Hello everyone, don't know if this is the right place for this topic, I posted it here because I've seen similar posts. Besides the topics about the plastic, I wanna talk about the prints on faces. My skater minifigure got the print a little weird, the painting looks like pen ink, and like someone painted a head with a toothpick and the ink. One of my cheerleader minifigs has weird spots on her face, doesn't look like a missprint, it looks like the plastic is darker in there. I'm okay with the fact that the minifigs have an opaque printing which fortunately isn't noticiable, and the same with the different kind of plastic, but not with the painting they use for the prints (Only some minifigs have this issue)

I posted this thread, cause, I never saw something about prints on them?. Have any of you experienced this?

I haven't experienced anything remotely like that. Could be because your figs are Series 1 while I've only gotten Series 2 figs. So hopefully that's a sign that this was a temporary problem and that I won't be finding it in future figs I purchase. That would be an unpleasant surprise in any set, particularly one like the collectible figs where the minifig is pretty much the only thing you're paying for.

Could you try and get pictures? This is different than any printing complaints I've ever heard about LEGO-- most of the time the issue is just one of the print in general being off-center, or the print color not being an adequate match to the corresponding plastic color, or the separate "color layers" of print not lining up (thus, a black border wouldn't be aligned right with the colored emblem it's supposed to surround). And I haven't heard any of these problems except the one about non-matching colors with the collectible figs.

I highly doubt your problem is unique-- "unique" problems are never likely to appear in mass-produced products, so I'm certain somebody somewhere has the same problem as you do-- but it's really weird to hear of a problem like this that I've never heard of before (especially in the collectible figs, whose faults have been well-publicized). I haven't the foggiest idea what kind of production goof would cause printing errors of this sort. So I look forward to pics in case seeing the problem for myself might explain how it could happen.

I won't give as long an answer...

In short, no I have not encountered that kind of error, and I sure hope I don't!

I do tend to ramble, don't I...

But what can I say? Anything about the collectible figs tends to pique my curiosity now that I own some and thus have experience with their quality.

None errors for me (knock on wood). Only Caveman's right arm is stiffer than left and underwater diver's (don't know what's his name) glasses (forgot how's that called) move loose. I have Vampire from Series 2 and it's fine.

No print errors, weird plastic, problems with fitting acessories in minifig hands and such. :classic:

Probably has to do something with lego choosing to have the figures created in china. :hmpf_bad:

Quality is poorer then the other minifigs in my collection. Yea, over the past couple days, i've picked some off ebay, but I've been after some of them. For series 4, i'm only after 3.

I wouldn't be suprised if the bad printing went right along with Lego taking the Made in China route.

As far if i've experienced this? I've noticed the hand movement and leg issues and poor quality on the ones I got, but i only have the pilot, gorilla suit man, and tennis gal.

However, I did note that that something doesn't feel quite right about the banana that came w/ monkey boy. I really don't know what it is b/c a side by side comparasion w/ the only other banana in my collection, they were the same but there's something haunting me about the quality of gorilla guy's banana...

EDIT: had to correct spelling of "series" and had to correct "I'm only after 4" to the proper number of 3.

It's funny that you should mention the banana... Generally, the collectible minifigs accessories have new part numbers presumably because they're made in China out of new moulds, regardless whether they're identical to the previous moulds (like the wrench, to name just one) or slightly different (the turkey/chicken leg). The banana doesn't have a part number at all, so it's as if they are still using the old mould. But it's probably just a matter of not including the part number in the new mould, although nowadays most parts have a part number or at least the LEGO copyright.

I don' have very many S1 'figs (actually, only one), but through all 3 series I've never had that happen to me. Are all your 'figs like that? Perhaps it's just a one time defect.

And doesn't this belong in the Special Themes forum now?
