cheesey skrall Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 (edited) just noticed they replaced the Vahki blades with new custom ones!Another thing: What's that grey piece on Corroder's groin? i never knew that Corroder had vahki blades in the first place. The grey thing on His crotch is to hold the back weapons in place. It could be slightly prelim, 'cause on MELTDOWNS box he has green tubes, but on the set is silver Ive also noticed that the boxes dont have the stats on them. maybe their on the back? Nightmare Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Set description, taken from BS01: Hero Factory canister sets: 7164 Preston Stormer: Leader of the Hero Factory Alpha team, and has completed more missions than all the other heroes. He is brave, tough and proud. Armor is white and blue and his left arm has various weapons attached. Including a multipurpose ice weapon, a buzz saw, harpoon and bolt launcher, all in one piece. Looks pretty spiffy if you ask me. 7165 Natalie Breez: Rookie from the Hero Factory with lime green and black armor. She is know for agility, and looks up to her fellow rookie, William Blaze. She carries two energized boomerangs, with harpoons on the end. Looks like Hero Factory will follow BIONICLE's trend, with Breez being the only female canister set. But then again they're robots so they shouldn't have genders. Go figure. 7167 William Blaze: Another rookie, Blaze is positive and quite intelligent. Has bright red and orange armor. Weapon is a dual fire shooter, which consists of two identical pieces attached to the same hand. Sometimes called "William Furno" in my press materials, but I think Blaze is his finalized last name. 7168 Duncan Bulk: Toughest member of the Alpha Team. When I first saw pictures of him his armor looked like the same color as Hewkii Inika's gunmetal, but instead it is regular silver and black. Has a multipurpose gun of sorts (in the story it fires metal spheres, but the set does not). Like the other Alpha Team robots, his weapon covers his entire arm. 7169 Mark Surge: Youngest rookie on the team, and a little clumsy. Armor is bright blue and silver. Has two small shields that fire electrical bolts. 7170 Jimi Stringer: Highly advanced member of the Alpha Team. Has black and orange armor. Also has full arm weapon that looks like a cannon that emits sonic waves. Medium boxed sets: 7147 Xplode: Red and black villain with explosive spikes on his arms and back that he fires at enemies without second thought (story only, set spikes can't be fired). Spikes are a new piece, as well as his helmet and weapon (which resembles Krika's legs). Also holds a Meteor Launcher (Thornax launcher with a printed Zamor). 7148 Meltdown: One-eyed and highly destructive villain with yellow and black armor. Has tanks of radioactive sludge on his back that connect to a weapon to shoot the sludge. Like all the medium sets, he has a Meteor launcher, but his Zamor is different from the rest (looks like a Piraka Zamor). 7156 Corroder: Lime green and black villain with corrosive saliva (apparently robots have saliva) and skilled in melee combat. He can stand on two legs or use his weapons to walk on all fours. Also has a horn on his helmet and meteor launcher that he uses in combat. 7157 Thunder: Tougher than the villains mentioned above. Armor is silver and black. Has a large three-fingered claw, bladed shoulder and meteor launcher. 7145 Von Nebula: Leader of all the villain sets. Mostly black armor with a little blue. Holds a staff with a black/blue multicolored Tridax pod on it. Many people seem to like his helmet, which is a black Hydraxon face. 7162 Rotor: Orange and black villain with a jet pack and helicopter propeller. Vehicle sets: 7158 Blaze Bike: Orange and silver motorcycle. has Thornax launchers on the sides, although they don't seem to be called Meteor launchers here (also has red balls). Includes a weaponless model of William Blaze that differs from the canister set (orange is switched to red and has Mata feet). 7160 Drop Ship: Armed yellow aircraft designed to carry Hero Pods to where they are needed. I'm not sure what these hero pods look like, but they're are probably the canisters the heroes come in, and the Drop Ship looks wide enough to pick up canisters. Includes an unnamed rookie hero with a blue Crotesius helmet. This is also the largest Hero Factory set. Note: Vehicle sets do not have the functions that BIONICLE vehicles did. However, they are (IMO) very well built, and the lower prices should make up for it. Quote

Bfahome Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 What "lower prices" does he speak of? The fact that it's not $80? And also the Drop Ship can pick up individual heroes and drop them places, so no loss of functions there. Quote
Zip Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 The fact that it's not $80? Compared to Jetrax or even Rockoh, it should be $40. And don't get me started on Blaze Bike. Worst price to parts ratio in its class since the Ussanui? Quote

