October 2, 201014 yr That was funny, It's a pity that The Muppet Show wasn't aired on Israel when I was young enough to watch it. You're never too old to watch it.
October 2, 201014 yr I liked fraggle rock as a kid more than the mullets, but the mullets were much more popular and for most more memorable.

October 2, 201014 yr NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO There, there DIFFERENT. This has now confused me, so elmo was never in ssesame street? Oh this has ruined my entire elmo and the gang memories.
October 2, 201014 yr Ohh, seasame street used to be something I watched as a tiny boy. Wait is Seasame Street the same thing as the muppets? Muppet is a term coined by Jim Henson to describe his marionette puppets (marionette + puppet = muppet). The term generally applies to all of the marionette puppets that Henson and co. created. The term is more often associated with characters from the Muppet Show. Fraggles and Seasame Street characters are still muppets though. ...and Elmo was in Seasame Street. He's a Seasame Street character who happens to be a muppet, just like Big Bird, Oscar, Kermit and many others.

Great explanation and you are correct, except Big Bird is not a muppet, he's a guy in a costume, more like a mascot.
October 2, 201014 yr Big Bird is not a muppet, he's a guy in a costume, more like a mascot. Not only him!!!

October 3, 201014 yr This thread is awesome. Stupid phone. My phone auto corrected muppets, I didn't catch it. So much for on topic. Turning 'muppets' into 'mullets' is the greatest spell checker mess-up I've ever heard of! Also, does Prof. Flitwick know we all have different names in real life, whether they've just been changed to muppetesque pseudonyms or not? If not I just TOTALLY destroyed his fragile little world-view ;) AAAlay yuuuuuuu de wut de wut de hay! BORK BORK BORK! (Just thought I'd translate the entirety of my post into the only dialect of Swedish I know, seeing as how this is an Int'l board).
October 3, 201014 yr Oh, you crazy EB staff and your name changes. You guys are so crazy and fun. But not too fun were you ban each other for no reason, or not fun at all at the point where your incredibly biased mods.
October 3, 201014 yr No. They're different. But both use puppets. In a way... Can it, Scouts. They are both Jim Henson creations. They are both official Muppet projects, so yes, Sesame Street characters are Muppets. Sesame Street is the children's show and The Muppet Show was an adult variety show. It originally aired on Saturday evenings. We used to go to my aunt's house and watch it every Saturday. We would eat pretzel logs and drink pop, and I would play with DUPLO and watch the Muppets. It was my favorite day of the week.
