Etzel Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Hi! This MOC is just an expansion of my Category B entry in Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigures Series 2 Building Contest. I was happy with the front of the temple and thought it would look good with some nice surroundings so I decided to build this. It's not very advanced since most of my pieces are already used in some other MOCs of mine (which I want to keep assembled for a display my LUG will have in November). Some might wonder why I'm using Exo-Force heads for the minifigs. That's because I think they fit very well with the Spartan helmet. Normal minifigs got the eyes to close to the nose guard I think, and it makes them look a little stupid. I've never really liked the Exo-Force heads before but I might have to change my mind now Anyway, enough talk. Here are the pictures (which aren't top class either, apologizes for that): That's it. I eagerly awaits the column pieces in the Diagon Alley and Atlantis sets in January, then it's time for some more Greek MOCs I think Thanks for watching! Quote
Big Cam Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Oh I love it, it really reminds me of the 300 movie. Not sure if that was your intent, but it looks fabulous. Quote
prateek Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Wow! This is just breath taking. I love every detail, especially the rock formation Quote
Jipay Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Amazing ! It reminds me the game titan quest Quote
Admiral Ron Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Wonderful! That column is amazing! as is the temple, Great work! Quote
Bingo Little Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 I absolutely love the model and the architecture - and you're right, it would look awesome with the new column pieces. Talking of columns, the one with the statue is awesome. My criticism would come with the use of the exo force faces, which to my mind look far too cartoonish... the rest of the figure design, however, it top notch. Quote
Zorbas Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Beautiful! Fantastic work Etzel! You've put so many nice details and the colour selection you've made captures the eye. I really like the fact that the whole layout escalates in several levels, especially by creating several floors with the plates. The rocky section looks fantastic, the column with the statue on it is greatly executed and the temple itself is just beautiful! You've even managed to add small details on the pediment without making it look too cramped. You could also add one more brick layer (architrave) between the columns and the pediment. Love the small pig shack and its roof! Thanks for the pictures! Quote
Duke Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Excellent MOC, I thought the category B entry was great but this is the icing on the cake. Nice landscaping with the graduation progression of colours, the light green looks very good. Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Beautiful. I love the lime green for the grass. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Well done Pretzel! I love the use of different colourings such as the lime grass, the dark tan cactus/tree as well as the beautiful temple, its all so nice. The piggie door is fantastically rustic to boot. Keep it up mate. Quote
Norro Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 A nice set, I like the exo-force faces, they work surprisingly well in this context. I also like the varying elevations in this scene. Very good work! God Bless, Nathan Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Stunning. I love the landscaping and the dark, subdued colour palette you've used. That little helot (?) house is great too, I never get tired of that 1x1 cylinder roof technique. The worn look of it is a nice contrast with the imposing temple. One thing I might suggest is giving the grey statue a sword and shield - something a little more warlike. Aside from that though it's great, I like the way you've done the fluting. Great work Etzel, I'm loving all of these Greek MOCs that have been popping up recently. Quote
L-space Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Really great work. The differences in landscaping and the total layout really add to it. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 First thing I noticed was the colours you have put into this MOC. The lime green adds so much to the whole atmosphere! The temple building is very nice as well, great details! Statues on pillars were more seen in the Roman cities, but it sure looks great here. As Big Cam said, it strongly reminds me of the 300 movie too. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Great expansion of your already great Greek structure in your contest entry! The additional landscape and elements (statue column, cacti, pig shack) multiplies the beauty of the whole build. Very good job Etzel! Quote
Sandy Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I have to congratulate you on the fantastic, unconventional color choice you've made with the combination of lime green, dark tan and dark red. It really gives your MOC a unique vibe, as do the Exo-force faces. Sure, they're cartoonish, but how is that a bad thing? It makes your MOC look like something from the pages of Asterix comic books. Splendid job! Quote
