80 Dollar Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 (edited) So we ARE getting bigger sets....yay! Hehe Bulk and Vapour :D great names. :D Edited January 3, 2010 by 80 Dollar Quote
Bricknave Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 (edited) Then again, Anyone could build a Ben 10 set in about 10 seconds without instructions, and they didn't have inika armor. True! I think it is also possible to build any Ben 10 Alien Force canister set blindfolded! Back on topic for me now ... 7160 Drop ShipRelease Month: August "Dropship"? Interesting. Bionicle has never released a set of a flying vehicle meant to carry several figures at a time! This could be something that will make HerO Factory stand out from it's processor. This could be something that will make HerO Factory stand out from it's processor. The way it's spelled (With a space between Drop and Ship) makes me think that it's the name of a character. I've also heard from Greg that the larger BIONICLE sets really haven't sold that well, and a dropship for even Matoran-sized figures would have to be really big. I would still love to see a set like that. Quote
ShaddowCroc Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Alright, I'm thinking that 'Blaze Bike' and Drop Ship' are some kind of transforming mecha or something. Also, Bulk and Vapour are either Those Two Guys, or Those Two Bad Guys. Quote

I'm still thinking that they'll be titans but that sounds like it your guess might be better. If they do that I wonder what Hasbro would think... Quote

Trionx Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Could be the BIONICLE Escape ship from the cancelled 5th movie right? It's possible, but I don't think they were that far along in set design before they ended it. We don't even know if that was supposed to be a set. (Would be interesting if it was though.) Quote

Well, you could make a dropship by taking the Axalara T9, expanding the nose wider(About, I dunno, thirteen studs wide?) putting the deck floor at the bottom of the nose area, extending all the way to the driver's seat. To save peices, build the driver's seat smaller(Matoran-size) and remove the extending wing gimmick, use the extra peice allowance for bigger engines. More in the vein of a troop deployer, but it could get away being called a "dropship". Quote
Lord-Koji Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 This really makes me want to take a shot at MOCing a dropship now... Quote

Very good analogy, but maybe the Dropship could be Matoran-sized and only have seats for two passengers, so that it would be at the same price range as the Thornatus V9. It could look strange, but at least it would still serve the purpose of having a cool flying Technic dropship to make "swoosh" sounds with. Quote
Darkness Falls Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Going back to something I had brought up earlier in this topic- if the human names are because these technic-based sets are robots with human pilots (which facilitates the new torsos, because they would need a torso able to hold a minifigure or core figure), then the Dropship could be a core figure or minifigure scaled ship that holds a mech that can be dropped or landed for moving out. Thoughts? Quote

That would be interesting, but I'm not sure if LEGO would want to try and make another mech line so soon after Exo-Force. (Though it would be welcome to me. ) Quote

The Alchemyst Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Dear Lego, Please be a hero and make the dropship for figs, but absolutely huge and in Technic. And make it for the figs inside all the canister sets. Bulk and Vapour are totally cool names. That is all. Quote
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Didn't anyone notice that Kiddiwinks put the HF sets in the BIONICLE category? Even though it's BIONICLE's successor, it should be somewhere else. Like Technic. And it seems that the Hero canisters will be Stars-sized. They are listed the same price as the Stars. Dropship also has the biggest price of them all, so I guess it will be somewhat Axalara/Skopio-sized. If Darkness Falls is right, then we can consider HF a cross between BIONICLE and Exo-Force. Minifigures controlling BIONICLE-esque figures. Quote

Trionx Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Now everyone has their hopes up, we are so going to be disappointed. Even if they have Minifigs, I'm going to have to make a MOC of a technic dropship. That's too cool to pass up. Quote
Brickthing Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Does Dropship have to mean troop deployer? It could easily be some Agori-build pilot driving a helicopter jet fitted with a bombing mechanism couldn't it? Quote

Minifigures controlling BIONICLE-esque figures. Ooooh my god. If they put minifigs in Bionicle-style mecha suits my day would be made. I was never the biggest fan of Exo-Force, though, it just seemed like it was trying too hard to be anime-inspired and not doing so well at it. And I don't see why it wouldn't be classified as "Bionicle" at first - after all, Bionicle was once a sub-line of Technic when it first started out so I suppose it would just be labeled as so as not to confuse casual Lego fans. ~cap'n Quote
Takanuva-nui Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I don't understand all the complaints around here. This new line looks promising. Despite the names and possibly childish story, these sets look pretty good, and I see a ton of recolors. The Bionicle story is continuing, too, so its not as if you have to drop it and follow this one. The MOCers get their parts, the storyline people get an extension on the story, and we get a new line with a new story that might be good as well. Everyone wins. As for the dropship, a pure technic ship for the small canister-sized figures would be awesome, but I think its just another one of these ships we've been getting these past two years, not a troop carrier. As a few others have said in this topic, it could just be a bomb-dropping ship or even a single character, judging by the others' names. T-Nui Quote