Worst price to parts ratio in its class since the Ussanui? It looks smaller than the Jetrax did, but then the Jetrax was quite thin and skeletal. http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?aut...showentry=80431 Quote
vexorian Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 (edited) As skeletal as Jetrax was (I personally think it looked cooler than drop ship) It still had more pieces, a more interesting build and an actual function ... Even Rockoh had those things and it costed 10 bucks less than drop ship, whose only function seems to be a rope and a pulley... What "lower prices" does he speak of? Yes, that's non-sense , the whole line - with the exception of the heroes which are just as overpriced as 2009 agori - is priced a lot worse than 2009. Systemically everything from 'canisters' to vehicles and also including titans keeps the same prices as last year but with much fewer pieces and less ... value? I mean, the sets are definitely shorter, and due to more simplified pieces are less useful for MoCs and construction is quicker. Edited February 17, 2010 by vexorian Quote
Cap'n Kopaka Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I doubt I'll end up getting any sets because of the fact I'm tight on money but Stringer looks pretty amazing. Then again maybe it's just because he's orange and black. And has the name Jimi. :\ But yeah other than the ridiculous prices the sets so far look very nice - definitely different but similar to Bionicle, with its superhero feel going on. *totally irrelevant to current discussion but is way too out of the loop to care* ~ck Quote

We don't know for sure if the Drop Ship's build is skeletal or not at this point. But with that number of parts, one can only guess. But we're not comparing Bionicle to System here. It's Bionicle to Bionicle Hero Factory. None of these vehicles look like they have more expensive pieces than their Bionicle predecessors. IDK. Maybe Lego has some super-cool promos that cost a lot to pay for, and thus needed to inflate the price of their sets. Or maybe they're just pulling a Star Wars on us. Zaktan of the Shadows Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Too pricey... I don't think I'll buy many of these guys. I'll still get Rotor though. -ZotS Quote
ultimate antrozek Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 ACID + PARKOUR + AWESOMENESS = CORRODER Quote
Aanchir Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) ACID + PARKOUR + AWESOMENESS = CORRODER I actually prefer the point as a nose rather than a horn, since it looks like Tenguman from the Megaman games or Shiftry from the Pokemon games (both based on the Japanese Tengu). Just my opinion, though, and this interpretation is still epic. You don't need to quote a big picture when it's from the post just above. Edited February 19, 2010 by 3D Brickthing Quote

toatali Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 So now you know about the weapons and the back of the boxes!!! Quote
cheesey skrall Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 So now you know about the weapons and the back of the boxes!!! I hope that Stormers ice nuckleduster becomes trans-blue on the final version. Box art looks great as always. Quote
Bfahome Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 That's awesome how Bulk has his finger on the trigger. Quote
Aanchir Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I don't mind the huge one-piece weapon-arms that much, but it's kind of a disappointment that Preston Stormer uses a black y-joint rather than a blue one to attach his. It draws more attention to the attachment point than is necessary. I'm also kinda disappointed that Preston Stormer's tool seems blended with solid colors rather than having transparent ice blue at the end. Same goes for Natalie Breez's weapon. But both might be preliminary. Love the mask designs, though. Quote
Cap'n Kopaka Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Judging from the backs of those two canisters, the Heroes all have respective archenemies. Or it might just be pure promotion like how the Mistika had different Avtoran pinned on their backs :S But Stormer vs. von Nebula makes sense because they're the leaders and all. Quote
Aethersprite Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Am I the only one interested in Mark Surge? Quote
Bundalings Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Am I the only one interested in Mark Surge? No, he's one of the three Heroes I plan to buy, along with Natalie and Preston. The others... do not appeal to me. And Preston's arm is a big letdown. =/ I also plan on getting Rotor and Meltdown. I'll probably end up getting a lot more than just those five... for pieces or 'cause they end up looking cooler later. Quote

I think Im gonna get Stormer, Bulk and Surge Quote
The Crazy One Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I'm going to get the whole line. I always do that with promising a new theme. Waste of money? I'll soon find out. Quote
EspEth12 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) I'm going to buy the whole line. I hope their as promising as they look. EDIT:all except for corroder and maybe von nebula. I don't like them much Edited February 21, 2010 by EspEth12 Quote
Bfahome Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I'm probably not going to get any of them. Which sucks because they're cool. :| Quote
