Aethersprite Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 "Zombie-cyborg-pirate-ninja-lawyers riding undead cyborg bears with laser vision! AND THEY'RE ON FIRE!!" It's only a matter of time before someone makes an MOC out of this. Quote
Brickthing Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 If it hasn't been mentioned already, Bulk and Vapour are now on the Hero Factory website, with juicy new images: “Attention Hero Bulk, Vapour has just been spotted causing major mayhem and he must be stopped. Report immediately to the Refitting Room to be mission-equipped with special breathing helmet, jetpack and a special weapon for each arm. Only this special equipment, your strength and experience can withstand Vapour’s dual tube-fed weapons that shoot corrosive vapour!” It's a pity that Stringer's weapon isn't recoloured for this set, but there are some nice pieces such as 4 Black Thornax launcher pieces, Blue Ben 10 limbs, 2 Blue Bohrok eyes and 3 Orange Mahri tubes as well as the 3 exclusive Blue recolours. The upgraded Bulk looks good, although Vapour's weapon assortment is too varied to make sense. The rest of the sets (Villains and Vehicles) are also on the website, along with instructions. Quote

Considering that I already have Bulk, I think that takes away quite a bit of the appeal. It would have been awesome if it had been a new hero, even if it just had recolored helmet and armor. Oh well, at least Bulk *is* cool like that. I built him w/ Jimi's weapon arm and the jetpack and it is pretty sweet. And I think Vapour has the potential to be pretty cool, but I'm not too sure. So how long until the rest are in stores / on S@H? Quote
---Vertea--- Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 the best feature of the set is prolly the recoloured Corroder weapons. I still don't like the way Rotor/Vapours helmet looks and the rest of the parts are...meh. Quote
_shaddow_ Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 (edited) A member of the french forum Bionicle Legends did a review of the Drop Ship with some pictures, you can check them here : http://www.bionicle-legends.com/reviews-f15/review-drop-ship-t2886.htm By the way they're not availbible in france, but a french site have the Drop Ship for 45€ before shipping. Edited June 26, 2010 by _shaddow_ Quote
VBBN Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Translated that french review; Today I dedicate my review to drop ship. Part1: the box: The box's drop ship is rather large which is pretty good for highlighting the set. Usually boxes of this size are long but this one is square. . At the back we see clearly the drop ship but also von nebula, rotor and 6 heroes. Since this is not a set BIONICLE not Biocode Part2: building The construction of the drop ship offer a multitude of new ideas of construction and the mechanism is very well thought out and the reinforcements on the edges. The construction of the mechanism is based on a trigger and the cockpit is really well thought out (it is not tight). Only small flat in the building, the driver is very simple. Part 3: the set Pilot The pilot is quite simple, gives a good idea of canisters can be normal and mask blue crotesius mata and the "H" in silver. The color scheme is a bit scattered but not colorful either. The ship The ship is rather large (45cm) and its design is well-airplane even if we see a hole saw when the wings are straight. By using color plates differentiates wings and protections. Note that the silver pieces are darker than the BIONICLE approaching gun metal. The only drawback of the set, there's only one pitcher, Me I've put a 2 and is much better. PART 4: Conclusion For me it's a very good set, even for 45 € it's worth it though may appear cheaper in a short time, you see. BONUS Comparison of size and catch Canister. Quote

vexorian Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) I enjoyed reading the review and watching the video version. Maybe the reviewer was a bit too enthusiastic when he claimed that there are lots of connection points on the pieces. Stringer is not my favorite of the 7.99 sets, I more like the Heroes with two identical weapons. After taking a look to the instructions, I got to say that there is a world of difference between the 'rookies' and the other guys. The two-weapon guys being actually the first good constraction impulse sets in a good while. I might actually get one. If only the trans parts were detachable... Edit: Did anyone notice the "preliminary" tag in rotor's page about the thornax launcher. Edited June 27, 2010 by vexorian Quote

Nike2032 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) Wow. I always kind of imagined that the drop ship had some kind of way to carry the heroes and drop them off, but I thought that this would not actually happen, as it was just a name used for storyline purposes. Though this is great. The ship is able to carry the canisters and deliver them. It brings back a lot of memories of 2001 of Bionicle as the Toa Mata were transported from the cordex to the shores of Mata Nui by their canisters. Edited June 27, 2010 by Nike2032 Quote
