder could fill in the blanks and play as they imagined. But as it grew, the fans demanded more story, and thus successfully tied down all playability to the specifics that they requested.

I think, personally, that Hero Factory is a reboot we've needed for about three and a half years now. Sure, we've had some nice sets, but the story was suffering huge. The Hero Factory premise is simple and allows once more for the builder to make adventures in strange places. The figures look pretty darn cool, and will be far easier to play with as they lack those many joints that were nice for posing, but not nice for playing with.

There are limits with the armor, yes, but I can still see much to be done with the rest of the pieces, and those are only impulse sets, anyway. The villains look choc- full of interesting uses, and the vehicles look promising.

So please, gentlemen and ladies... Let Bionicle go. It ran it's course, we enjoyed it, but ultimately, I was hearing more complaint than praise from you guys, so I can't imagine why a new line is such a terrible thing.

It’s not different enough lol, different enough to have strange helmets with faces but not different enough to be unique

Guys, please stop loading up this topic with whining and complaining about the new sets. There wasn't even this much complaining for the Nuva revamps! Get over it guys, this is the new theme, it's here to stay, and you are complaining about the smaller sets. We will be getting canister sets for the good guys in summer, can't you last a few months? The smaller sets aren't useful for mocing, they never were, it's no different. Buy the bad guys instead, or, move back to another theme. Simple!

I call humbug. The pre 2008 matoran had very useful parts and a much, much better piece count/price ratio. Clones are annoying too, even the Agori have more variation. We are not asking LEGO for something they haven't ever done before.

Far enough, but, I do believe people are completely over reacting to HF.

I thought LEGO would go back to its roots into making it about building toys rather than about following storyline at the same time as we get ripped off by av-matoran-ish builds that have overspecialized pieces.

Yeah, LEGO should take this line back to the roots of its predecessor, BIONICLE. Yanno, the sets that had all that articulation, no giant torso pieces, and that weren't just clones with minor differences in weapons and limbs.

I understand that you are upset at not having anything completely new, but in all honesty, a replacement line for Bionicle should be expected to follow in it's footsteps design-wise. If you want something new, then look for it in another category.

Every year Lego goes back to its roots. You build the sets do you not?

I just noticed that next to the heroes' 'mouths' there is a circle. It kinda looks like a micraphone. I can't see one on Duncan, and it's hard to see jimis' and prestons', but their there.

In all honesty, I think its time we close this and Bionicle 2010; they seem to be more of a source of anger than it is a source of discussion...

Talking about the negatives of themes is a form of discussion. Not everything has to be positive, otherwise what is the point in discussing?

Gotta have both.

For once, I actually agree with you. Seriously, I don't see anything wrong with the discussion in this topic - it's for the most part very polite, and sure a lot calmer than much of the discussion in the Bionicle 2010 topic. And really, if you're allowed to criticize Bionicle as much as you like on this forum, why shouldn't you be alowed to do the same with Hero Factory, if you truly don't like it?

Really though, have you ever tried an av-matoran set? Pick any 2008 matoran, 2009 agori or 2010 star. Chest, armor torso, hips and neck all come from a single giantic piece that looks awful. You then attach the limbs and it is ready... It feels so LEGO unlike that I too felt the need for a change from Bionicle... With Inika builds, there are at least variations like where / how to put the pins that are needed to put pieces together and then the armor stuff/accessories depending on the line... It is at least mildly interesting.

At this rate they will begin to ship the "small" sets pre-built to please the focus groups that want everything simple (odd though, my 7 years old cousin (when he was 7 years old) seemed to love to build toa)
