NOOOO... that completely sucks! The delivery people just leave it on my porch... do you live in an apartment or something? If you have the means you might be able to call them and see if you can't pick it up tomorrow.

Well i did phone DHL to rearrange it so after 10 minutes of listening to relaxing hold music :hmpf_bad: i finall got through and they said that the newest delivery time they could give was monday or pay to have it delivered saturday. And i didnt get a note or anything, i just live in an average detatched house  to be fair from what i guess its a bigger box than the hogwarts one and has the free keyring with it so theres not really anywhere safe to leave it and i know i would have grumbled even if they had left it outside (my poor baby getting all cold and wet  ) plus the nearest collection hub is birmingham and im not willing to travel that far

I just received Hogwarts yesterday from FedEx and they just left it at the door. The box for Diagon Alley is the exact same size as Hogwarts.

Ooh! Anyone feel like doing a review? Pretty please?

And also - do Fred and George have a doublesided head or something? They're listed as one character on Bricklink. Makes me go "Huh? What?"

Well i always questioned lego about the use of oversized boxes, i mean if diagon alley is near enough double the amount of bricks (or somwhere in that region) why not just make the boxes smaller, i think its ever since they made the boxes less thick :sceptic:

Fred and George have the same head. It is double sided, one side is a closed mouth grin and the other side is an open mouthed grin.

Hey guys, I've just finished building Diagon Alley, and have some pictures for you all! I don't think I'm good enough to do a full review of a huge set like this, but the pictures will give you a good idea of the set. Spoiler warning, THIS SET IS AWESOME. I've put them as links, because they are in quite a high resolution and I know some people are still on dial up.

The Box Art

Parts in the Bags

Bag 1 Parts

Bag 3 Parts

Olivander's Wand Shop

Borgin and Burkes

Gringotts

Mini-figures (close up)

Full overview of the set (front)

Full overview of the set (behind)

Hope those are helpful for anyone who wanted to see more! You can read my mini-review on my blog, here is the link for that! Thanks!

Marakoeschtra over at Lowlug (Dutch) wrote an excellent review of this lovely set. The pictures are really nice and clear, I love the figures. Ollivander, Fred/George look awesome. It would have been even more awesome if the eyes of the goblins were black, but perhaps I'll buy a few more goblins and paint it black. *huh* I can't wait to get this set, but it isn't out yet in the Belgium shops who usually sell exclusive sets. :sadnew:

Just bought this set in Cologne - they were flying from the shelves over there. I'm writing an English review right now. It will take some more time though (and my pictures are not as bright as in the other Dutch review - but I have more pictures  ).

Personally, I don't trust DHL.

I had two different orders ship to me via DHL and BOTH were 'unable to deliver', yet, for BOTH orders, I was home ALL DAY waiting for my doorbell to ring, or for someone to knock at the door, sitting no more than ten feet away from my front door the whole time (building LEGO at my kitchen table, actually). Both times, I found a note in my mailbox when I went to get my mail.

So, for both orders, I ended up having to travel to the depot to get them.

Thankfully, LEGO doesn't use DHL to deliver to this neck of the woods anymore.

I had that exact same thought. Given the fancy new paint job that mini-figs have been getting recently (Jar Jar, the ewoks, etc.), I was expecting the goblins to be painted up a bit. Not a huge deal in an otherwise fantastic set, but still kind of disappointing.

I don't know if it was DHL or other but they just left it outside my door on Saturday Afternoon in the rain. I emailed S@H to complain. No response yet. It's (the box) smaller than I thought it would be.

Great!

My favorite shop in this set is Ollivander's wand shop, because of the exterior. Gringott's bank has some nice Roman-style pillars as well.

I just noticed that the Vanishing Cabinet in Borgin and Burkes is a little different from the Hogwarts version.

Well done TLC!

My LEGO Store has the set and they are holding it for me. So now I am on hold to tell LEGO to cancel Diagon Alley from my order and they have the same hold song on repeat! It's a nightmare and torture! "just imagine..." *huh*:cry_sad::wacko:

Sorry this is very OT, but does anyone know where I can download that song? It's really bugging me...

Finally picking this set up today; the 2010-2011 HP sets are all very good, but I think set is the most complete since it's one of the few sets to include Harry, Ron, AND Hermione (Ron seems to be hard to find for some reason) and it really has the most HP atmosphere. I just love the look of Olivanders - I remember somebody saying that it was a little odd, but frankly I don't see that at all. I think its gorgeous. Awesome minifig selection, too! I might be doing my own review once I pick it up, even though there are several already.

liking the look of the quirky architecture and the color variation between the buildings and the amount of figs you included is jaw dropping

looking at picking up this set when i am in hk in a few months time, can't wait :cry_happy:
