Mesonak Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Sale? No, regular price. Now, I think we should stop speaking of the Stars in this topic. Let's move it to the 2010 topic; That needs some life. :P -Mesonak Quote
Monasti Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 The Hero Factory sets should be about the same price as the stars, right? Apart from the villains, of course. Quote

Yes, the Heroes are the same price. So, apparently there is now a drawing contest with Stormer and FURNO (not Blaze UGH) as well as a HF lanyard and notebook as prizes. Woo? Aanchir Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Yes, the Heroes are the same price. So, apparently there is now a drawing contest with Stormer and FURNO (not Blaze UGH) as well as a HF lanyard and notebook as prizes. Woo? What's wrong with Furno? I think it's a lot more creative than Blaze. Meanwhile, I'm intrigued by the drawing contest. BIONICLE never had a contest focusing on landscapes, unless you count that one playset-building contest in 2005 or 2006. I hope the winning entries are published in a future issue so we can see what sort of talent and imagination the young'uns these days have. Meanwhile, I love some of the descriptions in that magazine of upcoming web content for the Hero Factory website. It sounds like creativity remains the order of the day, what with "construct your own Hero Factory team and share your adventures". Good to hear. Of course, it's also possible that it's just another online game, but I'm hoping it's something more creative like the example we see in the "design a villain" section. Speaking of which, I tried designing a villain a week or so ago, and accidentally hit the back button. Blah. I'll try again sometime; it's a pretty fun interface. Quote
The Dor Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 (edited) What's wrong with Furno? I think it's a lot more creative than Blaze. Well, see, I was quite a fan of the fact that he could be referred to as "Billy Blaze," which Bfahome made into a lovely little signature which can no longer be used, unfortunately, because of the name change. This is one of the reasons I like the Hero Factory concept. It focuses more on imagination, and more of an individual experience. When I was younger-ish and playing w/ BIONICLE, I didn't like how the story put pressure on me to stay within the BIONICLE world. I think that kids will like this more than BIONICLE (hopefully, because I want LEGO to keep up the "constraction" figure concept), and that this line will expand. Speaking of which, I tried designing a villain a week or so ago, and accidentally hit the back button. Blah. I'll try again sometime; it's a pretty fun interface. I don't like the fact that there isn't any way to save your villains, other than screenshots. Also, I find it pretty boring. Maybe that's just me. ALSO, am I the only one who wants an Akiyama Makuhero set? I think he looks pretty awesome, and more than a little sinister. Edited June 14, 2010 by The Dor Quote
Front Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Bink is not in the Billund office right now, but I should call him and complain that the website, although initially cool, is now boring. We need new content. Videos and stuff. I have a feeling sets will start creeping into the market. Quote

I hope that there is a chance of a more LDD-like creator for villains and heroes. Quote

Aanchir Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Where did you find that picture? :O The folder, if anyone's interested. It's not mine, I just deleted part of the URL to find the folder. About time, too; I have had trouble finding these pics since so many Hero Factory folders on Brickshelf are just unpleasable BIONICLE fans making uninspired putdowns of the line. Originally these pics are from a French online HF video. No idea where the video came from, but it was a few months back that we saw it for the first time. Quote

The Dor Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Another site w/ HF sets for pre-order. Also, CGI pics. Woot. So. Rotor costs less than Von Nebula. Which makes sense, because looking back, VN has more pieces. Which means he is even more worthless as a set, IMO. He's just such a tragic figure: no elbows, reused mask, oddly constructed legs (that look very restricted range-of-motion wise to me)... he just doesn't look like he's worth anything other than the beautiful blue / black blended parts. :\ Also, I have yet to figure out how Thunder's chest armor is stabilized. It only has one axle connecting it to the torso, and it's through a slot that (on the torso) is a pin hole, so it would be loose there. I've thought of a lot of ways, but none match up w/ the piece count. Hopefully these guys come out soon because I'm super excited for them. Hopefully they don't ACTUALLY come out in August for like the first time :P Quote

I still think it's likely that Rotor and Von Nebula will cost the same amount As for Von Nebula, the construction and posability of the set may not be as good as previous titans, but the overall effect does look very menancing and evil, especially with those new spike pieces. And a recoloured Bionicle mask is the next best thing from a new mold, so it's not much of a con in my opinion. Quote

I realized that after looking over some of the Toy Fair pictures-- they have the same MSRP. So, that website does just have wrong prices. See, considering that Hero Factory is being marketed as a "constraction figure" line, I would consider his value, as a figure, to be heavily based on his articulation and construction. Yes, a figure's appearance DOES make a big difference, and YES, the overall effect is good. Great, in fact, but he also has a lot of holes and he looks like he'd only be visually pleasing from a handful of angles. Also, I seem to have done the same thing I hated so many of the people on BZP for doing: calling a recolored mask a bad thing! Man, I really am tired today. I agree completely about the black Hydraxon mask being awesome. And I like the way the Mantax claws work with the mask as well, hope this concept is used again. Quote
